    Definitions:
Comendador: A Religious catholic noble knight fighting the moors in southern Portugal and Spain, and also becoming an overlord of captured moorish lands, only second to the Grand Master of a religious order. In other words, a comendador was a sort of vice-roy of recently captured territories from the arabs, having both the the power of a King and a Pope, acting as number 2, in the name of both. The expression "Comendador" lived on to the 20th century in the north of Portugal, as a status.
Engineer: Engineer means the same as engineer in english, but some banksters who didn't even finished the 4th grade wanted to be called "Senhor Engenheiro", by their secretaries. This happened mostly in the north in the city of Oporto. The people in Lisbon never accepted this stupidity of calling "Mr. Engineer" to some corrupt manager who didn't finish the 4th grade.
This is the equivalent of the germans calling "Herr Doctor" in respect of a profession or status, but without the guy having any degree.
