I can hardly wait to see how you restore those quilts. I retired nearly 7 years ago. I had made or pieced together a couple of quilts before that but never got them quilted. I took up quilting when I retired and have finished 14 quilts and have about 6 pieced together but not quilted. I am working on 3 more quilts as I speak. I sew them on the sewing machine but when I put batting and backing on them I do the hand stitch. I have always loved to sew. I made my and my children clothes when they were growing up. These quilts you just showed are beautiful and being hand pieced together I know took a lot of time. Thank you so much for sharing these. I have my mother's and grandmother's quilts they made.

Boy oh boy! What a wonderful bunch of quilts you showed. It tugs at my heart strings: thinking of this wonderful woman cutting and stitching by hand, hour after hour. What a labour oof love she has left behind for you to find. My imagination is buzzing in my head wondering so many things like where did she get her fabric? Was it recycled clothing? Oh the mysteries of a quilter. I am happy someone who appreciates the time and work put into them has found them. Enjoy

I was so thrilled with this video that I watched it two times in a row!! I am so excited for you to own these quilts and I am really looking forward to the upcoming videos of you finishing them. It always seems so unbelievable that a family member didn’t want to keep these. We can only hope that they kept many that were completely finished. Thanks for the advice about not keeping quilts in a cedar chest. I have three or four in mine so I will be removing them. Happy quilting…………….

WOW! Hi my name is Heather, I’m a small time quilter. I usually make a few quilts per year. I usually make quilt tops after Christmas and before springtime. Otherwise, I’m too busy. But, your quilt top finds are amazing. What I’d give to have found them. Each one takes a tremendous amount of work. I always wonder what the person piecing a quilt is thinking. Their problems, someone else’s problems, what they’re going to prepare for supper. That the kind of thoughts I have. Or if you’re making it for a certain person, how much you love them, and if they will cherish it. New viewer here, but I’m excited to see what you do to them. Oh and hello from Kentucky!

Such a great find. So glad those quilts will be finished and become what they were meant to be. I learned to finish quilts as a younger woman from an Aunt. Maybe your favorite hand sewn one.
I was lucky enough to get a quilt top made for my mom that her mother pieced in 1959. It had the family’s old clothes and feed sacks. I quilted it for her. Then I did one of my Aunt’s made by her mom. Then an old maid aunt gave me hers and one a lady in Kentucky made for her. The one from KY was hand sewn.
So that was a treat for me to be given the tops and then the pleasure of quilting something my Grandma had pieced.
Quilting is my passion. I have so much fabric. I’m crazy. But it brings me so much joy.
But I don’t have to tell you. You have a shop full. And you know when a collection is sold out they don’t usually bring it back. So you buy it.
Sorry I have gone on so long.

The polyester one you need to use flannel for batting and anti pill for the backing. I have done this with the ones I have been able to find in ebay. This came be machine quilted and it will be the warmest blanket you will ever have machine quilt 6 inches apart. It will be a treasure for a long time and it will drape beautiful. The colors are from the 50s to the 70s. And I bet it was from a quilting gild. Nice old quilts. I have been lucky to get a box at a auction that no one noticed. I know just how you feel.

What a find! I have recently purchased two old quilt tops and am anxious to watch you as you restore the quilts you have. I know it will help me tremendously! I agree that the spiderweb quilt is amazing! I have not seen or heard of the spider web ruler.....Can you give me some info on that? Have you done a video to show how to use it??

I love polyester quilts because they do not wear out like the cotton ones do.

I just watched your wonderful video on the quilts.oh I am so ex cited about it.
Please tell me you don't store your quilts in plastic long term.
I am Retired from my tailoring shop of 37 years. I have repaired quilts . I also had a dry cleaning service.
I had ladies bring good clothes in that they stored in plastic long term with what we called environmental stains and yellowing. Would not come out.
I didn't make quilts I repaired and monogrammed names on them.
I have made one t shirt quilt for a client.
I have to say I am not a fan of polyester either. The one you have is so lovely. I like all the colors.
The last quilt you have spiderweb oh my!! all the colors amazing
When you show it again I would love more close up shots of it and whatever Time you have.
Thank you for sharing your find. What a blessing
Maybe you can find family of this lady that has some info and more quilts that they reviewed as gifts.

I believe we have figured out who made the quilts. Just verifying. Also, the plastic bags are for during the time they are waiting to be quilted. We’ve done that for years. They don’t stay in them long. 😁

What a beautiful treasure. I’m so happy you found them. I like to hear when old quilts are found by another quilter or collector to be treasured and given the recognition they deserve. I’m curious…what were they selling them for?

The owner passed away. She was a huge quilter, seamstress, and crafter in general.

I love a good string quilt. I'm a scrappy fan but love anything star. I like that you are not overly concerned about everything being perfect. Thanks for all your tips. ✌🏻♥️

@@diannenaworensky6698 you sound just like me. I love scrappy and I love stars. I love old quilts. And no, I’m not overly worried about anything being perfect. If it’s close, I’m fine with it. It’s never going to be “perfect”. My motor is “done is better than perfect”. Also, we are in Clanton, Alabama. Center of the state

Maybe you can put shape flex on the back of the torn fabric. I've repaired a couple like that to keep the original fabric.
