Horus himself said
“Sanguinius. It should have been him. He has the vision and strength to carry us to victory, and the wisdom to rule once victory is won. For all his aloof coolness, he alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood. Each of us carries part of our father within us, whether it is his hunger for battle, his psychic talent or his determination to succeed. Sanguinius holds it all. It should have been him…”
He fought until the very bitter end slaying Titans and a greater demon, farking up a demonic Angron and finally facing off against Horus.
The most loyal of his sons who could not be turned by Chaos for he secretly feared he was a warp tainted mutant.
I hope we get a Sanguinious/Horus rematch in the form of Dante shoving an axe head into abaddons skull
Abaddons killed enough old Imperiun War Heros to fill a legion. Unless you want Dante to get did like Sigismund I'd stay away if I was him.
@@maltheri9833plot armor saved abbabitch like 3 times during the siege of terra then after he left the eye sigsismund spanked him again even tho he was past his prime and impaled him thru the chest with his sword how does a space marine shrug that off 😂
@@maltheri9833
Sigismund was turning to dust from old age and had to fight through a bunch of chaos champions to reach him, and he still would have killed warp-juiced bitchbaddon if not for chaos saving his life.
@@maltheri9833 Sigismund killed Abaddon. The old Abaddon. Only the bitter traitor remained
"If you come from the realm men once called hell, tell them when you get there, it was Sanguinious who threw you back ." " only Angel's may fly " rips demon wings *
Your god damn right that glorious hawk boy is the best
"I was just a warrior, Rogal. Just a warrior."
...and with these humble words, The Angel proved he was indeed the greatest.
"It is not the descent toward the shadow nor the rise toward the light that makes us stronger. It is in the endless struggle between the two that greatness of character lies. We are tested, and we do not break."
he is the greatest because during the whole seige he was hurt and broken physically and mentally but at the end he did what he knew must be done and scarified himself to save humanity and his father
As a Blood Angels player, this pleases me
Finally your talking sense… i mean MAGNUS? You’ve been hit by the warp spaghetti until you came to your senses with Sanguinius
Magnus turned into the petty primarch. Mans decided to join Satan just to spite his dad for an unapproved ass wooping that was never ordered in the first place.
Our glorious hawkboy, the angel himself, is indeed the greatest
There is no warhammer without the glorious hawk boi.....fight me.
End here, it's sanguinius, everyone knows it's sanguinius. He's basically Jesus and Kurt Cobain and Musashi
agree, but..... you can't put Kurt Cobain in the same line as Jesus and Musashi!
Yes, even because Sanguinius, our beloved character, doesn't deserve to be someone who took 12 in the face, right? Do you know how Kurt Cobain went from dreadlocks to top?@@alastair4839
Cobain? Doesnt fit lol musashi would laugh at his weakness leading to suicide.
He gave it his all. What more could you ask of a man. It's the same reason we love Dante
Only difference is that Dante keeps getting back up and is goddamn sick of it. I’m almost convinced he is a perpetual at this point and everything he sees each time he comes back is just a fever dream 😂
@@Zong_Cheng Sanguinius died to let Dante live.
dante already saved the Imperium countless times.
From Beast rising, from tyranids invasion, he has the heart to calm the black rage aka mephiston and use it against chaos.
He did more than half of primarchs already.
"The beast tried to break free, swatting at the primarch, grasping at air. Its bat-like wings unfurled, the talons at their tips, scratching gouges in Sanguinius’s armour. With cold and lethal precision, the primarch arrested the wild, beating motion of one of the freakish wings with his free hand. ‘Only angels may fly,’ he said darkly, tearing out the black pinion. The sound was like the splitting of a great sack-cloth sail, and the daemon Ka’Bandha screamed loud enough to shake the walls."
Sanguinius is the representation of the human spirit called to virtue. He is the beast, the monster, the savage, who made the difficult choice to be more.
For every reason he had to give up, every excuse he had for failure, for every trial placed before him, he has a triumph.
It's why even though he was literally a demigod who has often been seen as the most capable--every conversation about Primarch power and accomplishment has to answer to Sanguinius--was also the most humble, and the most beloved; because he chose to strive towards those things greater than him.
For all of his capabilities, he never struggled for a fair fight. He struggled to overcome that which could lay him low by circumstance and skill and direct comparison.
And what is more representative of human virtue than that?
