    From a local... For those visiting The City, vehicle break-ins are rampant there. Don't leave anything of value in the vehicle and if in an RV, leave at the RV park and take your e-bikes.
    Love the e-bike reviews and your real-world experiences with them.

    Wow!
    This was soo encouraging to me just now for I still have my rad runner in the box and all the accessories that came with the Black Friday special in their box and I could not figure out the lock and now I SEE!! Thank you for encouraging me! I’m still trying to figure out my new camper and just got the correct equalizing hitch Friday and tried to disconnect it from my Jeep truck yesterday and almost broke my hand!! I cried and cried and now realize I made a terrible mistake because unladen this 3,140 little guy Max 21 ft trailer makes my Jeep Mojave trick roar and it is a new truck for this year and the towing reviews weren’t out there and even though it says it can 6,000 pounds I know now that it can’t handle it because with the truck empty and camper empty it roars and the rpms go high even on the flat!! I’m very disgusted because I was looking into getting a custom aluminum rack for the back of the camper since Hollywood rack doesn’t recommend placing theirs on a tear drop camper rear... this custom made and the weight of the bike itself will add weight and then my necessities and water will probably overburden my Jeep truck so I am sad... my dream has turned into a nightmare now that I know the reality.... I wish I could turn around and sell the whole lock stock and barrel to someone and get a class b like you two enjoy.... this disconnecting and reconnecting is way too hard on me and part of me wants to put my big girl pants on and suck it up and master the damn thing but I fear it’s just not gonna work out because hauling this set up around the country is gonna suck gas and wreck my nerves.... well I guess I need to tackle the bike assembly ... wish I had someone to help me... thanks again for explaining the lock and now I’m wondering if the center console will fit with the lock there ??
    I guess in Faith I will order the chain you recommended and in Faith drive the camper to the Amish fella mid January for him to assemble a custom rear rack and keep trying to move forward with what I have... hey if ya know of anyone who wants my brand new Jeep truck and little guy winterized Max camper let me know and I will sell it all in a heart beat for what I now know I want...
    Thanks for encouraging me
    Rad on 👍😎☀️

      Wow, tough news on the new setup. I will say it is a crazy hot RV market right now, and if you did want to sell it it probably would not take long. (I guess depending on your area, but sounds like its cold...) Especially with a good looking Mojave and teardrop. Also, I will say the first time you do anything it will most likely take a while and also be frustrating. I bet the second time you do it, it is twice as fast and you will continue to improve. Gas engines are designed to rev higher than diesels( more HP less torque) and sometimes that makes it less enjoyable while towing. But, you should be fine even maxed at 4,200lbs on your trailer if you have a 6,000 lb capacity.
      On the bike, make sure to watch the assembly video first and then watch it again while pausing and do it step by step. You can do it! czcams.com/video/RVVMEnhCAaM/video.html

    When I'm out on my eBike, I carry a 4 amp charger (Amazon), and ask if I can charge it while I'm eating at a restaurant.
    If you spend forty minutes, you can get plenty of miles back. Also, Starbucks, and many public parks have outlets available. I also bought an extra battery to carry on longer rides. For guerrilla charging, I have one of those brown extension cords with multiple outlets on the end, a light socket adapter, and two 4 amp chargers. This way, on longer rides I can charge two batteries simultaneously, giving me 8 amps of current. I now have a habit of searching for 110 outlets when I'm out and about (riding or not), and make a mental note of where they are. I've found some in unexpected places.

    I’ve kept up with the Wynn’s ever since their very first TV appearance (on “House Hunters” if memory serves me). They must have found full-time RVing either too boring or limiting, which caused them to move on to sailing. But watching their first few Florida sailing episodes underscored just how expensive and limiting that sailing can be. Preparing for several days just to travel 300 miles down the coast seems silly to me, but of course now they are full-blown South Seas sailors. I often wonder if they felt like they made a mistake by going the full-time sailing life choice.

