    Not gonna lie, I honestly want to buy the Mythos Mjolnir just because it's named Mythos Mjolnir.

      Totally get it. I not only want the Tumnus, but the Tumnus model with the actual picture of Mr. Tumnus on it for a similar reason. 🤣

    I love my tumnus deluxe--lots of useful settings. I mainly vary the mids and the gain, and no matter where I put the knobs, I get a great tone.

    That oxblood has a very nice texture. It envelopes the note properly. A great sound

    I love my Oxblood it's just so versatile but because of that you have to play with it with in your rig. I had it as more of a distortion in my rig when I 1st got it but now since I have other gain pedals I use it as a clean boost/front end pusher and it's GREAT!

    I think for the money---SOUL FOOD and simply roll some tone off...if they did a blind test you could not tell all 7 apart...they all sound similar...but the visual and price point always gets ya...
    Mjolnir
    Soul Food
    Tumnus

    Nice comparison. The Ryra has some harmonics going other pedals don't provide.

    Hey: nice shootout ! The Mjolnir and Tumnus are very good, although the Ryra has got this typical sponginess typical of the Klon (that I only get on my Super Signa drive from CmatMods...) Cheers !

  • @joeschlicht
    @joeschlicht Před 3 lety +2

    Wow, most shootout clips I prefer the Ryra, but here I think I prefer the silver Archer, which is never the case in other shootouts (although most use the gold Archer). The Mjolner sounds great too, if a little different. I leaning towards the Ryra myself or the Mythical Overdrive by Rimrock which seems like a good one too (from clips).

    + 1 for Wampler Tumnus Deluxe, more tone options for all kind of guitars: versatility.
    +1 Electro-Harmonix Soul Food for the price

  • @joebowers3060
    @joebowers3060 Před 3 lety +1

    There are 2 elements to consider when comparing these pedals. The obvious is the tone generated from each one. But what you totally missed was what it would take to push into overdrive from a clean boost setting. This review & demo could have been a lot better had the second part been factored in.

  • @antoniocanales9922
    @antoniocanales9922 Před 3 lety +1

    I feel that the Oxblood got kind of neglected in this episode. That pedal easily gets the second (or first, arguably) place. Having the phat option as well as two clipping modes is a plus you can't find in any of these. Also, that treble BITES great, and you can tame it in different ways with the knobs.

  • @livingthedream137
    @livingthedream137 Před 3 lety +1

    Yeah Mythos MJ sounds the best at high gain. Sounds great!
    The Ryra sounds great at lower gain.
    The Wampler Tumnus sounds good all around but a little thick down low but I bet that can be tailored to sound awesome.
    I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those three. Although I do wonder how lowest gain sounds on the MJ and Tumnus. Also you can’t beat a Narnia reference, sorry you just can’t.

  • @raleighdentcompany

    I have a TC Mojomojo. It's an undercover Klon clone. It's not marketed as such, but seriously, for the money, you cannot beat it.

      The mojo sounds best on a driven amp in my humble opinion for the price you can't go wrong

  • @nickardasis4
    @nickardasis4 Před 5 lety +1

    How's the Ryra at bedroom volume? I want it to give some girth to my sound and push my amp into breakup. I use the V40 Deluxe as well and it's probably going to be my first pedal. Good comparison video by the way, keep up the good work guys.

    Alot of these sound like a slightly driven Vox amp to me. I think I'd go for the Ryra. But honestly, how do these sound in a mix? is it better to have a bit more high end bite ( soul food and some others ) that allows one to hear it better?

    • @mendoxx097
      @mendoxx097 Před 4 lety +1

      Well... you can try it first buying a soul food and if you think it's not just Sell it, I mean... You would only loose like... what, 20 dollars? XD

    • @b.j.surfdog3724
      @b.j.surfdog3724 Před 4 lety +2

      @@mendoxx097 I've HAD the Soul Food and at least 3 others ( varying $ amounts ) that approach the Klon sound. I'm happy with what I've got and use them mostly in a recording environment. I think trying them as you say is always the best thing to do. This shootout was a great idea and I had to smile as the presenter said they ALL are good and have something to offer. And....I still stand by the Vox statement as it was on the scene first and set a standard for alot of these "Transparent" overdrives.

  • @lmpombo
    @lmpombo Před 4 lety +2

    Well, I have all of these and what I can say is none is a bad pedal. In terms of the theme of this video, from my experience, the one which sounds the closest to the real thing from this bunch is the Ryra.

    • @sunder5686

      Yes but which one do like/use the most? I really like the ryra, acher ikon, and tumnus deluxe. Personally i really like the acher ikon the most but i probably use the tumnus more, its a better tool for tone chasing
