I love that you named this "My Own Dumb Top 10" because it's clearly the figures you love and I respect that. I feel like a lot of toy reviewers say what people want them to hear rather than giving their own personal opinions. Some really unique choices here. I'm a TMNT fan, but I actually dislike how the Heat Boys robots look. Not my cup of tea. Which makes me respect you choice even more. You've got something special going with your show, mate. Part 1 2024 First Assessment
Alright, I watched the video and enjoyed it. 2024 is the year where I'm going to finally try to get my CZcams channel under a different name rolling. I've now spent so long researching, but when I was watching this, I was appreciating how difficult it actually is or would be to just go on talking about figures or whatever, actually talking about figures might be one of the more difficult things to do, and you do it effortlessly seeming and with humor and all that. It is amazing what you do, I don't think people realize how it isn't easy to do it at all, and even if people manage then they aren't also clear communicators who are also humorous on top of it, and these appear to be improvised candid takes with little to no planning involved as compared to very scripted things people have written for themselves.
One set of comments referred to the flashing effects and people potentially having seizures instead of watching your videos, and another comment said your green screen is reflecting on you. I watched this video on my phone, my laptop, and my big television screen, and I didn't notice you looking any less or more Simpson-like and jaundiced than usual, so are these people not familiar with your yellow-face appearance? Someone also commented on your brushing your teeth, but perhaps they were mocking the light sensitive comments as if they were trying to tell you what to do? Someone else interpreted that comment as being rude about your teeth, but I don't know.
It is so funny that there is so much tension and drama right off the bat at the beginning of the year, with bad things underway across the world and continuing in especially one place, chaotic weather all year with more expected, a big Earthquake in Japan, and people potentially shaking on the floor from watching the first few seconds of your latest video. All this is weighing on me as well as I've been wanting to make a CZcams channel for years now, having been on CZcams since 2006 right in the beginning, and also watching this channel grow from the beginning (much later on),
I have also watched the rise and fall of many channels and the careers of a number of people, as well as extremely disturbing cases of people who have been trying for like 8 and 12 and more years and have perfectly good seeming videos and get a mere few 100 views or so, and they somehow don't give up (but in their cases they really have to try something different or pivoting within CZcams because it is just not working for them somehow). Personally, I'm near Frozen with fear (Let It Go),
and I can't even think of what name I would want, if I want the name Foxy and then some piece of garbage cancel person finding all my comments online against civilian mass murders getting the Zionists and Israeli Propaganda units trying to cancel me years later for comments against what they're government and military are doing to civilians today. I hate this world and the internet and that now there is practically no way to make enough money to buy a home or achieve even what was normal in the past in a timely manner without at least some kind of "side hustle" that isn't maybe as energy consuming as getting to multiple jobs.
Now that I've got that off my chest (though I still feel like there is a lot filling my chest and ear also, after getting some kind of ear issue after putting in ear plugs during noisy construction that never even finished or did anything in this small building except now I have an endless electric noise in my ear and a feeling of swelling in it, making talking even less comfortable), I'll resume with my feedback for this video:
I'm very happy you're testing new things and will be testing new things throughout the year, and please don't be discouraged from trying all kinds of new things.
I'm going to provide for you brutally honest feedback throughout the process, and that is because I'm very invested in this channel and care a lot about your progress and success, as I also relate a lot to your overall life, experiences, and character/personality.
This video gave an impression to me of being somehow lower quality and lower production value than your other videos, where the impression of highest quality so far have been in your videos from the U.K. and even recent Japan videos where you're just sitting there talking about stuff with your toys behind you. Somehow this first test of the full screen thing, which was fun to see and you'll keep working on how to make it improve videos, didn't send the signal to my senses of making the video seem improved or of a better quality, or even more interesting. The speaking and dialogue was good, the images were good, but this visual display or the way the visuals were didn't look very nice or fancy to me or helpful.
