Got one a few months ago and I’m honesty in love with it. Definitely my first pick for a weapon if there’s ever a situation where you need one. Unless you’ve got some massive property where you need rifle level range, if you’re just protecting your home I couldn’t think of a better gun

One aspect about the Beretta 1301 that I love is it's deceptively small size. When many people first see a 1301, they initially think it's an SBS (Short Barreled Shotgun) because it looks so short. Beretta has managed to make the barrel on the 1301 look shorter then it actually is. Add this to it's light weight and features, and you've got an Awesome shotgun.

The reason the 1301 "looks" shorter when compared to other shotguns is it's shorter LOP, not any type of "smoke and mirrors" magic on the visual aspect of the barrel.

@@kwb377 well and also the much longer foregrip/rail that covers that barrel, the m4 has a very short LOP also however doesn't get confused as a SBS compared to the beretta

    • @atadbitnefarious1387
      @atadbitnefarious1387 Před 2 lety +4

It looks like it has a shorter receiver than most shotguns, which probably helps.
If you ever see an 18 inch double or single barrel, they look almost *too* short. But that's just because they have very short receivers which lends themselves to a short overall length.

Plus it has the fastest trigger system there is. It’s super smooth and comfortable. It’s about $500 cheaper, though the 1301 is still expensive. I was a little disappointed that I was having to settle until about 2 seconds into shooting it and realized just how fantastic it is. I recently (Friday) found an M4 at my usual gun shop for sale, and really didn’t have any buyers remorse. Really impressed with just how good this thing is.

I’ve used a beretta a40 for duck hunting-the a400 is the second iteration of the BLink I think- and I’ve dropped it in the mud way too many times and I’ve never had a malfunction. It’s a phenomenal system and it’s super easy to work on/clean. It’s comparable to a short stroke piston or a gas tappet system in terms of both disassembly and operation. It’s one of my favorites and I think it’s a real contender against the benelli

Beretta 1301 Tactical is the best semi-auto shotgun ever made. To compare it with Benelli M4 reminds me about comparing Mossberg 590 to Remington 870. Difference in between these two pump-action shotguns are that Mossberg 500 (590) doesn’t have anything stupid on it, but Remington 870 doesn’t have anything that is not stupid. The same explanation is valid to describe differences in between 1301 and M4. Beretta factory is 498 years old factory, 441 years older than Benelli. Keep good work!

Here's why you care about that bolt being faster: because it's *lighter.* And the reason why you care about it being lighter is because it will cycle grossly weak 12 gauge shots that the M4 won't. It also translates into a touch less kick against you, because the mass of the bolt is a contributing factor on a shot-to-shot basis. Also, we're not humping these on a 5-mike through dusty environments. The M4 may be battle-proven -- I'm not arguing that -- I'm arguing that in the conditions we're going to be using our shotguns, the extra 'beef' of an M4 is a detriment, not a benefit. To that end, the 1301 is winning competitions, and the M4 is rarely even used. But if you examine what wins a competition, you'll see that it has a lot do with what wins a gun-fight: _it's the _*_first_*_ to put metal on target._ ... and that's where the 1301 outshines the M4, as proven by competitions.

My A390st has fired at least a house worth of ammo through it without any parts breakage. Everything from lightweight bird shot to slugs. No issues. Has killed everything from clay through deer. If the new 1301 is anywhere near as durable it will give the Benelli a run for its money.

The 1301 has run everything, even light rounds during the break in period. I have full confidence in both. I do find the 1301 is easier to operate with it's superior controls - @garand was absolutely correct regarding the controls. There's nothing wrong with the m4's controls, the 1301's are just better. The thing that most impressed me that I find is not noted in many of the reviews of this weapon I found online is the perfect weight balance that you get between the rear stock and front end of the gun. The M4, aside from it being heavier, felt top heavy toward the barrel in my hands. I think the even weight balance makes the recoil to weight ration so impressive for the Beretta 1304. It feels balanced in the hands while aiming as well. Reminds me of a mid engine Porsche. Just perfectly engineered without unnecessary bells and whistles.

