Trend of economic decoupling between China and the U.S. is irreversible/Blinken's visit to China

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Shanghai on April 24th. On the same day, he started a new round of visits to China, and the U.S. Congress passed a $95 billion foreign aid bill, including aid to Taiwan and a possible ban on TikTok. In addition, Apple Inc. and Tesla have reported unfavorable news in China. When we combine the pieces, we will see a trend that the CCP cannot stop.

I bought around 8,000 worth of electronic components from China around 5 years ago. Every single purchase was returned, and the Chinese manufactures could say absolutely nothing. Every single electron aid component was “not as advertised”, even solder connections were skimped on.
What’s worse, China is part of a consortium of countries that have 90-95 percent of their shipping paid by the U.S. government based on treaty law. China apparently is a third world nation still.
Now, when the economy of China is producing hardly a thing, and most businesses with any kind of large orders have moved to India, Brazil, or Korea, America is going to restrict trade? We America still be footing the bill for the shipping still underway?

Tik Tok CEO talks about the Constitution and the its users freedom of speech. However, teh sole contention the US has with Tik Tok is that as a CHinese company, they must provide any and all information asked by the government. That includes personnal information. If they can guarantee that will not happen, then the US will not have any issues with the company. Teh problem is that they are legally obligated to hand over such information if asked by Chinese law. The only way to get around that is if Tik Tok in the US is not a Chinese company. What was mentioned by the CEO are just deflections and distractions.

for china, trade with the west is less and less important because they have the rest of the world where western products cannot compete with them, so the suspension of trade with the west affects both the west and china equally, but china still has a better position in the rest of the world, in conclusion the west lose any way you turn

How so when china stifles innovation and has been unable to make any real advancements in the last 100 years due to the oppressive CCP? Everyone who is creative and educated generally LEAVES china as soon as the CCP starts paying attention to them.

No china will lose massively BCOS of huge population. 23% youth college unemployment. Massive bank defaults and bad debtors. We in the west have learnt a little from out past but china has yet to hit a big downturn and when it happens, stand back.

Just to add two cents. The SWIFT system isn't a US system but a European system. The US would need to get the EU to remove China from the system, but with nation that are hardly decoupled at all from China that would be nearly impossible in the short run.

If the us sanctions chinese banks and you think others continuing to do business with them would think they would be okay? Not how it works. Everyone else would be forced to comply with the largest economy in the world.

@@raymaster That is not how international relations work in the real world. Maybe in a game yes, but not in the real world.
Nations communicate with allies how and what to do. Because screwing over an ally or strongmanning them is the best path to loosing it. EU is the US largest ally by far and decoupling of the two largest economies in the world would be catastrophic for both and opening a dangerous window for China.
Heck even with enemies they mostly do the same.
That is exactly why nations are atepping away from China and Russia. Albeit some nations are still slow.
Does not change the fact that SWIFT is an EU institution. And one that the US also needs since American older version of a system like it, Telex, has been phased out by almost everyone including the US.
