You can really feel mark’s happiness and joy on the track. It’s very jarring, I need to see him back in a ford explorer.

I like watching car reviews, but THIS is what I really want to see; the interviews with engineers and designers, the CAD drawings, the manufacturing footage, the nitty gritty technical details....I love that stuff, and this channel deliveries it in a way that few other channels even come close to. These guys put in A LOT of work into every single video. I’ve followed them for years and don’t understand why they’re not over the 1m subs yet. Notice how they they don’t put out tons of reviews but each review is a methodical masterpiece with focus on the technical stuff.

I disagree. He's a part of the culprits who gives the nob to the oversized corporate front end beak to the entire line up for like 10+ years and no moon roof and rear seat center arm rest to this supposed to be the luxury Type R.
The way I see it is they don't wanna invest any more money on the exterior and slacking it til the electrification comes along. I hope the Acura brand could survive cuz I don't see many of them around.

That tidbit about the Focus RS being an inspiration for the Type S's development is something I never saw anywhere else. Really valuable insight there that they were able to draw out of the Acura product planner.
I will always be impressed by these reviews. That you got Acura development involved is what elevates this channel far above ALL other car review channels. Period.

As an RS owner, I can’t help being proud that this car is still influential even though it has been out of production for over 5 years. Can’t wait to hear the Type S in person.
Unfortunately price killed the RS. That's why you never see them on the road, even in Michigan where they're from. Every other car is a Mustang. They on the other hand sold like hotcakes
@@paulvicks1336I believe the RS was designed and built in Germany by the European Ford team. The car likely didn’t sell well because of its engine problems and lack of comfort compared to the competition.
@@jbrandon302 It is less stiff than the new CTR. Unfortunately you are right about the gasket issue being overblown, leading to some potential buyers to look elsewhere.
@paulvicks1336 price didn't kill the RS. They were never offered with incentives from Ford. All of them sold, many with dealer markup, and very few with dealer discounts. Those that were discounted by dealers were mostly from dealerships that had sat on them with crazy markups for a long time while later model years became available or other dealerships charged less markup. None of this would have been the case if Ford had priced the RS poorly.
The RS isn't from Michigan. It was designed primarily in Europe, and assembled in Germany. It was imported from Germany, and has a German VIN.
The RS, like those before it, was a planned 3 year production run from the beginning. Perhaps the limited production for the final model year was a result of the use of the improper head gasket in prior year's production, though.
I wish these videos would get more views.... The amount of effort that goes into these videos is not going unnoticed. The objective and unbiased perceptions of each car you do is unmatched. You guys hit every single aspect of the car. Nobody goes into the amount of detail in an entertaining way morw than you guys. From enthusiasts to potential car buyers you guys create some awesome content!

1997 Acura Integra Type R was $25k MSRP... $47k in 2023 dollars. So really not too far off of what they're asking now... also sobering look at inflation.

So why is a base Integra just $32,000? All they've done here is a facelift and a better engine... for a mere $19,000

This engine does not warrant a 20 grand mark up. Its cheap, its been made for two decades, its just freaking K series and any 5 year old with their moms credit card can put one together like lego. The profit margins on this thing must be 25% or more.

As someone who swore off Hondas because of the toxic community and dealership experience, your review has caused me to reconsider this. If you’re a parent who wants something that is more practical than a coupe and costs less than $70k, this seems like a solid choice. Mark ups aren’t palatable to me, but when you don’t have a lot of choices that are new, shopping for a dealer that will be more fair is critical.
I don't know why anyone would pay a dealer markup. I paid 2500 under msrp for my tlx type s when everyone was talking about markups on theirs. Interest rates are already horrible for excellent credit.
@@Mike-lt6sj No body wants that car (TLX Type S) compared to this car. Everyone wants this car. They're sold before they even reach the dealerships. The handling and inputs are just much better in the Integra. I guess if you must have an automatic then a TLX is a good option.
@@spaceenthusiast5242 That's a tad too small for me. I had an accord coupe and the Integra is smaller than that. FWD works in snow, but AWD is king. I would love a manual transmission, though.
most detailed deep dive car reviews period, no one comes close with how technical, nerdy and objective as savagegeese. super happy to see the manufactures involved with helping produce quality deep dives into the development behind certain cars. always a pleasure to watch and enjoy. kudos to honda/acura, GM and porsche for recognizing how important these videos can be to the enthusiast.
I have VERY fond memories of my base/low trim level Civics. The memorable thing about 90s Hondas for me is they all were decently fun to throw around

Maybe they were tuned differently in the UK, but I had a 96 civic. The soft suspension and utterly remote steering were total turn offs. Engines and gearbox tho.... wow!
Drive a 2016-2020 Civic Sport or LX sedan or coupe with the 2 liter NA engine and manual transmission.
Because they weighed nothing. This will not be the same in modern day civic or integra.
If we only get half as many videos, but they're all like this, I'm all for it.