I had a nightmare with my 1301. Out of the box, the barrel was not aligned correctly in the barrel extension such that the front sight post was off to the side and the the mag tube and barrel were not parallel. The gas block being twisted was my biggest concern as the piston would not ride properly on the mag tube, causing it to wear faster. Beretta said it had to go back for warranty repair so I ship it off to them. Eight months and lots of phone calls later, they tell me it needs a new barrel…well Duh, I could have told them that. Next problem is that barrels are on back order. Four months later, yeah, that’s right, a year after shipping it back, I get it back, open the box, and the alignment is even worse than with the original barrel (that I had asked to get back since it had the original serial number, but they kept it). Back on the phone and this time they agree to let me keep the gun and just send me a new barrel. A month or so later I get another barrel, slap it in, and the sight post is welded to the end of the barrel off center…at least the gas block is aligned correctly so I don’t feel bad shooting it. Back on the phone with Beretta again and another barrel is on the way. I get the next barrel a month later, throw it in, and finally everything is aligned correctly. Never mind that the end of the sight post looks like it was struck with a chisel several times and some dimpling on the inner surface of the post that looks like someone put a bar in there to twist it. At least everything is straight now. Anyways, four barrels and 14 months later, my 1301 is fixed as much as it’s going to get. So check your 1301 for proper alignment. Take off the fore-end, flip the gun over, and look to make sure the mag tube is parallel with the barrel, and check that your front sight post is vertical. I went to Scheel’s in Sparks, NV where they had at least a dozen 1301s on racks such that anyone could pick them up and inspect. Out of the dozen there, at least half had a front sight post that was not vertical. I couldn’t tell without taking the fore-end off, but I imagine several of those also had the gas block twisted to the side such that the barrel and mag tube were not parallel.

    Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
I'm in high-level protection, and the 1301 offers an extremely rare opportunity own a phenomenal weapon at a fantastic low price: it could be priced a lot closer to the Benelli M4 (also owned by Baretta).. it's faster than the M4 (you can't out-run it), fasts reloads are a LOT easier than the M4 (especially as you avoid the M4 issue of getting your thumb busted), has Barreta quality, handles all loads effortlessly and is significantly cheaper. It's more streamlined shape allows for more snag-free deployment. The M4 however, is sexier.
    Thanks for the great video..

Thanks for the great video! The Benelli 1301 Tactical is designed for acceptable felt recoil using low recoil loads from 1200 to 1325 fps. The lightweight allows you to put 12 rounds on the shell carriers, a light, a red dot and a sling on the weapon without the overall weight being burdensome.

I have shot a beretta a300 for waterfowl for years… I clean it once a season I don’t care how muddy or filled with branches and shit it gets. My gun has never once jammed (except for feeding turkey loads). On every hunt I have been on, guys running benelli super black eagles have issues and spend 15-20 minutes trying to fix their gun every hunt. I know there is obviously a lot of differences between hunting and tactical shotguns, however, I’m extremely impressed with my beretta a300. I prefer shooting it over my browning Maxus any day. I’ve literally shoved bean stalks behind the bolt and shot it just to prove to my friends it cycle through anything.

The 1301's bolt release also obviously has a lever attached to it, which gives you more strength/leverage to actuate it if you press down on the far end of the lever, which I presume makes it very EASY to release the bolt! That's excellent.

I love my Benelli M2. All I did was put a 10 round tube, improved lifter, enlarged bolt handle and release and a flashlight on it. I am a fan of the M4 and the Beretta as well but have found that my M2 is more versatile when it comes to being useful for hunting too by throwing on a 26" barrel. Being a poor slob I have to always consider how versatile my kit is.

For me, my M2 & 1301 are meant for hunting and home defense. I have a M2 with an interchangeable rifled slug barrel for deer hunting that the M4 or 1301 don’t offer. The remaining 11 months of the year it’s in home defense mode with it’s smooth bore barrel attached. For me to pick my favorite is like picking which child I prefer. They’re both incredible shotguns, but at least Benelli gives me the option to do something more with it…kindof like my kid that studied harder and has a better job. Love ‘em both though!!!

the new M4 is heavier, has a lot of new features, and costs quite a bit more than before; still an amazing weap for self defense. 1301 is awesome no doubt, even like the A300 as a more affordable option for those with budget constraints. Check out the new M4 though i think you will be “blown away”… impressed with it.

This video is spot on. I have the 1301 comp. 21 inch barrel. I prefer that because I can load 1 extra round for competition. I also prefer beads as opposed to rifle sights on my shotguns. Also makes a Burris fast fire easier to use due to beads being out of the way where sights block everything. My buddy has the M4. Mine cost 1350. His. 2150. Recoil is harder on mine to be sure but not a huge factor in any 3 gun match that I've noticed except at the end of the day, I'm rubbing my shoulder a bit more than Scott. I smoke him in reloads though. I prefer my butt stock to his pistol grip version for comp, but I use both just fine. Both have their charms. Both have their cursed. Neither one has anything I would pass on the gun over. I like em both!
