Her happiness turned to concern when she saw her opponent crying. Great coaching.

Where was the concern at?she never even took a look if concern at the little girl, only at the camera m maybe a slight look at her opponent, never showed a huge amount concern at all

I saw that too. Very cool. And it probably ain't the coaching. Kids at that age are natural empaths and already have a strong sense of right and wrong. What they call in developmental psychology 'moral imagination'. Good job noting it, though.

@Stephen Jeffreys What is also pretty interesting to note is the opposite points of view about what kind of an event this qualifies as: Is this an empathic event or not? Maybe even the opposite, as some commenters seem to think the young athlete was actually making fun of her opponents tears. So, just taking a purely inductive approach, we are talking about that moment the winner notices and reacts to the girl that just can't believe what just happened and is clearly experiencing a tearful moment. That much everyone agrees, not controversial. What people view different is the emotional reaction, more to the point, the quality of the emotion, was it positive or was it negative? As far as the physical evidence, the sequence of events shows, distinctly, that the winner moved in the direction of the other athlete, and that it looked as if she did with concern for the well being of the distressed athlete that just got her butt handed to her in a categorical and kind of in a potentially humiliation inducing way, finding herself from one second to the next, after attacking strongly, on the other end of an incredible move, full of flair and imagination, not to say anything of the geometric precision of the technical execution. I'd be in tears, too. But, then, how cool to also observe the transition of joy into, apparently, concern for her opponent experiencing difficulty digesting what just happened in a match that lasted about three seconds. There is even one commentator, to use an available source from the thread, that writes he also saw the ref preventing the child from going over to her opponent, and probably not to make fun of her, but more like to try and be near her to console her and try to support her opponent in her moment of extreme vulnerability. Worth noting, after getting flown through the air straight to her back on the mat, with an amazing move that looks like something choreographed for John Wick. Wonderful document, whoever filmed this, also good job. On a darker note, it's worth also noting that there is also going on a lot of projection on these threads, and what is surprising is how projection is, in a sense, an override of reality through the mechanism of being aversive to facts. Most of which are facts that have to do with the generative outcomes. Real world results that make things grow, that are inspiring, empowering, or joyful human situations, like this one. As if behind the projections and the ill will to give reality its due, there were also an entire psychology of resent at work that who knows how it got that way, but works exactly like a fatal attraction to the destruction of not just generative biology, but of the love of life that is intrinsic in most normal and healthy human beings. Food for thought.

Also as everyone said very nice man for comforting her. We need encouraging adults in child sports to let them know it's ok, just learn from it. Can't win every time. 😊❤
