- Bedi Mahal or Babay Da Mehal is a palace situated in Kallar Syedan some 40KM away from Islamabad in Rawalpindi District, Punjab, Pakistan.The palace was built by a Sikh spiritual and political leader who was the direct descendant, in the fourteenth place, of Sri Guru Nanak, Baba Khem Singh Bedi in the later half of the 19th century. After the division of India and Pakistan, it was turned into a high school; now it is in ruins.
Khem Singh Bedi was born in Kallar Syedan in the Rawalpindi District in 1832. He claimed to be the thirteenth direct descendant of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism. His father Baba Attar Singh was killed in a family feud on 25 November 1839 and Bedi and his elder brother Sampuran Singh inherited jagirs in the Doaba region along with 41 villages in Depalpur Tehsil. Bedi held his jagirs in 4 villages of Dipalpur tahsil, while his elder brother was given jagirs in 22 villages of the same tahsil. Following the annexation of the Punjab by the East India Company in 1849, 14 of those villages were appropriated by the new administration.

Guys be glad this Haveli is still in relative good condition, in India hardly any muslim Havelis have survived. In Pakistan we do take care of our past, too many people critisise Pakistan for not doing enough, show me videos from India, sepcial requeat to us Pakistanis, dont feel pressured or inferior complexity to justify our stance.

I was student here 1958 -64 one of our teacher from 6th to 10th class was Sadiq Bhatti of mohra dhial who sadly passed away I met him after 30 yrs and intruded my self he said ASHFAQ beta how are you asked him Just to Sahib you remember me he said ASHFAQ since last 30 yrs I must have taught thousand of students but some students because of their intellect always remain in your mind and you were on of them

Informative..we were in Kallar Syedan recently to explore its multi religious past..this is an amazing building ..so unfortunate that it has been allowed to fall apart due to callous neglect on part of the relevant authorities…It’s part of our cultural heritage and must be saved
We made a Vlog too …let’s hope one day soon and not before it is too late someone will save this spectacular building from becoming a mound of earth and bricks..

It was open but DC Rawalpindi visited there in last month he said this building is damaged and dangerous for the visitors that's why now concerned authorities closed this building for visitors.

@@FatimaZahra... Shah Allah Deta is historical place in Islamabad that is safe for families. Otherwise a heritage group arrange a historical visit in Peshawar there is really amazing places to see old and historical buildings. That heritage walk is completely safe for ladies and families. I will join that group with my family soon.
