      I didn't forget either. I was a teenager in the 1990s, so 90s alternative rock is my favorite era and genre of music. I asked Alexa to play Alice in Chains this morning.

    L7's "Pretend We're Dead" and Republica's "Ready to Go" could absolutely have been on this list. Arguably, they're more undeservedly forgotten than some of the songs included here.

    As someone who was in high school mid-late 90’s this list is so relatable. ‘Sex and Candy,’ ‘Inside Out,’ ‘Balloon’ and ‘Univited’ are definitely memorable.

      Class of 97 here. Green Day's Dookie was my freshman year, Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness was my junior year, and Foo Fighters Color and the Shape was my senior year. I very closely tie each album to that respective year of high school.

    The 90s gave us so many amazing bands and timeless songs. Let's not forget "The Kids Aren't Alright" by The Offspring. Talk about a song we can all relate to. I dare say most of us knew every single person mentioned in that song in our lives.

    Garbage was truly Iconic and unforgettable.Veruca Salt really rocked. David Bowie’s I’m afraid of Americans with Trent Reznor was a ‘comeback’ plus it’s facetious. RIP - I still miss him❤️ Sex and Candy awesome 1 hit wonder. Great list

      I own a Gibson es335 that used to belong to Trent reznor. I have the provenance to prove it. I live in Memphis and it was made here at the Gibson plant for him. He used it in his live shows. They made 100 for him. He smashed all but 35 of them on stage. He gave the 35 Back to Gibson. They presented them to employees as bonuses with their names on the trussrod plate. I got it from an employee. I paid $3000 for it.

    Faith No More’s Angel Dust album (to include ‘Midlife Crisis’) is criminally underrated.
    Some of these other songs from Incubus, Everlasting, Lit, Filter etc are fortunately still played regularly on our local rock and alternative radio stations. Definitely not forgotten.

      I seriously can't understand how Alanis became famous. Her voice is grating. Even when I was younger and my music taste was completely unrefined, I asked how someone who just screams got a record deal. She's so bad I turn her off my radio even if it's on mute.

    In 1996, I saw Garbage, Sponge and Stabbing Westward play together. That was a phenomenal show! I wish I could remember who the opening act was.
    The 90’s were SUCH a great era to grow up in! 🙏🏻❤️🙌🏻

      Some yes, many no. 80s were fun, celebratory and bright. 1/2 of these are angry which is what I now dont like about 90s music. 2010 decade social media took angrrrrrrrrrr to such a level that makes a lot of what I liked back then unlistenable.

    90s were a great decade for music!!! I was a kid in the late 70s, graduating high school in '88, so this list is one that I actually have heard most of the songs!! Goo goo dolls is a GREAT band!!! Spotify even let me know when their new album came out, and I found a couple of songs to add to my Playlist. Back in the day....I used to sing their song Name. It was an inside joke with a friend of mine who I would hang out with and go to a bar to sing karaoke.

      Name, Big Machine, Black Balloon, Slide and of course Iris. They have a number of very good tracks. Iris is overplayed but for good reason, there's so much going on in the background in that song.

    Also, Deftones - Change is an awesome song. Others are, Lucius Jackson - Naked Eye, Everything But the Girl - Missing, Letters to Cleo - Here and Now, Hole - Violet, 3 Doors Down - Loser, B52s - Roam, White Zombie - Thunderkiss, U2 - Ultraviolet, The Breeders - Cannonball, L7 - Pretend We’re Dead, and Local H - Bound for the Floor. And for some hip hop - Londonbeat - Been Thinking About You. For EDM… Children, Rapture, Insomnia, to name a few

      I loved "drive" by incubus. I end up hating incubus once the 2000's came around because they became to political. They have hatred for anyone that doesn't think like a liberal. Same with green day.

    Garbage is absolutely wonderful! I've been a fan of them ever since their first album came out! And even knew about Shirley Manson before garbage when she was in Angelfish! 🤘🤘 They're one of the best bands that's ever existed and they're still around today making new music! 🤘I haven't forgotten any song by them! I wish I could meet Shirley Manson in person before I die. I know that's not going to happen but dear Lord that would be a dream come true 🤗🤗🤘🤘😁💓💓💓💓💓🤘🤘🤘

    Once again, spoken to a casual rock fan point of view, most of these songs to the true rock fans are always awesome. They never stop being awesome. I get that some of these songs because of the tones or rhythm or style they take are an acquired taste, but they never stopped being awesome

      Bowie and Trent were good friends. They toured together, worked on a bunch of projects together and Trent even credits Bowie for him getting clean and sober. They just showed Trent in the video but didn't mention him. Ridiculous!

    I was introduced to the Cranberries by my mom’s classmate (my mom went back to the work force & was 10 yrs older than everyone). She would paint my nails and belt out their lyrics….been a fan ever since, remember this song clear as day, I’m 37 now

    Surprisingly good list! STP's first 2 albums are iconic but they had later albums that went unrecognized and No.4 was brilliant. SPONGE!!! One of my all-time faves. Their discography is all over the place- in the best way. New Pop Sunday should've been a huge success. Such a shame they were overlooked by the media and listeners. Dinosaur Jr. has some of the best guitar work out there but I can understand people not liking the vocals. And look at how many female-fronted bands there were! So much amazing music. I miss the 90's...

    As piracy effectively defunded the entire music industry down to it's bare minimum (live performance) the 90's was the very last time music was a major player in artistic expression. The 90's were the last time a musician can experiment without financial insecurity. That's why ever since pop hybrids of music genres has emerged as the overwhelming available genre of music.

      @@jimgeorge3273 At 70 years old, I saw The Beatles live on Ed Sullivan in February of 1964. Moreover it is generally thought that Sergeant pepper's is the best album ever crafted. Additionally, some of the best Rolling Stones albums, The Who, Crosby Stills Nash and young, Carole King, Rod Stewart, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Elton John, Chicago, Three Dog Night, Jimi Hendrix, plus so many others that I am too lazy to look up, came about in the 60s and 70s. There is no comparison, end of sentence.