Also, even though people in general can be annoyed by trying to cater to every sort of medical issue or psychological issue these days, the flashing, fore, jolting, all that stuff didn't seem to excite or impress me, though I did find it a little funny, especially with the idea that it was causing problems immediately and had the best of intentions. It too seemed to cheapen the quality of the video and the production, it also seemed a little annoying and amazingly I think worst looking effects would be more humorous, like the Spider-Man jump and GIF looking explosions. The explosion sounds and that it was done for each item did make me laugh, but then it didn't seem like it was as funny as it could be either.
I'm always interested in pushing for the content on this channel to be as funny and humorous as possible, beyond every other aspect, but the video appearing less high quality than prior videos didn't seem to be all that funny overall and newcomers might not even know or realize and might just think this is amateur hour over here, which is something you should actually work on doing, making an effort to occasionally make and test videos that look like they were made by someone who totally doesn't know what they are doing because that can look very funny
and many 20 something year old CZcamsrs seem to actually use a technique like that, it is a trend in the modern zeitgeist or spirit of things in this age to create crappy looking things that are funny that way and awkward, its been a joke or a style for a decade now or more, increasingly, one example you can look into is a music videos by Jack Stauber, and he might ultimately be inspired by The Talking Heads. There is also a Horrible Music Videos playlist by FUZZYKOOSH - Heather Edmond you could breeze through for ideas on how to make old fashioned CZcams style junk that can be funny, but is often also irritating.
I didn't notice any unusual looking reflection on you, but maybe when you're just singled out in the video then it becomes easier for people to notice as compared to when your whole video has the same lighting color. You may want to consider some special lighting equipment and reflectors but it may also make the videos look weirder too, at least initially, but the question is what visual direction is being attempted, to make things look slicker or to make things look more down to Earth?
For your Toy Competitors, I'd recommend you study some of the new guys I've mentioned, such as Nostalgia Unboxed and 5POA for rapidly growing channels who seem to have their affairs in order and seem quite organized, and they are both different, one is more casual in the way they speak to the audience, one is more formal and is sticking to a very specific style in their execution of each video for a high level of consistency.
I think a very strong move away from toy content as the primary content on the channel will be useful, and a heavy emphasis on general comedy and entertainment, which can continue bringing up and especially poking fun at toys or being very excited about them, but offering lots of different and new types of videos that cover topics that are not about toys. There are people like penguinz0 and the very disturbing example of Asmongold as models for some of the most effortless videos that seem to just talk about anything, where Asmongold takes the entire content of some other persons video and talks to it or comments upon it, but a lot of the video is just him sitting there barely reacting while he uses the content someone else created to play during most of his video (but somehow he has a loyal fan base which supports him in doing this repeatedly).
So what that tells everyone is that some people prop themselves up as opinionated people who want to talk about issues or review things, and people check them out just to see what they have to say about something. There is very little formality or repetitive pre-dialogue in these sorts of videos, they just get right to the topic and start discussing it or showing what they want, and the videos also end rather abruptly as well, though in your case you should have reminders for the Patreon and maybe even just a permanent link at the bottom of the video, though I'm not sure what that would do or if people would get angry. People have complained about videos that use any permanent image with bright colors causing screen burn in haha, so that would be funny if your Patreon ended up burned permanently into people's screens.
Brutally honest feedback is the only tour that matters!

15. Hawkeye looks just perfect, wouldn't need a sky cycle but it makes him so much better, soft goods, articulation etc, only downside is that it is not so easy to pose him in the shooting position with this bow through this string. They shoud have give a second bow or another string to replace it.
14. iron man model 1 is I feel like perfect again I wouldn't change a thing. Cool paint showing details how old or rusty it is. Even though the colors are not expressive, it still stands out among the rest. And it's also really nice to hold him in your hands. he gives a nice feeling.
13. space venom. Even though it's mostly a rerelase, but I didn't have a chance to collect the baf. And now I will always choose deluxe first instead of baf .The new head and those blades add a lot more to this figure. He looks badass and considering his age this guy is still holding up and I really had a good time with this figure.
