Sagrada Familia

La Sagrada Familia, one of the most significant works by Antoni Gaudí. He devoted more than 40 years to this magnificent and inspirational Basilica. Gaudí took over the Sagrada Familia project when he was just 31 years old and he spent the last 12 years of his life completely devoted to his great vocation, serving God through architecture.
When I had the opportunity to visit the Sagrada Familia in March, I spent hours looking at so many details that has gone into the work so far. I was expecting to appreciate the hours of diligent planning and hours of work gone into the construction this inspirational building. However, I was not prepared for the impact that it had on me personally.
I am asked many times since my visit, is it really as impressive as people say?
I can certainly say that I have only captured some of the aspects that are to be taken in. To really understand the dedication and foresight of Gaudi and appreciate something of his great inspiration would leave me only to say a resounding YES to that question!
With work still underway, I plan to go back again to see how Gaudi´s vision is finally brought to fruition.

Symbols are a powerful influence on our psychological and spiritual life. Within our inner world, a symbol can present potential or a calling meant only for one’s personal understanding. The Sagrada Familia demonstrates this so well. Awesome & moving indeed.
