I never heard of your orange crate bike before. Orange is my favorite color and I love that bike. I never had a bike but I had a Herman Munster skateboard. I was skateboarding in the middle 60's like a pro. I did curbs and hills and wore out plenty of sneakers. It wasn't a trend when I did it. In fact I was the only person who skateboarded. I was cool before it became popular. I never had anyone to skateboard with so being solo and to pass the time that is how I self taught the moves in which you see in today's youth. I think your orange crate is special. Thank you once again for sharing this story.

I remember as a kid finding my Dads bike that he rode in the 30s-40s buried in our basement. It was beautiful! Dark maroon with beige pinstriping down both fenders, even the rims were painted to match. The tire treads were molded to look like chain links. It had two saddle bags with turn signals and tail lights. I remember a generator next to the tire like you have, but it was much larger. On the upper frame was a simulated gas tank and I seem to remember Indian heads, possible painted or decals on the sides. Streamers hanging from the handgrips. Dad said he used to ride that bike up and down the dirt trails of Pennypack Park, decade before they were officially turned into the paved bike and walking trails we have today. When I was old enough to go out bike riding myself, me and my friends would explore those same trails in the park, and we got to watch the gradual transformation from dirt and gravel to paved blacktop.
As for Dads bike, it got thrown out in one of their basement cleanings. Hopefully someone got it and took good care of it.

Good thing Randy didn't accept that "generous" offer of 50 bucks!

My brother had a basic silver Sting Ray.. I was born later, after those weren't made anymore... but I did get to try my brother's vintage bike. It was cool.

My Dream bike when i was i kid....But expensive like 105 bucks backs then. I had to settle for the schwinn fast back..like 80 bucks...lucky i got that. Never said anything and was happy that i got a new bike. I rode my bike to the arcade all the time to play pinball like 5 miles away. I put so many miles on that bike that i had to get new tires....

i had the same light and blinkers also with the generator on the back wheel the faster you went the light would get brighter. When you cam to a stop no light....

There's a 1980's Twilight Zone in which a merchant buys memories to sell to the wealthy. The protagonist becomes desperate and sells a memory. Just his first kiss or something: gone. The pay is pretty good, so he sells more memories. Eventually, after selling every significant memory, he realizes he's an empty person and has a conflict with the memory dealer. Ultimately, he takes all of his earnings to fill himself back up with the memories of other desperate souls.

Memories are bits and pieces which make us who we are throughout experiences.

Guy offered you 50 bucks for a bike that's worth 2500.00+ if you wanted to sell and that is priceless to you...🙄🙄

I get this stuff all the time.
Blood sucking parasites looking for some idiot to sell valuable things for next to nothing because they don't know the worth, or care about the items.
I almost never sell anything, and I typically don't even want to talk about it when someone approaches me to do me a "favor".