First car I bought new was an Integra RS in 1987. It was a 1986 model, but with Acura being a new brand name people didn't realize what it was which was essentially an upgraded civic with a different body.
Only 99 hpp, but I drove it like I stole it for years. Over 275k miles wheen I sold it.
Similar to the CR-X Si! I loved that car but college got in the way. 🥴
I love my 00 Integra. I'll be it's last owner.

Also, You guys really are doing a historic service. These in depth videos such as the LFA, GT-R, Corvette Z06, Mustang videos, Integra, the Miata series, and the upcoming NSX videos are really going to be look at down the road by future generations. Personally I wish there was a "youtube" back in the 80's and 90's to show in depth the cars I grew up with. My local dealer has 5 of them, and as of this morning only one was accounted for. They told me that they were “forced” to have them equipped with all the accessories, and are going to be locked in at 10k over MSRP.
Honda being honda. Waiting till their cars are worthless to buy them for half off when poeple just stop buying into their BS pricing.
The interest rates are brutalizing dealers right now, they're trying to hide the fact that inventory is normalizing by hiding cars like the snakes they are. They won't be able to sustain their little markup games much longer.
So roughly $65k. Crazy.
They can fuck off with this pile...
I live in nw Florida. Called about a white one: 80k. Before I hung up, they said “we won’t lose a customer over price.” I couldn’t help but laugh.
Excellent work as always, this content is very obviously a cut above most content you can find on youtube. I appreciate your particular POV and dedication to providing something much more engaging than the run of the mill. And the car of course, did not expect it to be anything more than a CTR with an acura badge...clearly I was very wrong lol.
When they started talking about the exhaust, and he started building up to the car they wanted to strive towards with “emotional sound”, I was whispering “say the RS, say the RS” and I fist pumped when he said it. The RS really nailed the pops and bangs to sound like a chaotic hot hatch without being a bmw with a burble tune.
I love the deep dives with manufacturer engineering personnel, behind the scenes stuff, etc. Well done.

Many seemed to hate on the haters saying 2 doors just don't sell any more..
But it wasn't just the 2 door, fastback hatch that made that specific gen beloved. It also had a bespoke 1.8L engine, when the then top Civic SI only had 1.6L

Philosophy behind cars is so cool. Oems have interesting ways they integrate focus ideas to mass production cars. Like how to integrate racing to a car yet still comfortably let someone with kids do grocery runs regularly.
$55,000 is a pretty steep entry price. With dealers already adding $15k to $20k markup on these...it becomes totally irrelevant. No one with any sense is going to pay $70,000 for this Integra.
Sports cars are soon to start at $100k in this stagflation. Buy your dream car while you can
No sane person is going to buy it even for MSRP (+taxes, docs, etc), this is ridiculously niche and out of touch product...

$55k is a bit steep for this car in my opinion as well (under $50k loaded would be fair). But I think there will be those that will pay that for this car given the heritage and they want a car more refined than the CTR. But to have dealers tack on $15k to $20k further crowds out the buyer pool who would pay $55k. Then the manufacturers stop making them because sales were dismal. The dealers are literally bottlenecking the manufacturers' new car sales. They already make plenty of money already with the invoice-MSRP and financing spreads.

It looks fantastic, however your audio system graphs were very dim. Probably just need to adjust tone mapping for HDR. Thanks!

My first Gen Integra still pulls at my heart, glad they kept the blue, nice. But though that price tag is disheartening, that one, much like mine seems to do everything right.
I think I'm not dissapointed anymore about this car thanks to this video, and it's not the first time I feel like this after a SG video...absolutely fantastic content. Interacting with the manufacturers is a HUGE plus!

Massively well done job to Mark and Jack. And to get this out there timely must have been very long hours in the edit room for this much footage. I was in the market for this car and when I inquired a few months ago about the waiting list, they said they also put a minimum $10k dealer markup on all Acura's there and expected it to be even higher for a limited run Type S. I was really bummed because even though I could afford that, I won't in principle. Ended up buying the WRX for under $40k and couldn't be happier. I gave up some quality in material choices for a similar quality of fun. I wish Acura all the luck in the world selling to the Acura/Honda enthusiasts who want a FWD MT slightly softer Type R experience with four doors for $60k+. There must be dozens of them.

Amazing video as always guys. I own a DC5 Type R in the UK and love it. The FL5 Type R is impossible to get hold of here with so few being allocated to the UK (around 400 total) and a £15k price increase over the FK8 makes it very hard to justify. I hated how this looked when announced but after seeing this I really really like it. Wish we could get this in the UK now!

@@jesustsa1 I don't think they can new but as soon as it's sold back they can charge what they want. They are being sold for more than list price by up to £10k but we don't seem to have anywhere close to the crazy mark ups I always read about in the US across all your cars. Some of the mark ups that I read about people paying are crazy
