#Ikea #BuildChallenge #BossvsEmployee - Jak na to + styl
This was pretty fun to watch. Would like to see you do this again but with a single kitchen cabinet and them taking it serious and going straight to the store and back (plus lunch a the store because meatballs at IKEA are mandatory rule #1). Additionally they can’t assemble in the car because a single person wouldn’t be able to do that and drive.
Also I’d love to see you strength test your table vs the IKEA table to see which can hold more weight. Would be very interesting.
It needs to be one of the taller ones, so they are forced to take it with them and assemble it in the shop
@@darknessblades p
It's midnight and im watching a dude go to war with ikea.
CZcams in a nutshell
Are you not entertained?😡
Preparation for Black Friday coming up
I mean, it was midnight ND I watched magicians impress veterans and not tell them how they did it. It went as well as you'd think. So at least this one is satisfying.
Yep
I feel like a bedframe would be a pretty good test. It's more complicated and big enough that they can't start in the car, but still simple enough that you could probably compete.
I didn't know Sam actually left 😳 I thought he had just taken some time off.
Me too! I was just thinking, hmm, haven’t seen Sam in a video for a while…
Right I just thought he was busy off camera with personal stuff or something.
We're did sam go?
@@rodneysimpson5076 started his own stuff I think
I had no idea
Fun video - would like to see some more complex builds back in the rotation!
This video is for the algorithm. He has to do these to keep the channel profitable while also doing longer projects at the same time. He can pump out 10 of these while working on one of the longer projects.
@@robertpenn2152 I agree, better quality less often would get my vote ... like Blacktail studio.
I would love to see the crew to a large heirloom quality high detail entertainment center (or other centerpiece-like furniture) and auction it off
@@robertpenn2152 we have lots of channels to watch content on. If I'm not interested in this video there are plenty of others. Appealing to the masses allows them to keep making content we like that takes longer. I just pick and choose what I consume.
People having stress about putting together IKEA stuff is strange, I have put together just about anything from IKEA, including two kitchens and I am thinking about a third. I dont get that it's hard. ITs not the greatest quality compared to real wood though.
Patience is the real key. Not hard, but a lot of people (including myself) try and cruise through it without directions sometimes and make mistakes along the way. Patience is key with ikea. Haha
I really think that people just don't follow the instructions
agreed. it’s only frustrating if you ignore the instructions. which is, admittedly, 90% of the male population…..
You must be an Ikea master you legend
Agreed, I have 0 issues assembling any Ikea furniture, including as you mentioned, several kitchens. Now, assemble a few Ikea knock-off pieces of furniture and you begin to realize that Ikea actually has an insanely high level of quality. Yes, individual materials may be engineered to a minimum, but hole sizing and placement is absolutely spot-on at all times, something that cannot be said for many other flat-pack furniture manufacturers.
I'm a full time custom cabinet maker. I had my money on John from the get go because I know how fast something can get done if you know what you're doing😂
As a tiny apartment dwelling, no wood tools person, those Ikea Lack tables are pretty awesome for what they are. I've put a 80 lb laser printer on one for over 5 years without issue. I've actually got 4 of them stacked as a "shelf" with 3d printed braces to print them from misaligning (thanks to an Etsy creator for that!)
I had some Ikea furniture too. What I did is reinforced the heck out of it when I put them together with fasteners in locations where you don't see. 10+ years later, still one piece. LOL. But now, I would build my own instead of buying from IKEA.
Lack tables are pretty popular as "homelab" racks since the gap between the legs is the perfect size to fit rack-mounted equipment in like switches and servers. The coffee table variant even fits full depth datacenter rackmount servers.
Look up the Ikea Lack Rack or the Ikea Lack Enclosure for 3D Printers. They are insanely valuable for costing only $10.
I just found this guy yesterday and he's off the hook. All of his videos are great. I'm looking to getting into woodworking so I plan to keep an eye on this guy.
What would be cool would be doing a hardwood furniture piece that uses some of the engineering principles that ikea uses without the crappy building materials. Some of those fasteners are pretty cool once you get the hang of understanding them. And it lets you pack something such a small space. So the cool think would be for the boys to go to ikea to get a desk (or a bed) and for you to build a hardwood equivalent that could fit in the same packaging that the ikea products came in (maybe +20%).
Yeah, was wondering where Sam was... wonder why he left though, his job seemed fun!
If you're going to include the time to drive, stop twice for food, and play golf for an Ikea build then I think you should also include the costs of tools and materials, and time driving to the hardware store for a built-from-scratch build.
This was fun. I'd love to see something similar with a *slightly* more complicated build. Maybe something like a simple bookcase. I'd be curious to see whether it's faster to build one or buy and assemble one, but accounting for the time it takes to select the design.
Bunkbed. I have some fond memories of the bunkbeds my grandfather custom built almost entirely out of plywood - large enough for adults because he was a planner lol. I think that would present an interesting challenge!
a bunk bed using twins or queens would be pretty cool.
