I met my wife 5 months after discharge. I wasn’t a SEAL but I had just spent 3 years at the Amphibious Base in Coronado working with them and my head was in a bad place. No doubt, God put her in my life and it gave me a reason to pull my head out. We went for a walk and had a talk. She started checking things off on a checklist that I never knew I had. Almost 43 years together, still married after my family gave us 6 months. God knows what He’s doing!

Saw/met my “Dream Girl” at the student union. Got married in college. Still married at 49 years, 4 adult kids and 9 grandchildren and it’s still a blessing.

I made the best mistake of my life meeting my wife at a Dance Club at 20 years old. Almost 24 years later and having two teenagers we are still married! I don't know where the time goes..or how we made it thru some bad times... But still going strong with turbulence every now and then!
That’s so awesome! My pop was in the Navy and was invited to a surprise birthday for a shipmates friend. This happened at a dance club in Long Beach. He went, and asked him the birthday girl to dance. They are now 32 years married and I am here!!!!

Funny, I was the one who went back and told my roommates that she was the one, after our first date. She was thinking more along the lines of "I've just got to make it to the third date and his ass is in my bed". 8 years of marriage, and a kid later, I was right (well, so was she). Also Shawn, love the way your wife tells the story. You can see how she lights up, and is reliving all of those feelings and emotions as she's sharing. It's super cool
I was in the exact same head space when I first met my loving wife. After having my heart “broken” a couple times prior, I wasn’t hesitant to start another serious relationship. We were friends for a couple years. Then, as soon as it was clear we both had feeling for another, we both dove in head first. That was around July of 2000 and I can’t imagine my life if she wasn’t in it as my wife. It certainly wasn’t always easy, quite the contrary in fact. The best in life never is. There were even times I wanted to throw in the towel, god forbid. Today, I’ve never been happier and more fulfilled in my life and I owe my joy to her. Don’t give up, “the one” is out there and the hardest part isn’t even finding them; it’s being able to confront your unfortunate qualities, learn from them and then change or lose them in order to be the best person human being you can be. Godspeed.
Ahhhhh, I didn’t watch the Shawn Ryan show to see him , I watched it to see the characters he’d have on. But this, this brings a whole different way of looking at it. Talking like this is an inspiration to others. Communication is key and you guys have that down pretty good. Parenting advice (and I hated this when others told me this years ago) Don't sweat the small stuff, let others help and kids will truly seem like they have grown over night. So enjoy.
Don’t ever stop making these videos. These are great! Shawn had the same story as me. Go to work doing Search and rescue. Be in the field for a few days, come home get drunk as hell and pray someone goes missing so I can go right back to work.
Man I can really relate when you're talking about getting fucked up, no hobbies just work and get annihilated. It makes ya feel disconnected from "normal people". Don't get me wrong I lay block for a living so it's a little different from your background, but I felt that.

Guys this one hits home, very similar situation with me and my wife. Didnt meet her on a gun range but we grew up together in South Florida(Bradenton, Sarasota) and i had just got clean and my wife excepted me for who i was. To this day we are about the share our 9th anniversary together and ive stayed 100% clean and sober. When you find a good one, DONT LET GO. So happy for you guys and the similarities blow my mind. She was thinking more along the lines of "I've just got to make it to the third date and his ass is in my bed". 8 years of marriage, and a kid later, I was right (well, so was she). Also Shawn, love the way your wife tells the story. You can see how she lights up, and is reliving all of those feelings and emotions as she's sharing. It's super cool
I was in the exact same head space when I first met my loving wife. After having my heart “broken” a couple times prior, I wasn’t hesitant to start another serious relationship. We were friends for a couple years. Then, as soon as it was clear we both had feeling for another, we both dove in head first. That was around July of 2000 and I can’t imagine my life if she wasn’t in it as my wife. It certainly wasn’t always easy, quite the contrary in fact. The best in life never is. There were even times I wanted to throw in the towel, god forbid. Today, I’ve never been happier and more fulfilled in my life and I owe my joy to her. Don’t give up, “the one” is out there and the hardest part isn’t even finding them; it’s being able to confront your unfortunate qualities, learn from them and then change or lose them in order to be the best person human being you can be. Godspeed.
Ahhhhh, I didn’t watch the Shawn Ryan show to see him , I watched it to see the characters he’d have on.
But this, this brings a whole different way of looking at it.
He’s real , she’s has a heart that doesn’t seem to wavy, she’s in love and I’ll be he loves her more.
I’ll be watching him from now on on his show.

Talking like this is an inspiration to others. Communication is key and you guys have that down pretty good. Parenting advice (and I hated this when others told me this years ago) Don't sweat the small stuff, let others help and kids will truly seem like they have grown over night. So enjoy.

Don’t ever stop making these videos. These are great! Shawn had the same story as me. Go to work doing Search and rescue. Be in the field for a few days, come home get drunk as hell and pray someone goes missing so I can go right back to work.
Man I can really relate when you're talking about getting fucked up, no hobbies just work and get annihilated. It makes ya feel disconnected from "normal people". Don't get me wrong I lay block for a living so it's a little different from your background, but I felt that.

Awesome brother... it is not only ironic, it's very telling. Alot of us were in the same place... and that in the same way, we all had that encounter through the association of good friends. That reckoning that we all go through, thank God, when you know that this wonderful person is everything that you had always hoped that you would meet, but were not actively seeking... is just that... " YOUR RECKONING "! That wonderfully, becomes the key to a " full tilt " guy, having every single facet of his life working out... and for some of us, actually saving our lives.

Guys this one hits home, very similar situation with me and my wife. Didnt meet her on a gun range but we grew up together in South Florida(Bradenton, Sarasota) and i had just got clean and my wife excepted me for who i was. To this day we are about the share our 9th anniversary together and ive stayed 100% clean and sober. When you find a good one, DONT LET GO. So happy for you guys and the similarities blow my mind. Keep it up guys👍

Have been praying over a cross vader (alc and weed) for 4 years. Have never prayed for him to love me, only for his salvation. God is changing his heart slowly, toward the truth of the world.