12. Ultimate captain America. As sentry said. This is my... maybe not my favorite shade of blue for cap, or at least a classic one. But for the alternate reality version. Well, this is my second favorite I could imagine. And actually, I haven't paid attention to the accuracy of reproduction for a long time. Only if it suits my preferences. And this version It's really solid in terms of showing a modern version that's more tactical than the typical super hero costume. The angry head also adds a lot of dynamics to it. And the shield has no holes, I'm really satisfied. And even though the captain has never been my favorite hero, this figure really deserves a place in my top.
11. Joe Fixit. Damn, how much I was waiting for the solid version. Miles away better than the baf. One of the best faces that Hasbro has made, a lot of expression, I can't imagine anything better, they could only add a gunshot effect and smoke from the iron monger. IT FITS VERY MUCH.
10. And now the situation is even more complicated. Because I couldn't decide which figure I liked more. Astonishing cyclops and the 97 gambit.
I didn't have either of them in my collection before. So even though the gambit is mostly a reuse, this is my first exposure to it cause he was never one of my favorite X-men but I had a lot of fun with him. Maybe the only thing missing is a replaceable hand that could hold the stick more solidly. The colors of suit seems to me be best of all the ones made by Hasbro. Unfortunately, the coat doesn't give you that much range to express the poses. No double jointed elbows. The new head really captures the design and character. So not perfect but dang... I didn't expect.
And astonishing cyclops, my second favorite costume next to jim lee. And this figure looks great and noble. But when it comes to dynamics, there is not much to replace and add more emotions to. If it had at least the effect of a visor being fired, it would add a lot more, but unfortunately it doesn't add much. But the design is still better than the gambit. And that's why I have a problem.
9. Blade. Unfortunately, I still don't have this figure in my hands. but damn, I have no doubt that it will be in my top. Lots of accessories, badass design, angry face, nothing more, nothing less to add.
8. Gamervese Peter Parker Spider-man Now this opinion is probably unpopular but don't care . IMO , it reflects the design better and is generally better than the previous one due to the head and articulation of the RyV. The colors don't seem to reflect what he had in second game. But I don't really care about it, even for me it's better because it stands out much more compared to the rest. Not too many sculpted elements but it still passes for me. However, I can't stand the fact that there are no full sets of thwips and crawlers. But I still had a lot of fun with him.
7. VHS Green goblin. Another unpopular one. Outdated body mold but how well does the head reflect what was in TAS. The colors are striking and since I really liked him in the cartoon, I decided to buy the figure. Maybe the bodymold isn't special, but at least it's more accurate than the previous hobtrash goblin. The head is simply phenomenal, the bomb is better painted this time, the glider. A new head that could be both Norman and Harry. It's a pity that there is no stand . And no fists, really? They gave them to MJ who wouldn't need them at all. Terribly frustrating. But I'm glad that I could finally add a solid goblin to my display that is at least a little close to the comic book one and therefore represents it for now. However, it deserves a better edition, namely the new deluxe from no way home. (Hobgoblin the same) And in my opinion, this goblin is the best comic book that Hasbro could make, none of the previous ones were good to me.
6. Deadpool. Finally the perfect definitive classic Deadpool I could have dreamed of. The only drawback is that it doesn't have a normal head with the spout at the back of the mask. And the accessories are mostly great. However, he would need more realistic weapons like the punisher had, black widow, cable, jigsaw etc... But hands, lightsabers, TMNT weapons. Really cool.
5. Extremis iron man. Finally a perfect figure that represents my favorite iron man armor from childhood. Although, more precisely, it is a Model 25, Pentagon like the on from toybiz. Overall, I think it's Somehow underrated. Nice paint job, completely new sculpt, good representation of the armor that made Tony Stark look more menacing and badass.
4. Blob Another great deluxe. I love these types of characters, funny and disgusting and weird and all. Damn, that articulation. Perfect design. Heads representing other eras. Well, I can't describe how great he is.
