  • @MatthewMorse
    @MatthewMorse Před 4 měsíci +1

I'm with you. I don't see how this one will keep up with demand, both for this camera specifically, and lingering demand for the X100V. For anyone that has an X100V, I don't know that this is a compelling update, unless you're just looking to add a second X100-series camera to your bag, or your X100V is well-used and due for replacement. I was sort of holding out hope that Fuji would surprise us with a titanium build (a la XPro3) and durablack/durasilver coatings as this camera really lends itself to that enhanced build being that it's commonly a 'take everywhere' camera for those that use it.
I think the 40mp sensor is... fine. I used the XT5 for a little bit and I found the 40mp files to have a sort of clinical feel to them that I didn't love. Maybe it was just me being nitpicky, though, and it was a placebo effect of swapping between my XPro3 and the XT5 where I was really used to that sort of organic feeling from the XPro3 images. IBIS is a great addition for those that like to shoot in low light on the streets and want to keep that ISO down. It's never been an issue for me to shoot any of my Fuji cameras at 1600 or 3200 ISO, but I know for some, shooting at very low ISO is a big deal.
I just sort of found this camera release to be a little bit lazy. An evolutionary upgrade to an already excellent camera that I think could have been a more revolutionary upgrade, especially considering the slightly higher price point. I know it's not the same form factor, etc., but at $1600, I'd probably be tempted to just go for the readily-available XT5 and a couple of small primes.

Now that the Nikon ZF (love mine so yes some bias but came from Fuji) is a thing Fuji needs to step their game up. Same screens as four years ago, one UHS1 card slot in 2024? Same poor battery. Now creeping towards the $2k mark. Really feels like a cash grab from Fuji knowing how popular the series has been. I know the ZF is more an XT5 contender but really mean Fuji can’t just ride the vintage aesthetic bus as their main driver. If Nikon really wants to go all out would love a fixed lens ZF meets Q3 camera.

This camera has become rediculously expensive. Fujifilm reseached the price of a used x100v and they though: If an x100v retails on the used market for $1400 we then could charge $1600.
I find it a disgusting move by Fuji. This thought is also underlined by the fact that this camera has recycled components such as the sensor and lens. Forget about the new hinges of the lcd or firmware. Additionally Fujifilm is saving on labour costs by manufacturing the camera in China and no longer in Japan. In my opinion and based on those facts this camera is let down. The X T5 is cheaper to have and Fujifilm cameras are quite compact.

    2) Missing the red tip on the viewfinder selector, call me pedantic, but i just dislike it
    3) Made in China, no hard feelings, but i do prefer made in Japan, always into contrast
    4) I don't need 40 MP, it's technically Overkill, i shoot 35mm SLRs, Rangefinders, also 12/13 MP Fullframe DSLRs, my Sony does have 24 MP, huge files, never need that kind of huge resolution

Yeah, as much as I think this camera is good at that price point I’d go with a Sony A7c or A7cii. I know Fuji film simulations are great but not sure I’d pick this up personally.

The X100VI is made in China so there will be more availability but quality won't be that great compared to the X100V

If they have proper quality control it shouldn't make a difference

@@Geert890But how would you expect proper quality control if they immediately get sent over from China to the market?.... They are not planning to stop by in Japan and as far as I know Fujifilm only gave clear instructions and actually "didn't" send any professionals over to China for a in person inspection.
And in comparison they are not put together by hand like the x100v. Fujifilm tries to sell as many x100vi as possible and that's the whole vibe they give off.

Even my wife, who studied in Japan, was perplexed. Shes not a photographer, but just applied common sense😂

Making them in Japan was one reason they couldn't make enough of the X100v to satisfy demand. I think that's why they moved production to China.

@@catlike1So they chose profit over a good quality product? What a surprising move from a company xD they chose money over reputation? Whaaat?! Lol
They even charge more for a Chinese product than the x100v xD Even though production value should be sliced in half.

Fuji has gone crazy for $$$$$$$$ 2899AUD.? The V was 1789AUD before the hype! No thanks! I’ll stick to my Xpro3!

Wowowow yeah some of the pricing outside of the US is always so confusing. I believe a direct comp would be what, 2500AUD? I think 1789AUD would be far lower than the X100V price in the States too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Agreed entirely - the price increase has pushed the camera into a different layer in Australia. The hype pushed up the x100v price and now profit/greed has seen an absurd price here in Australia. Firm pass for me - I will continue with my x100t.