Sanguinius was a ultimate answer for chaos truth.
And Chaos fear him. They killed him through horus. Out of fear.
And anathema decided to sacrifice everything in his name.
The full title of this series is "Why is the Greatest Primarch (Well, After Sanguinius)".
When he pulled out Angron cables out. 😂
Like bruh imagine being a literal champion of supposely the best warpstorm and you die like that.
I knew Sanguinius was the best Primarch way back in 1998 when I started collecting Blood Angels as my first 40k army.
You have reached the greatest primarch, no need to keep drilling, you struck oil.
Russ is my favourite. But I know The Great Angel is the very best primarch … and it’s not close.
Respect. You can favor whichever suits you, Russ is great of course.
The angel is the angel, though.
Glad you got it right. It is not about who is best. It is about your preferences.
BTW Blueberry king says Blueberries combined with one of Dauntles few are unbeatable. Sanguinius and Russ are both leaders Roboute regarded most highly. Along with Rogal Dorn and Ferrus Manus.
I love the Channel! Uriel Ventris episode with Guilliman from 4 years ago got me into 40k. It a had Knight kneeling to his lord kinda vibe lol
Our Glorious Hawk Boi is absolutely the best. Dude stomped greater demons, wrecked titans, kicked demon elevated Angron’s ass and rallied the defense. Without him the walls fall.
Then he takes on juiced up Horus and pieces him up until Horus goes full Chaos mode. He did this despite knowing that if he boarded the Vengeful Spirit he doesn’t return.
His prowess is unquestionable but his heart and strength of character are greater still.
The best.
Wounded and tired from fighting Angron, Ka Bandha, and a reaver titan. Fought through armies to get Horus and beat him easily. Only when the Chaos steroids kicked in and a time hack did Horus turn the tides drastically and win. Sanguinius would wipe the floor with every primarch based on that performance.
Nobody brings me to tears, than Sanguinius for his compassion, his sense of justice, and his humanity. 😭
Also red and gold is a great aesthetic, paint-wise.
100% best primarch. How he greeted and spoke to his legion for the first time was epic and who he is!
Fought titans, slain so many demons, great demons, slain the angelas bane KaBanda, followed RIGHT after his own brother turned Demon Primarch, Sang, held the eternity Gate. Sang disobeyed his father to GO TO HIS KNOWING DEATH because he KNEW it was the right thing to do. Sanguinious, wounded, already dying, STILL went on to fight Horus KNOWing he will DIE. NO PRIMARCH COMES CLOSE, NONE. NOT ONE.
The great angel still stay in my heart, the most beloved son,the greatest and the most noble of all brothers.
He was the best, even the same Horus says that, he was the only with the emperor soul inside him.
Probably the angel could kill Horus if wasnt so tired and injuried from months of siege.
For the blood of Sanguinius.
I dont think sanguinius was meant to be the greatest, but he rose to the occasion and made himself the greatest.
I think he was definitely designed by the emperor to inspire and command loyalty though
@Interrobang212 oh certainly, but i get the vibe that several of the primarchs were either disapointments in how they turned out or unexpectedly impressive. Sanguinius seems to have been the latter
I hope we get more about sanguinius's soul in the warp, angel still lives.
He is the brightest one. He 1v1d both khabanda and angron back to back after days of fighting
Sang would have made the best figurehead of the Imperium. He engendered the love and devotion to get the Imperium through its battles. The decay and corruption that befell the IoM and the excesses of its organs (Inquisition etc). They would have not happened or be greatly slowed down. If Sang is Big S.
It should have been his...”
Sanguinius' end exemplifies "what if?".
What if he had survived the Horus Heresy?
Would he have fallen during the Scouring?
Would he have Fallen during the War of the Beast?
What would the 40K setting look like with the Great Angel in it?
Probably would've died in a great war. He'd be on the frontlines too much and would likely meet his match eventually and probably be dead or disappeared by the current year. It's 10k years no one survives that many battles in the galaxy without hiding in the warp for an unreasonably long time or being an unreasonably resilient dreadnought.
@@maltheri9833 Sanguinius was killed only when ALL chaos gods in that moment decided to unleash own might against him.
You really think anything else would kill him?
He killed a titan, angron and khabanda in some hours.
You really think that petty beast would stop him?
