That dude in Hurricane was a pro compared to all of those I've seen on this channel. Bow first then turn the wheel left and give some gas on reverse gear in order to move the aft close to the pier. That is not rocket science. Good work there, mate!

There had to have been a mechanical issue with that Honda Pilot, it had AWD and I've launched 3-seater skis on a double trailer with one at the ramps as well as on a riverbank and had no problems whatsoever.
I sail dinghys, and we have to dock every day(obviously). These have no other power than sail, but somehow we are still better at docking than florida man in his 300 horse motorboat. Like pulling up to the dock isnt that hard, the only thing i can sympathize with is backing down the ramp on a busy day.
It would be hard to find another landing with more incompetent people, than Miami. Seriously... Most of the rest of the country will have a few idiots, but this ramp in Miami is nothing but idiots.
You say you'd want 4wd at that ramp, I believe that Honda Pilot was AWD. I'm watching on my phone, but I think that's what was on the bottom right of the hatch.

after watching a handful of these youtube videos, I've noticed that, unless it's high tide, or you have a 7 ft tall boat, those docks are the worst design I've ever seen! floating docks are the way to go! they move with the tide, and they're always below your feet, and not eye height at low tide, especially if you own a jet ski

If you only got a stern line and your bow starts to swing out just put the boat in forward and turn to the dock. Its as simple as that.
that's how I dock every time - swing the rear in, go to the swim platform, tie the stern, then helm forward, step out and tie the front.

Truth be told I’ve launched my 19 ft Key West with a FWD Odyssey several times so it was most likely severe operator error 😂
Pilots with twin tailpipe outlets are AWD.They also feature a center diff-loc that would've most certainly pulled the lake lice out.