    I know y'all do because I caught in the video but be sure your battery charger has a green light for fully charge instead of 5 bars on the display. One of my rides I went by the 5 bars and in just a few minutes I was down to 4. On my way back home my last bar was flashing and I just barely made it, if I was fully charged I would have made it easily.

    Loved your 2-parter. Lived in SF for 25 years, miss it so much, and following along with you brought back so many memories: cycling around the city (don’t worry Aaron, there’s no shame in having to walk your bike in SF- I did a 40 mile race once and found myself hoofing it for a half-mile up Ocean Beach to the Cliff House), the financial district where I worked for 20 years, The Haight, the food, the neighbs, all of it-fantastic! One other thing, I’m a Midwest girl myself and when I moved to SF I was surprised to find really good German restaurants; the best of any place I’ve lived. Who knew? Thanks so much for sharing your adventure with this now-retired 65 year old. Left the Bay Area in 2005. Your video reminds me that I really did leave part of my heart in San Francisco.🥰

    I am happy you had a great time! I would bring along your chargers on your next e-bike adventures. Many restaurants let their patrons charge up their electric vehicles. You can also buy adapters that will allow you to connect to electric car chargers with your existing charger and get a little charging in quickly. Range anxiety is a big thing (particularly in San Francisco) and bringing along your charger or investing in quick chargers (5amp or larger) will allow you to offset much of the range anxiety. I upgraded my charger to a 5AMP quick charger and it really helps.

The spare batteries are about $549 so that is a big investment to consider. Would be cool to have an on board generator charging by pedal power or a solar panel. Maybe this would be a good application for the wind turbine!

    Hi guys! As you suspected, at least one of your viewers participated in the Summer of Love in the Haight-Ashbury - me! I was born in San Francisco in the 40’s - and spent a number of fun days in the Haight - and down in Aquatic Park (you rode past it when you left the bridge) listening to the beginnings of Santana. You drove past our old house on Marina Boulevard - and also past the St. Francis Yacht Club, with which I still have an affiliation. I would be happy to tell you about what the Haight was really like during the day - but not in a public comment. I left San Francisco for Stanford U and then Stanford Law - but I know every inch of the city. Your videos brought back a lot of memories - I thank you for that. If your daughter does not have any issues with riding a regular bike I would think she would do good on an ebike as well. Aaron, what are your thoughts about the lock for the battery? Secure enough to leave on the bike at all times or do you remove and if so when and why? I have heard that the batteries are a popular item to steal so some carry them with them when they "park' the bike.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  Před 3 lety

      I could image that in big cites or certain areas, the batteries could be a high theft item. They are $500 bucks a pop after all. But we don't worry much about it. I don't think the battery would get stolen at lunch or while grocery shopping, which is when we would leave it. Overnight at the campgrounds we also leave the batteries on, but ofcourse the bikes are locked up tight. That being said, it's not a bad idea/habit to always remove it, especially if you had a good charging spot to store them. Not much space in the van!

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  Před 3 lety

      Our models do not, but I found this article on the models that do.....
      Regenerative braking is a feature that recharges the battery when the brakes are applied. All Rad Power Bikes ebikes with a direct drive motor have this feature. The RadCity 4, RadCity Step-Thru 3, and RadWagon 3 have a direct drive motor that allows for regenerative braking.

    • @Mtnmanmike62
      @Mtnmanmike62 Před rokem

      Regenerative braking only works on the direct drive hubs. Most bikes now have geared hubs which disengage when coasting. Direct drive hubs work well on flat ground, but suck going uphill, so the benefits are really marginal as you have to get up the hill before you can regenerate coming down.

      Fun, congrats on the ebikes! We are really loving ours. We have been mostly in RV parks since getting the bikes so we haven't had to charge them off the coach batteries yet. We have 400 amps of lithium, so it won't be a problem, but I do need to do some testing to see how much they actually drain. It might take about 100 amps to charge two batteries because of the voltage difference of them. 48 volt vs 12volt.
