- Come along with me today as I harvest yarrow from my summer garden for storage and medicinal use on my homestead! This is definitely one of my must utilized medicinal herbs, and this video got me thinking I should do a video on my top 5 favorite homestead herbs to use and grow.
Full disclaimer: I am not a certified/licensed herbalist or medical practitioner. This video is about what I do on my homestead, and is not medical advice. Always do you own research before using herbs. And enjoy the content!

Fun way to learn. Thank you for NOT spending half of this video talking about yourself.
I can't watch those, I just can't .
GOOD JOB. I look forward to more.
Hahaha thanks!
@@thefiresidefarm your welcome.
Thank you
LOL "I cannot start seeds without starting ALL OF THE SEEDS". I have this problem too, I can't help it!
🤣🤣🤣
Ready to harvest my yarrow and found your video helpful, thanks!
Glad I could help!
Thanks
Would absolutely love a video on tinctures and salves!!!!!
I'll have to get on it soon! I have several requests
I love your style !! 😀
Although tying twine around a few stems seems obvious, there's actually a trick to it (in my experience). An ordinary knot or bow tends to be too loose and the plant might fall out as it dries and shrinks (maybe, certainly not always). So an herbalist friend of mine showed me how to wrap the twine very tightly around the stems five times, create a loop, thread through the loop, THEN tie a knot or bow to seal the deal. I've never had a problem since!!
Thanks for sharing!!
I would be especially interested in seeing a video on making salves, as well as tinctures. Especially of yarrow, but also if you can combine a salve for example of Yarrow, calendula, and comfrey. And I would also be interested in watching videos on making tinctures and not only how you make them but what you would use them for and what proportions. Thanks in advance!
Sounds good!
time well spent. fun and informative. thank you : )
Here in NW GA you can't go 2 feet down the highway without seeing it clumped for miles and miles. 💜 happy growing 💜
Can use a paper towel lightly misted w/white vinegar to clean out grinder. Helps remove taste/odor when grinding ‘stronger’ flavored herbs and veggies. (Peppers, anise, celery, onion, mints, etc). Thanx for vid! Be blessed!
That's a great idea!
I loved this video! Exactly what im looking for. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Every little everyone has a few favorite herbs 😄 ... and this one definitely tops my list!
Excellent presentation you've put together here, thank you so much for the demonstration and information!
I observed this "weed" growing wild behind my house a back in 2021. In summer of '22 I identified it as yarrow, a plant that I'd heard of before but knew little about, other than "it has medicinal properties". Fast forward to _this_ summer and now my knowledge of this little " weed" has grown faster than the plant itself! I've been methodically harvesting, drying, and storing it for the past six to eight weeks, while searching for other ways to prepare and utilize it. I really like your powdered quick-clot idea, I think I'm going to give it a shot!
Thank you again for the wonderful presentation, I'm happy to have found this video and I'll definitely be checking out more of your channels content👍🏻
Thank you so much! I've very glad you enjoyed it
I love your presentation as well as your thought process excellent video and study thank you for your time and video… stay blessed
Thank you! You too!
Excellent! Thank you. I just collected some today!
Enjoy!
A fellow Megan!!!! I am so excited!
Haha hello there!
Great info. I started my path towards becoming a herbalist recently and I found your video fun and informative. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Glad it was helpful!
Lovely, calm and friendly video - subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
Great video thankyou!, I use a pestle and mortar to grind up the yarrow and it works great too
Great tip!
Interesting, I learned a bunch
Thank you! I hope to be doing a couple more of my favorites to grow here as harvesting increases!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thanks a lot!
It was very informative:)
Nice presentation:)

When stacking a few bales of hay, the top one bounced back at my face and a stalk went right up my nose and I had a major nosebleed. Just gushing🤢 I grabbed and crushed some yarrow and stuffed it up my nose. Stopped bleeding by the time i finished stacking the last three bales.
I would like to add spearmint infused oil with the yarrow. What do u think? Good combo? What percentage of each.
I have the same all-of-the-seed-starting problem too. Do you suffer from the I must plant ALL OF THE SEEDLINGS I'VE GROWN EVEN THOUGHT I DON'T HAVE ANY SPACE LEFT problem as well?
Bahahahaha absolutely!
I found my people!! 😂
I would love a yarrow tincture!! Pretty please !?😊
I just found this growing wild today in my field. Thank you for this information. Question, Do you rinse it before you dry it?
It wouldn't be a terrible idea to rinse it. I dont...but I also know what I spray in my garden haha. Something near a roadside or if you use chemical fertilizers, you might wanna rinse it
Hmm, using a beehive queen excluder for a screen. Interesting idea.
Haha thanks. Whatever works amiright 🤣
Hi watched your vid on yarrow are you able to use a dehydrator? Cheers Glenn
Yes you are! 😄
Can you grind the dried flowers with it?
Of course! You can use any aerial portion of the plants
So tea is good for internal bleeding
I would highly recommend visiting a doctor if you think you have internal bleeding. 🤣
I would like to make yarrow salve. Do u have a video?
I do not unfortunately
Do you use the stem?
Yes every part of the plant is usable...but the leaves and flowers will have the most concentrated beneficial compounds.
So the yarrow looks like a wild carrot top?
Yes it's from the same plant family.
Yearrow ?
Yar-row here in Oregon.
Rman in slovenian. So useful plant.
❤the quik-clot powder idea.🫡🎁 I cut myself good, instant gusher, this summer....was in middle of bush so i boogied over to lamb's ear plant. Instantly stopped bleeding.💯TY for great vid.
Thanks for sharing! Lambs ear doesn't grow here as far as I know...but awesome use of a native plant!