Love these little challenges! Gotta say, as a woodworker I've always had a problem with Ikea. This video really scratches that itch lol
Sad to hear Sam is gone he was entertaining. Cool build off though
Yeah, Sam is sorely missed! Once again.
This is the video that introduced me to your channel. I love your content so much. It just popped up in my feed again so I'm going to watch it a second time. This time I'm remembering to like and comment!
Love this challenge! I just wish there was more b roll of the finished product. Maybe a few seconds showing them side-by-side
At 3:50 William Montgomery winked. IYKYK
Lol Jordan complaining about his help gives me flashbacks of Sam complaining about his help… lol
you should make the Kallax next its a very popular shelf in the board game hobby cause it's exspanadle and the shell are the perfect size form most board games
If there's anything I've learned, if your boss issues a challenge and you win, good things usually happen.
Your Brother Looks like a young Norm Abrams!!!!! Love your Videos
We miss Sam too!!! Great video once again guys!! 👌
I didn't know about this until this video, what happened with Sam?
@@chrisschmid5268 at 2:15 John explains mate 👍
Love this channel but prefer the videos with more complex projects, I understand why you so these short videos but I would love to see you going back to the type of videos that I subscribed to, ones where I can learn something and be entertained at the same time. you guys are great.
It is a sad video when you find out Sam is no longer there 😢
You should make this a series! Maybe next time try a book shelf? Great video 👍
Was that Norm Abram Jr?
Every time he came on camera I thought it was Norm!!!!
Puts me in mind of Joshua Weissman. Love it.
Also, I miss Sam 😢
I would love to see yall build a bookshelf. Maybe with rough slabs????
You and your team put out great content, one of my favorite episodes yet!!!
Hilarious video ... definitely do another, but give them something more complicated to buy/build
The cut to golf galaxy had me rolling!😂
Only gripe is you used everything from stock. Would love to see a quick local hardware store stop for lumber. Make it a true test.
id be curious the cost of the hand built table. Since Ikea is so cheap i feel it would be much more practical.
Yea the IKEA is way way cheaper haha
3:50 I love this new camera man
Fun Video - Would like to see a Build it Cheaper, or Build it Better video. . have the wife pick out a coffee table, and then you have a day to build a better one, or a cheaper one.
Sad that Sam left, I liked him
Funny thing i built all ikea furniture upstairs in my house. Ikea is only a mile away. Anyways i took it in flat packed and assembled in each room. When it comes time to move i have no clue if it will fit thru the stairwell.
For losing looks like they are on shop cleanup duty for a week! Hahaha
Damnit man I'm gonna miss seeing Sam...
Fun video with a double Swedish touch. First IKEA, then John "singing" his very own version of The Final Countdown, by Swedish group Europe back in the 80's. Greetings from, yes you guessed it, Sweden...
Modern re-telling of the Turtle and the Hare(s)! LOL! Wonder if they have a good recipe for crow? Fun video. What's next
Which was cheaper? sheet of ply, bondo, brads, paint, pocket screws. 3 tables, turtle, advent calendar, meatballs, golf game, chic fillit. The most expensive part of IKEA is the add-ons. $20 table is usually $320.
Good job, I’m probably one person who’s never been to a IKEA store in North America. ❤
Never been but never say never
Same
Just come across your channel a couple days ago and watched quite a few videos now, not that interested in woodwork/carpentry usually but these challenges and the viral tiktok videos are so funny
Love your work. Not even a woodworker but just can’t seem to stop watching 😂
Me either…. Tools and I don’t agree…. But I enjoy watching people do what they do…
Great to see a Letterkenny insert! Great job guys!
This was hilarious! Brilliant stuff
Oh lol 😆 we got three of those end table thingys from the shopping mall ie: the spot at the end of the road where everyone dumps their used furniture etc. We left them outside and the tops peeled off. Inside was paper !!!! Mystery solved. Those were ikea ???? Lol 😅 😆 🤣
Having suffered the traffic around the Robinson IKEA more times than I can count, I think you could have made a fully cured epoxy river table before they got back lol
Love the videos John and the gang. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Fab on. Weld On. Build On. Keep Making. Stay squirrely. God Bless.
I'm definitely on team boss for this one, but that's mainly cause John actually needs to build something and I love woodworking :D
Also. How about bookshelves for the next Ikea vs john challenge? that should take awhile to assemble.
Very entertaining buddy! Love it!
Definitely do more of these. 😂 You say they were fucking around, but let's be honest, this was the most realistic IKEA trip ever.
Well, they could shortcut the process and assemble it while enroute. But if they wait till they get back to the shop - they are too late. You win! You rock!
I'm watching this 7 months after it was posted because I just started watching all of your content instead of just watching different epoxy stuff here and there from different channels. You are definitely going to beat the IKEA meatball kids especially in build quality
That was great. Fun shop fun boss.