Only C'tan. perhaps. Knowing that Sanguinius is a powerfull psyker second to only magnus( looking on mephiston, maybe even stronger)
Nothing can kill sanguinius except his own will.
By the Baal, i see y'all already shared some of my fav quotes, so I'll share excerpt of Sanguinius meeting the bloody thirsty mindless Revenants for the first time:
"Sanguinius beheld the gathered warriors of the IXth each bearing the scars of unrelenting battle both on their proud faces and in the dark recesses of their spirits. These were not men to be impressed by the pomp and ceremony of his escort, nor by simple strength of arms. The winged Primarch, amid the rain and storms of that far world, took a knee before the rough-cast killers and scarred blood-drinkers and, rather than demand their allegiance, he offered them his own.
...
The warriors who had offered up everything to the new Imperium and in return been granted only scorn and mistrust, were now offered a Primarch's loyalty, given freely and without reservation. Sanguinius had won their devotion with his actions."
PS: *Be bloody, bold and resolute my brothers!*
The man has the best temper management in the Imperium.
Should have started and ended with Sang. We all know our glorious hawk boi is the greatest primarch by a country mile.
If Angron hadn't received The Butcher's Nails, I believe that Sanguinius, Angron and Hours would've been the thee best of buds and brothers during The Great Crusade.
I don't know which primarch would be the best for the imperium. But Sanguinius is probably its greatest hero.
Of course he is. Hawkboy lives.
The heretical questions at the end were outlandish and deserving of a full inquisitorial review of you and your home world
Sanguinius was the greatest single warrior of the Primarchs, he was the greatest morale booster of the Primarchs. He was the most beloved.
However, even he acknowledged that with all his deeds, with all his martial prowess he would not have been able to plan the defense, or hold the enemy back, like Dorn had done. He told Dorn this many times. And, if Dorns personal achievements, killing Alpharius, pimp slapping Fulgrim, resisting and eventually defeating the direct and concentrated will of Khorne for centuries, planning out the defense of Terra and holding the Palace for longer than anyone else could, or was even thought possible. If these deeds were as well known (in universe) as Sanguinius' deeds are, people would be very hard pressed to say Sanguinius is "The Greatest Primarch".
Dorn is great too, and maybe you have a point abouy focuses will of khorne, but im still my support behind Sanguinius.
Sanguinius is absolutely the best primarch. Even the other primarchs agreed. He was worthy to run imperial secundus. He defeated enemy after enemy that was stronger than him in defense of the emperor. Because of his foreknowledge and his freedom of movement there were few who could stand against him. The Blood Angels need their leader back!
11:01 i didnt know what running away from or excepting the future looked like...
A real and visible super hero.
I hope so much they bring him back at some point
Come back to us Sanguinius!! 😂
His brothers saw him as the one loved by all. People saw him as the angel. Men saw him as a warrior. The populace saw him as the son of the emperor. Soldiers saw him as an inspiration. Almost all legions saw him as someone they should become. But above all he was the most deadliest primarch knowing no bounds of his suppressed rage. All of this makes him the greatest of the primarchs.
There's a reason why the Silent King wears a mask of Sanguinius.
He was completely done dirty in The End and the Death... I had so much higher hopes as to how his last battle should have been written.
He is the greatest, no doubt about it ....even the gods of chaos admitted it.
Thank as always for the videos and topics.
But just 11+min for the primarch who ate the chaos gods champions back to back?
Come on dawg 🙃
Normaly, when people talk about sanguinius, they bring to the table his martial prowess, achivemnts of combat or duels, etc.
But a fact that always keep getting overlook is this, Sanguinius kneel and swore fielty to a bloody and smelly Revenant Legion at the moment he meet them.
And all of them knew, they were gonna we unworthy of his primarch loyalty forever.
Only Primarch with a Holiday on the Imperial calendar.
The reason why he is the best is he knows he can fall. He has doubts. He has questions.
But he looks at his sons and the imperium and sees the strive to be better
He sees his father’s designs as practical. Not perfect, nothing ever is.
He knows his father would love nothing more than to be a guiding force rather than a mighty emperor.
Sanguinius loves all of his brothers. Even those who hold no love for him.
And when push comes to shove, he do what must be done, to meet his end if need be.
I think there's a lot to the theory about minor warp gods making them special and he got 2 , kinda makes sense with current blood angel lore and his more abundant gifts compared to others
Sanguinius has the power of Red and black angel.
it is ancient warp entities, before human civil existed.
