Thanks Russ for the best videos on YT covering the Alpex. Must have watched all of them 3 times over and just bought my Alpex A50 from Redbeck Shooting.
Thanks Mark, I made similar headway on them (over two nights) a week later with the Pard DS35-70RF, then wait till you see how the 98minute waste tip ratting went. :) Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
Hi these are the gen.2 Primos Trigger Sticks from JohnRotheryWholesale (available from your local gun shop), and I replace the standard rubberised V-rest with a BOG Ultralight clamp, bought from SportsmanGunCentre. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
I've already paid for a new Pard DS35-70RF, because I really need the LRF for airgun pest control, plus the Pard's half the weight of the Alpex (with it's IR). I'll be advertising one of my two Pard008S-LRFs today, as sadly I can't afford to have both. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
Some thoughts : 1. Shooting live quarry with untested and unfamiliar equipment ? 2. Bad reticle choice for precision shots ? 3. Vagueness around exact amount of hold over required at this range ? 4. Intentional body shots resulting in wounding ? What this video really shows is that too much equipment coupled with a lack of familiarity and experience with that equipment leads to poorly executed pest control. Thank you for providing a great example of how many pitfalls await us along the path to becoming proficient at this.
(Sigh) 1, 2 & 3: the kit was fully tested and zeroed, I simply initially forgot to add a smidgin' of holdover for shots into the crevice, perhaps as I've been spoiled by using a Pard with ballistic calculator aimpoint for some time now. 🤷🏻♂️ 4. The rat I shot solidly centre-mass from behind wouldn't have survived, but whether it passed-away before its companions had it for supper is another question (I've seen rats eat the fallen during nocturnal sessions). Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
@@RussDouglas222 (Sigh)? Whats with the sigh? It sounds to me like the comment you are sighing about is from someone who shoots, not some anti, although i maybe wrong. Your attitude of, it would have died eventually, shows very little respect for the quarry you are controlling. Surely for humane pest control or any other live quarry shooting we should all do our upmost to eliminate the possibility of "whether it passed-away before its companions had it for supper is another question" The rat shot at 15.00 was clearly shot low stomach or haunch. Either way, a slow and painful death, eaten alive or not. Not a good example for new comers to the sport of how to humanely dispatch pest or any other quarry.
@@edd9384 I didn't edit out that shot to show that I'm not perfect, although it does wrangle me, so yes from the moment I saw that pellet land I absolutely sought to do better next time. But I do care, and the alternative is the many rodenticide bait traps dotted around the premises, which certainly do not offer a perfect humane solution either. Cheers. Russ
Nice night in the shelter of the barn happy shooting rats ,all you needed was a cup of tea and a bicky 👍👍👍 Oh what to spend my money on , Haven't see the comparisons between the pard 35 and the hik did I miss it ?
Hi Steve, takes a fair bit of patience and dressing sensibly, as it gets bl00dy cold sitting still for an hour or two. Nope fear not, I'm working on two DS35-70RF videos right now, plus an AirMaks Arms Krait review. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
@@stevevw34 Cheers, though rather inconceniently I don't like tea or coffee, so I just have to layer-up. Thick socks & my Jack Pyke 'Hunter' boots help a lot with cosy feet. I'm also hoping to borrow a HIKMICRO Stellar scope sometime soonish for comparison with a Pulsar Thermion2 LRF XQ50 Pro, and a HIKMICRO Cheetah (think Alpex in Panther shape with IR & LRF, hopefully lighter too) -all for honest reviews. 👍 Cheers. should have got a sports car for your mid-life crisis m8 it would have been cheaper and more reliable lol not sure why anyone would choose a reticle with no cross in the center or dot ?? ps been a gunsmith for 36 years.
Are you watching this on a tiny screen? Even on my phone I can see the red T-shaped reticle and its small central cross. But thanks for 'watching', cheers. Russ