3. 97 Wolverine. Objectively, the best Wolverine in this scale from Marvel Legends. Although for me the VHS is better and more definitive due to the lighter blue, angry expression that is essential for wolverine. And this shading really makes it stand out. The only downside was that he had no fists and no head without a mask. And I wasn't supposed to buy this Wolverine, but I did because you can never have too many Logans and it makes me incredibly happy. Pinless, a different shade of blue, and a PHENOMENAL head without a mask. It makes it incredibly different from the other one.
2. VHS Doc Ock. man, this is a figure I didn't think I needed. Tentacles that bring a lot of fun. And the design is so iconic and outstanding that it is impossible to describe. Great reproduction. I had so much fun with this figure.
1. And the last one. Black Widow. Perfect figure. All the accessories I need, I really wouldn't buy another one, 3 interchangeable heads, each with different emotions, it's something great, but the classic long hair one with the mad face. My Perfect black widow. My favorite female figure in the collection and IMO best female marvel legend of all time, great articulation.
but now. Another distinction that is miles further and much higher than every figure in this top, namely 6 figures from NO WAY HOME.
6. Sandman. An underrated figure, all the hands he needed, a new body mold dedicated only to him, Thomas Haden Church reproduced very well. and big open hands that can be exchanged with the retro one.
5. Doc Ock. Another figure I don't have. But holy crap. The tentacles are so long that you can actually recreate the fight scenes from the famous train fight sequence. Alfred Molina at his best. The fact that it can easily stand on 2 tentacles and interchangeable claws that also move. WONDER.
4. Andrew Garfield spider-man from 3 pack. Generally, I think that the figures from this box set were better for me because I prefer to always choose all pairs of hands instead of the head without the mask, which I would not use. But this spider-man is well AMAZING XD.
Sculpture, articulation, texture, costume reproduction, the best I've seen in any other figure (FIGHT ME) 1/1 proportions, I only think that the red should be brighter, but it's not bad. But the head in the mask is...... well, I was enchanted.
3. Final Swing Spider-man, damn, that's a great figure. Pop colors that are a bit of a combination of Garfield and Maguire. And it gives a costume as close to the comic book one as possible. All the pairs of hands, the best articulation ever for spiderman, and Holland's head, the sculpted and painted webs that every PETER had. Lots of fun.
2. Green goblin. This is pretty much everything I wanted for this figure to be. PHENOMENAL head of Willem Dafoe, a million times better than SH.F. Here you can see the Goblin with this facial expression. Option to have him with: Just the hood, Just the goggles, hood and goggles, and nothing at all. And the best classic goblin MASK which is phenomenal again. Even better than the one from Hot Toys in my opinion. Articulation, Great sculpt detail, I am just stunned, I LOVE THIS FIGURE. Green, my favorite color, large and wonderfully reproduced glider, stand. And if a person really tries, he can be placed in SIC poses. Only downside is no full set of fists and opened hands which is a shame but..... it's covered by overall look.
1. And my absolute NUMBER 1. There could be no other way. THERE WAS NO WAY. My boy only true spider-man: Tobey Maguire Raimi Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. I was simply moved. So far, when I look at this figure, I am happy. I've been waiting for this spider-man for so long, in my opinion it's perfect. Again, the best-replicated costume for me. All the hands he needs, eyes that, in my opinion, show him perfectly. This is my favorite without any discussion. NOSTALGIA won everything. And as soon as I posed it and looked at it, scenes from Raimi's films and the iconic soundtrack immediately came to my mind. I ADORE this figure.
My top figures of the year, tied for first place, are Neca D&D Warduke and Hasbro Pulse D&D Xanathar. The nostalgia is strong with these! Plus, the modern engineering and paint apps are just improvements of course. Thank you and happy new year, Dave and everyone!

But I do want to see a top 10 Marvel Legends. Won't be easy either... I mean there were a few that were actually good but most were more like 'good enough' rather than top-10-worthy... 🙄

Great list! I was surprised that Loose Collector's Mr Hyde didn't make it. Was that a 2022 figure? I certainly think it's a better looking figuure than Marvel Legends Blob, for instance.
