Before i clicked on this i thought no. 1 has to be Psalm of Lydia (gnarly sweep shapes), This Godless Endeavor (big stretches/outrageous stamina required) or Miles of Machines... you didn't disappoint! Love this series Justin, Michael Romeo at some point would be awesome

Emppu Vourinen of Nightwish. At first glance, his guitar plays semmed simple, but it's more complicated and he does have unique style of making guutar riffs sounded 'simply enjoyable'. Cheack out Nightwish - Gethsemane, Everdream, etc.

Probably an unpopular opinion, and even though I've outgrown that band, but some of my favorite solos are from the first two Deicide albums. The Hoffman brothers. I just love that particular style of shred guitar.

Isn't River Dragon easier then I Voyager sweeps? :p
I wouldn‘t say necessarily, the sweeps are basic six string sweeps… the tricky part here is the little run at the end of every sweep. River dragon is a bit more complex when it comes to picking (mixing sweeps with the cromatical runs), endurance and what not. Yes it gets easier as soon as you got the patterns under your fingers, because it constantly repeats

I feel like I don't really hear people talk about Loomis that much compared to other virtuoso players.
Because if they did, there would be no reason to discuss the other ones.
