Had Masi let all the cars unlap, still would’ve ended the same.
That would likely have ended the race under the safety car, letting all the lapped cars through would have taken too long to have that final lap of racing. Meaning Hamilton would have won
@@Mr.N0B0DY. which is why he only unlapped the cars that mattered. So ham wins cuz shumi pushed Tifi off the line. If it happens one lap earlier, all the cars unlap and max wins. It was a compromise

@@darknutgaming5510 it was actually breaking the rules though. Ignoring the lapped cars issue, the safety car ended earlier than what the regulations state. Even if there were no lapped cars, the safety car should have gone in at the end of the following lap. But once again, that would have meant the race ends under safety car and Hamilton wins. The way that race ended didn't follow the regs, that's why Masi got fired because of it. No matter how you spin it, the fact that there was a safety car that late in the race would have secured Hamilton the win if all rules were followed.

Thanks for the breakdown, I think maybe take a look at the previous seasons and how other rookies compared to the eventual winner
Maybe the precedent was circumstantial, The award wasn’t necessarily meant for the highest placed rookie but it just happened to coincide, How close was the 2nd best rookie in 2019, 2020, 2021 compared to the eventual winner?
And yh it’s highly possible that he was disqualified due to not technically being a rookie.
Yeah Logan was robbed. Filling in for one or even a few rounds shouldn't exclude you from a rookie award when you do your first full season.
They should’ve instead broken the president in 2034, after all Ollie Bearman literally got a clean sweep in Baku and was tied for most wins that season sooooo

The rules state; Once the LAST lapped car has OVERTAKEN the leader and safety car, the SAFETY CAR will come in at the END of the FOLLOWING lap, that LAP BEING the END of LAP 58.
Masi got put in a position to decide the championship. If he doesn't unlap the cars he gives it to Hamilton, if he unlaps the cars he gives it to Verstapen.

The only fair way to resolve it wasn't really mentioned until later. If Masi was so committed to a green flag finish, He should have red flagged it with 4 laps to go! If you discount one for an in lap and another for a formation lap that's still 2 laps with both cars on fresh tyres to decide the championship.

Hamilwhinge did NOT get robbed of a championship at all, firstly everyone has a small memory and seem to forget Wolff saying that max was only 2 dnfs in front of Lewis.......then Silverstone happened..... anyway going back to Abu Dhabi, Merc screwed hamilwhinge over with no pitstops to change tyres, so many idiots think he was robbed, nah he should be getting ready to retire, he is a hypocritical whinging sput.
Like to see him go to one of the back end teams and get decent results......won't happen because pewis can't win it unless he is in the fastest car

@@KidLatin27 I get you. However, it was a clear robbery in terms of the championship and considering the results Hamilton obtained after that incident it probably stings those Hamilton fans to know that he should be the 8 time champion but masi fucked him over.
It may not be on the same level but it's akin to asking someone to forget about 9/11 even if they suffered a loss because of it, since it was just over 22 years ago. The mind is a complicated thing that doesn't find it easy to let go of wrongdoings whether perceived or real
@@Mr.N0B0DY. yeah that's true was the race a bit conversion Yes I will definitely atmint but still Max versteppen is a great champion whenever you like that or not and besides I'm a NASCAR fan myself as well and I've seen plenty of my favorite drivers get screwed over for race wins and championships 😊.

@@pikminologueraisin2139 I’m trying to get into MotoGP - even went to COTA last year. But the sprints every weekend and aero turns me off… maybe I’m mistaking but MotorGP 5-15 years ago seemed amazing now…. Idk
I mean, they waited an eternity to make a decision about the lapped cars, instead of doing it as soon as possible. Problem was merc was on the phone lobbying for the lapped cars to stay, because they made a strategic error not putting Lewis. And redbull were lobbying for the cars to unlap themselves because they made the right choice to put. The real blunder was the I decisive decision making. Either way redbull wins
