- I walk along Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This street is known for its large Polish-American businesses and vibrant activity.

From Wikipedia:
"Greenpoint is the northernmost neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, in the U.S. state of New York. It is bordered on the southwest by Williamsburg at the Bushwick Inlet, on the southeast by the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and East Williamsburg, on the north by Newtown Creek and Long Island City, Queens at the Pulaski Bridge, and on the west by the East River.
The neighborhood has a large Polish immigrant and Polish-American community, containing many Polish restaurants, markets, and businesses, and it has often been referred to as Little Poland.
Originally farmland - many of the farm owners' family names, such as Meserole (Messerole) and Calyer, are current street names - the residential core of Greenpoint was built on parcels divided during the 19th century, with rope factories and lumber yards lining the East River to the west, while the northeastern section along the Newtown Creek through East Williamsburg became an industrial maritime area.
Greenpoint has long held a reputation of being a working class and immigrant neighborhood, and it initially attracted families and workers with its abundance of factory jobs and longshoreman or dock work. Since the early 2000s, a building boom in the neighborhood, especially of multifamily dwellings, has made the neighborhood increasingly a center of nightlife and gentrification. There have also been efforts to reclaim the rezoned Greenpoint / Williamsburg East River waterfront for recreational use and also to extend a continuous promenade into the Newtown Creek area."

I enjoyed! especially your explanations.Thanks.👍
Hi AK Absolutely loving all your videos! always brightening our days:)
Thank you Ken, I've enjoyed the walk along Greenpoint neighborhood. I like that there are still mama's and papa's stores.
Great walk! Love the historical narration.
Another great walk about video.
The Polish platter at Christina's restaurant sounds very good ! 👍❇️🦋
Thanks...loved the walk and the neighborhood. Be well Kenneth!
I have never eaten a donut in my hole life, wierd i know😂love you walk and telling about places you pass! Thank’s! 🖐
You have to try a donut sometime!
ActionKid 😃👌
I must have cycled through Greenpoint via Manhattan Avenue thousands of times throughout my life. Love the neighborhood. Hard working, blue collar people there. Eaten at many of the Polish restaurants there. Thanks for bringing us there with your video.
I used to live right down the street from St Anthony's Church.
Oh and Polish breakfast in Greenpoint is a must.
The Action Kid picking up some Polish sausage to enjoy after his 🚶♂️ on a 🔥 93 Degree day. Staying in the shade 😎
I love Peter pan doughnuts, went there as a kid with my mother and brother, they haven't changed much in fifty years
They're so good
You are my Hero ❤️
Greenpoint Native here- if folks like Greenpoint now they would've adored her back on the day. In the 70s there'd be kids all over the place playing stick ball on West St, or the Southern end of Manhattan Ave by JHS 126. Father's and their kids fishing off the Huron St pier. McCarran, Franklin St and Winthrop (now called McGolrick) parks were packed with families. There were friendly neighborhood rivalries among us kids in Basketball and Baseball based on Parishes. St Stan's against St Anthony's or Saint Cyril & Methodias against Saint Cecilia's which served kids from the southern end of Greenpoint but the church was about 3 blocks into Williamsburg. There were Block parties in the Puerto Rican section of North Greenpoint, & in the Italian enclaves. They sponsored the Mt Carmel feast which was held a few blocks outside of Greenpoint in Williamsburg. The Polish Carnival on McGinnis Blvd was loads of fun. On Halloween kids would walk the entire length of Greenpoint trick or treating. There was a real small town feel to it. Manhattan might as well been Mars. We almost never went there. Oh well times change. Hope the new generation enjoys it as much as mine did.
Nice walk again ! BTW: Miele produces the washing machines here in Germany completly. The only brand left in this sector who does it. Their machines seems kinda pricey but they often last for 20+ years ! The brand is pronounced "Meele" like ie in Bieber😊
I've heard a lot of good things about Miele
Yeah pretty cool!!!
born and raised there in the 50s 60s but you started in the middle of greenpoint, the city runs alphabetically until you get to greenpoint ave starting at Ash st so you missed the first 11 blocks. the building you didnt know what it was but said it was magnificent was the Greenpoint Savings bank
Beautiful place
Greenpoint Savings was supposed to be converted into a theater back in late 90's.
Guess that never happened.
Have you thought about posting a quick review of the GH5 2 and maybe explain why you stopped using it? Thanks
Ontario also has a few Baker's Dozen locations, not sure if they are the same but it seems to be the same.
Nice watch Polish place on NY🗽 .Great job AK. 👌Greetings Polish Polonia with Polen.
❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks our nieghborhood is really groovy! You can see I have lived here for more than 56 yrs. One thing doubles me though a mention of the Irish and Germans St
Anthony's was a onetime mostly Irish we have aways had a large group of Hispanic as well. Thats what made this community so deversified and great to grow up in.
Your neighborhood is such a nice area! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us
I'm descended from some Dutch families who started there. Dirck de Noorman Volkertson. Not sure if I spelled that right. He was originally from Norway but came by way of Amsterdam to New York. I live in Michigan.
Muito bom parabéns, eu amo os seus vídeos e amo todos, Márcio Santos from Brasil.
I saw you outside of Peter Pan!!!
Polenais has the best Perogies next to my great Aunt of course!
Hey AK! How's it goin'?
Yeah
What?! You missed the vegan pizza place! 🍕🌿Oh well. It was super hot this week 🌞
Good to know there's a vegan pizza place around too!
My old neighborhood I got married in that church.
Things are getting back to pre pandemic times. The streets are much cleaner.
baker's dozen means 13
Christina's over priced. For good polish food try one one Nassau and Humbolt St homemade and different dishes everday plus you can sit down and eat. Greenpoint bank is now going up as condos the property is protected as historical thank God. Bakers dozen was our first bagel shop. Now one is on Norman and Manattan Ave. Good 99c stores. Dand D is good as well off of Meserole and Manhattan Ave. Peter Pan best Dounuts on earth. Histoical clock use to be up from there by blomelstiens jewelry store. Next store use to be the Meserole Theater something else is going up. Cinderella card shop support that store they are very nice owners. Three Decker Diner love it just for nostalgia.
$1.50 for a donut at Peter Pan yet Dough Doughnuts charges around $4. SMH
Greenpoint use to be a very nice neighborhood where everyone knew each other and then it changed drastically. Developers are ruining it with their hideous condos. The rent is outrageous and don’t get me started on the citi bikes everywhere…you will never find parking!!
We can thank BLM for thier art work.