I hate Revoltech but these glowing reviews are starting to sway me, so much so that I don’t know if I can call myself a Moon Knight fan without grabbing this guy. Who would’ve thought, an Amazing Yamaguchi Moon Knight at number 2?!
I was exactly the same as you, but in the last year or so there has been major improvement. The first Revoltech fig I bought was Vader, which drove me insane. Even the more recent Iron Spider is frustrating due to the spider legs being heavy and joints loosening over time. But the Arkham Knight, Spider-Man 2.0, and Moon Knight are proof that they've made massive improvements. Still, one thing I dislike about Moon Knight is the holes are too small for the accessories to be added that can lead to breaks. But just look at how beautiful it looks.

I'd love to pick up a Revoltech Moon Knight, but it's sold out pretty much everywhere, now only at aftermarket resellers at a significant markup, and now I'm kicking myself for not pre-ordering.

Thank you for attempting something new and starting these experiments for the new year, and you'll leep adjusting and changing and improving rapidly, the comments, even the ones that disapprove, should help. Now lets see what the heck they are talking about.
it would be awesome if you could dial down the use of flashy light effects in your next videos or at least give a warning before the video starts. its very triggering for people with light sensitivity / prone to seizures.

Part 2 2024 Goal Suggestions
The goals for this year, which you'll be working on diligently through various efforts but which isn't fully in your control in a guaranteed fashion, should be:
1. Patreon & CZcams Membership Growth (More Members and Monthly Income)
2. Livestream Growth & Revenue or Income from Livestreams
3. Channel Subscribers Growth & Viewer Ratio Growth, so that these are not just derelict and empty subscribers but people are subscribed to the channel who actually repeatedly return and view the videos, your current number is probably a largely false one, but having a big subscriber number even if they aren't people actually viewing the videos can at the very least serve the purpose of making you seem more important to newcomers who notice a big number and also amateurish advertisers if they don't pay attention to views per video which is much more important to informed people, including professional advertisers and scouts for that.
4. Major Growth In Views Per Video, for greater CZcams Revenue from Ads.
5. Improved Content and Title types that get better and higher paying ads per views.
6. Streamlined Production Processes and video types that are easy for you and quick to put together with very little editing or effort involved so you can produce a lot of content quickly and collect a lot of views overall even if each video gets a few thousand, a combined amount will help the overall channel views count as far as I'm aware.
7. Getting Your CZcams and Online Media efforts getting you enough of an income that it matches your job, then exceeds your job, then makes it so you needn't have to do any other job, and then can also reach a point where you can decide where you would like to operate from and can purchase a property and help whoever you may like to help also, such as your family members.
8. Taking advantage of the money coming in to create better and more diverse content, branching into various areas that you have knowledge and experience with and can utilize for videos, such as being in Japan and working in Japan, acting and performing, fitness and nutrition, real life issues, landscaping, travel and architecture of places people don't get to see, trying foods and also products people don't get to see usually, but throughout all these being especially humorous and open with your thoughts and opinions and sharing your feelings so that the people return if they enjoy your personality on display and having a laugh and a good time.
9. Improved and vastly differentiated thumbnails and titles so that people can easily tell videos apart from each other, and the thumbnails need to get people to click, and usually the best way to do that is that people expect the content to be humorous in some way, and the best way to get them to keep clicking it again is to have actually provided a lot of humor and topics that are funny and interesting, joked about, whether speaking of things enthusiastically or mocking them in some way that is funny or funny in how true the observation is.