Emperor must knew about it.
By far the best , everyone knows, even his brothers.
Sanguinius was an absolute beast in the siege of Terra. I don't think it's even arguable that he truly was the strongest Primarch.
Because, obviously. And I'm a White Scars player.
Yes, Sanguinious is and always be the greatest primarch of all. Dude is the only one with the aura that could match the big e in how the imperium percieves him. He can inspire the masses with just his appearance alone. Heck, i would follow the Hawkboi into the jaws of hell if he were to lead the imperiums forces. Just his sheer will to fight to the very end is enough to make him the GOAT.
The fact this video is not longer is disappointing
I do think Saingunius is the greatest. He feels like the best parts of the emperor without any of the negatives. The only two things id say he struggles with is being a great tactician and having battle rage. The rage being more of a offhand positive because he generally used it to protect other's.
Remember he is known as the great Angel, it's in the name lol
Hold what's the big deal of Sanguinius going out to save his brother Jaghatai Khan since he knew because of his ability to the see the future, where he would die and it was not trying to save Jaghtai. So to say "not a second of concern for himself.." big deal, he knew when he would die and that was not the time.
I think he was a really well developed character. Hiding the flaw from father and brothers, being conflicted on a number of fronts, yet still being decisive and loyal.
His conflict even breaks the fourth wall (pun intended): his sacrifice allowed Black Library the foundation to send him out in a blaze of glory which further fueled his popularity. Now he's the only Primarch to transcend true death to still be active in the story (supposedly fighting alongside the emperor in the void).
Black Library now have a dilemma - how to continue the story of the most popular, overpowered primarch, who obviously fuels plenty of sales - without breaking the setting. Can't bring him back without diminishing his sacrifice, can't rely only on backfill stories, and can't let him rest in peace. I bet he's going to introduce or help introduce a whole new front to Warhammer - maybe the theory of primarchs being minor gods is correct. Perhaps we'll get to see a whole new battle.
Truly the greatest primarch in so many ways.
So many comments as to why he is the Greatest. All of them true, just a small add but one I really enjoyed.
When Sanguinius was storming the Vengeful Spirit himself and 1 company fought against 4 companies of Sons and WB. Dorn himself would have retreated, called it non viable, but that never applied to Sanguinius. Dorn never included Sanguinius in his battleplans as the Angels ability to overcome all odds was simply too great.
His death was not a blaze of glory, his death was pointless and tragically avoidable. It did not alter any kind of outcome, why didn't he wait for backup before entering that room? I'll never know. Dan abnett wrote the most grimdark ending possible. I almost cried
It’ll never happen but Sanguinius coming back some how would be amazing. Or some more lore of the great crusade with Sanguinius. I just discovered 40k and the lore is incredible. I see why it’s been so popular for so long. *cue gatekeeping comments*
Dr. Sanguinius here to perform brain surgery
It's still the Angel. He's the greatest one of me faves, bit i think the Great Kahn is the coolest.
Even Horus knew that Sanguinius was the best.

Given his brothers said he was the best of them is all the proof needed
Objectively, Sanguinius is the best primarch. Subjectively, I like Vulkan more. :D
Sanguinious is amazing. Vulkan is his equal in this regard.
Bestest indeed.
My glorious hawk boy is the best
Big E probably
ive been sitting here trying to think of a primarch that was better but i just cant😊
He is the greatest because he is meant to be, show me a novel, story, or even a single line that any GW author has written or can write against the great Angel.

The Emperor (if the Molech event is not created by the Alpha Legion) once entered the Warp valiantly fought the Dark Gods with his faith and devotion, conquering within himself the last pure light that still shone in the dimension now consumed, becoming in fact the true and just God of humanity.
Is it too much from the outset to show him aware that having religious faith in him is vital to defending against Chaos?
I really think not.
How does the Emperor, during the Council of Nikea, convince his sons of the importance of Librarians?
Using as example Lorgar Aurelian himself.
Plus, to help Leman Russ and Mortarion himself understand, alongside his Custodes he has his new Grey Knights (with their Chapter Master Janus)!
Since the Emperor is the God of Humanity, thanks to Lorgar Aurelian all of Colchis is freed and purified from the cult of Chaos (thanks to his colchisian crusaders led by the true and pious Erebus: Truth Bearers).