I want to see you incrementall add more and more weight to the top of the Kia tables and the table you built to prove how much better you’re built is.
This is a good idea, I second this!
Do it next time with one of those stand alone closets. But since those things are a pain in the ass to put together from ikea, give you a handicap. You gotta build the framework and doors using wood from just 1 slab. So they gotta drive there and back and spend like 2-3 hours putting together a bunch of tiny pieces and you gotta mill your boards from scratch.
Wow amazing concept!!
I've never had an issue putting together Ikea furniture. I've gained the reputation as the person to call whenever one of my friends buys something from Ikea lol, it's fun
Getting strong turtle and the hare vibes from this challenge...I think the guys should have listened to that story more when they were younger...😄
10:10 _Bad Santa._ Great movie. Watch it this Christmas.
I don’t even know how football is played, and I don’t do woodwork, but I still enjoy watching!!! I kind of want to try to build something now.
Great video, but it depends highly on were the ikea store is located. I live 5 minutes away from a store and then I would be way faster ;-) I think the quality of ikea got way better and they're even relatively expensive. I like the furniture, it's even kind of robust. In my experience I got so far, is to never disassemble those, for me everything got a little bit wonky after doing so.
Great content thanks for sharing
Constantly being reminded that I'm most likely the only human alive that enjoys putting IKEA furniture together
I actually enjoy it as well
There's 3 of us!
Four of us!
From the start, I picked John. Figured the three of them would clown around.
So why did Sam leave, where did he go? Maybe another videographer job? He won’t have as much fun on his new job!
I bet it's John. The guys snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with not one but two food stops.
How is IKEA difficult to assemble? They literally have pictures guiding you through every step
1. Many consider following instructions beneath them
2. Think instructions too easy and miss steps, as they are disorganised.
3. Going with the crowd.
Think these 3 are the main ones but can be more
Plenty of people can't translate 2½D images on paper to the real world. Plenty of boys can only do it because they practiced from childhood by building legos
The boys really messed up by not stocking up on Ikea's bags of frozen meatballs, jars of lingonberry spread and Swedish pancake mix, etc. Yum!
In Midway John you gonna cruch them !! You are the boss
Need to do a strength comparison now. Which one will hold up better.
I'm 4 hours 1 way from an IKEA, I could smoke this challenge 😎
glad i found your channel man. love the content.
I've been using 3x of those $10 IKEA end tables for years. They're great.
I have four of their short 4x4 cubicle bookcases I paid $40 CAD each in 2007. Still going great!
IKEA is a great lace to get cheap furniture you aren't planning to keep forever, but which will still look reasonably nice for a few years.
Oh well. Those guys are toasted! 😂
Stay safe there with your families, guys! 🖖😊
Well, if I'd have known Team Employee would be intentionally handicapping themselves, I would have chosen differently.
Ikea makes some nice solid wood furniture like the Hemnes lineup that is cheaper to buy than to build.
love this content!!!
I was about to post "WHERE'S SAM?!?!?" but then you told us about Team Tyler.
Wish you made more like this!
I would like to see you buy the materials to make it and a cost comparison :) Including tools :)
To be fair, Ikea makes a damn good advent calendar.
class A insubordination right there!! Makes a fun video tho bahaha
I knew you were gonna win against the employees cause you're just that good!😉
Fun video but clearly not a serious challenge lol... I mean they definitely win if they just drove straight there, went in the parts entrance instead of the showroom floor, bought the tables and just went straight back.
I think it would have been fun to see which table could endure a strength test... like which one could you stand on without breaking.
Not knocking IKEA, though. I mean you can't really beat $10-$15 for a side table... even if it's made out of paper. They are surprisingly durable. You're really just setting some lightweight stuff on them, anyway. I'm sure if I had a full wood shop with table saws, a stock of all types of wood, and a dozen other tools, I'd prefer to make my table over buying it from IKEA, but that's not really going to be the case for the majority of people. :p
As if this video was meant to tell majority of people to build their own. You don’t even need a wood shop like this to build your own.
Book shelves would be interesting to see. The Ikea book shelves are fast to build.
And a Billy can't be build in the car :)
Make one of the most complicated storage things instead. Those with 10 drawers, some doors and things you realize it existed when ju drive it to the dump 10years later.
I have been looking for Sam this ENTIRE TIME. Dang. He was a blast.
Alright Tyler. Let’s see what you got.
Always awesome content
You should do another Ikea race for the Billy bookshelf.
Haha, "A pube under". Love it.
football is a game where the participants kick a ball! FOOT-BALL! what you are are talking about is a game where the participants throw an egg! HAND-EGG!! love yr show!!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Want to see the wrench chair that was built with the harbor freight wrenches (if it’s done or when it’s done)
LOL but ikea furniture is fun puzzles, I love them, leave me alone with some flatbacks and I'll be happy for how short it last before I finished.
What!? Why did Sam leave? 😱😥