10. Major improvements in your "Merch" designs, as so many people have better designs for their Merch as well as lots more options. I saw one of the biggest food channels called Rosanna Pansino (Nerdy Nummies) had better looking merch that they probably end up selling well, and you may even wish to hire someone to design better logos, quotes, and art for your merch. Philip Defranco's Merch has messages on them that I don't really like but he offers a whole lot of variety and supposedly higher quality products that he regularly sells out of, and Elvis The Alien has art on his Merch that people end up finding attractive or interesting. Think if you managed to hire an artist to make some kind of cute Kaiju thing and put some quote like "Chef's Kiss" with it and sell that, you can really improve your sales of Merchandise which is a major way that some CZcamsrs make a whole lot of extra income by putting a little time and thought into it (thought some have hired people for that purpose).
It is also necessary and will become increasingly necessary to ignore a lot of comments as the channel grows, because a lot more people with agendas or bad takes or poor advice will start mixing in with other people who are genuine or worthwhile and it can become difficult or tiresome to distinguish between these, and sometimes even close confidants are not always all that useful or providing useful feedback,
and sometimes complaints can represent only a very tiny population or single individual, while others might fail to mention something that a lot of people may be experiencing, so you'll need to be paying attention to what makes sense and what seems true, accurate, and well reasoned when it comes to what people may offer as feedback when they do, and as comments sections grow more populated they can become really unpleasant, and also livestreams that become too populated can be lucrative but also drown out a lot of voices with people just spamming things repeatedly for attention.
So, I enjoyed the video, but didn't like the new look, the effects, the format, the style, haha, but it is just an experiment and a very new one, and I think the greenscreen worked well in cutting you out and showing the background cleanly, but your fleshy hands in gigantic form plus your tiny hands on top of them while you spoke was a bit uncanny and Lovecraftian Body Horror looking at moments, and so who knows what the people having seizures while unable to stop looking might have in their subconscious now after seeing that, plus the flame and light shaking effects that may have induced the seizures in the first place.
I personally also have a fear of seizures (even though I'm not aware of having any condition nor have I ever had a seizure as far as I know, but I'm a hypochondriac and scared of everything), ever since they reported on the news long ago something about kids in Japan having lots of seizures from flashing lights on some show, I've been terrified of strobe lights and everything like that, even though it probably wouldn't do anything much to me as I have no underlying condition.
That being said, I think I speak for all people when I yell into the ether: "DAVE BETTER!" (DO BETTER)
I'm also so concerned that my dark and insensitive humor, which entertains my whole family including my medical doctor mother, and makes light of dark and dire situations including my own, might not be suited for how the English speaking world has turned out in recent years
(which I really hate, because to me, being able to joke about disturbing and stressful things can really help to make people feel better and lighten things up, instead of the heavy pressure people put on trying to silence every effort at levity,
which also helps the medicine go down and utter earnestness and total seriousness actually destroys a lot of well intentioned messages and efforts and receives unnecessary pushback due to the way the messages were presented).
Anyway, here is to a great New Year hopefully for all of us! I hope that you and this channel and those who visit here regularly are able to remain lighthearted and jovial and fully of humor and silliness all throughout the year regardless of any tensions we may be experiencing, from those that are far off, and those that are brought near by interactions, and otherwise those that are personal and professional.
I'd really like to see a lot more videos (even if it somehow sabotages efforts and messes up with channel promotion) on the channel, even per day, lots of different topics covered throughout the day, rants and mini-essays and editorials about whatever pops into your head, anything you experience or see in the day, any films you've seen or even just heard about, a game you noticed, a toy you thought about, a comic story, whatever, blurted out all throughout the day in funny ways,
so at any moment we can check out the channel and say:
"oh wow, there is another short video (15 minutes or less) out by David" that can entertain us, and another and another, wow, he put out 10 15 minute videos in one day, is he alright? I think he is going manic, now he just uploaded another one, it is premiering, what? He is doing a livestream at the same time, he is late to the livestream, oh there he is, it is really choppy, what happened to his hand? Look at his hand, ugh what the heck, his eyes look bloodshot, he looks so tired, look at this, it is like his left eye (right side of the screen) is melting like some kind of Dali painting, oh it was just a digital glitch, ok but what is that white foam building up in the corner of his mouth, is that real?
