  • The exuberance of maiolica, painting on tin-glazed earthenware, attracted Caroline to ceramics and her interest in surface pattern led to tile-making.
Through a spontaneous brushwork language she explores the pattern effects of everyday life; these are imprinted, often unconsciously, on our mind's eye. She uses natural colour oxides which sink into the glaze surface during firing, giving depth and interest.
My Workshop is named after a 16th century Italian, Cipriano Piccolpasso, who wrote 'The Potter's Art' published in 1548. Piccolpasso also means ‘little step'.