Lorgar Aurelian is the one who then founds the Ecclesiarchy with his Crusader Order: the Frateris Militaris.
Lorgar Aurelian is like Ascalon Troyes, equal to Rogal Dorn and Sanguinius!
(Illuminarum is not a maul but a mace)
If Rogal Dorn is the Latin Catholic then Lorgar Aurelian is the Greek Orthodox.
And that's why the name of his Legion, the Word Bringers (Word Bearers + Truth Bringers).
(Byzantine Crusader type)
Primarch Ulysses II Legion Iron Snakes Homeworld Ithaka; Primarch Casmero XI Legion Silver Skulls Homeworld Varsavia.
The Emperor uses the Traitors's Gene Seed to recreate the fallen Legions:
The new III Legion are the Red Scorpions (Primarch Devortus Gault, Homeworld Zaebus), the new IV Legion are the Minotaurs (Primarch Thesephae, Homeworld Artherion), the new VIII Legion are the Black Dragons (Primarch Murad Agha, Homeworld Burso), the new XIV Legion are the Mortifactors (Primarch Arpaza, Homeworld Posul), the new XV Legion are the Blood Ravens (Primarch Mikael Corveda, Homeworld Aurelia), the new XVI Legion are the Doom Eagles (Primarch Severin, Homeworld Cailleach), the new XX Legion are the Carcharodons (Primarch Dakuali, Homeworld Temeura).
Yes... He is.
(But, Vulkan is still MY favorite.)
The Great Angel!!!!!!
This is gonna be a fun little run of videos…
Personally, can’t wait until you get to Russ.
Tho… this comment section is gonna get slapped by chaos.
Sanguinius was a Man, burdening the mantle of Primarch,
Same as Dante is a man, burdening the mantle of Space marine.
Sanguinius, khan, Russ,or robutte (I put rob because logically yes but whatever) the others are my bias lol this is best not 1v1 right?
Sanguinius was the greatest because he was at the core flawed and human and rose above them!
I'm a Dark Angels player, sinse I read decent of angels I fell in love with the faction. I Love the Lion as a character because of is flaws. But even the Lion admits that it would've been bettwr if Sanguinius had lived instead of him. To me, Sanguinius is the greatest Primarch in almost every way.
You Gona make a case for Manus 😂
For the Blood Brother...
Angel Boy 💪💪 not my primarch but i love him. Who doesnt though tbf
It would ultimately come down to what "greatness" means...
Is greatness a measure of influence? Horus would undoubtedly be the most influential of the Primarchs.
Is greatness a form of symbolic significance? Sanguinius is the only Primarch with symbolic significance approaching the Emperor.
Is greatness a matter of achievement? Lorgar set a fire in the galaxy that reformed it to fit his theistic vision.
Is greatness a result of overcoming struggles? Dorn was the heart of the loyalist defense during the Heresy. It's doubtful any of his brothers could have lead that defense, and held out until Robute arrived with reinforcements.
Horus was indubitably the most charismatic but he also was quick to anger and had feelings of envy and jealousy.
Sanguinius saw himself purely as a warrior but became a symbol to the Imperium through his deeds. He was insecure but humble enough to even pledge allegiance to his sons without asking for theirs.
Lorgar's achievement was Erebus' really.
Dorn's masterful fortification tactics were "almost" broken by Perturabo's masterful siege tactics at the siege of Terra. The Iron Cage speaks against Dorn as "the greatest".
No Primarch was best at everything but Sanguinius had the ability to be the best ambassador, the most honest and reliable. They say he was beloved by many of his brothers and atleast respected by all, but Sanguinius saw the best in them in return. Deeds and achievements aside, that is why I think Sanguinius was the greatest Primarch.
Sanguinius is the best of them, as stated by the Primarchs themselves
Sanguinius is great, but in the end he had to lay down his life just to create an opportunity for the Emperor to claim victory. That victory still came at too high a price for the Imperium to make Sanguinius the greatest.
The Khan is the greatest pimarch, he feels the most human to me
Duh.
But tell me abouy him again anyway. He is like superman or other good paragons, good and true and should be loved. He is my guy.
I think a simple way to valve them is to remove them from the story, lost primarch style and see how things would change.
Like the evil ones are more powerful (techinally) but a real man get stabbed and broken and still finishes off his foe.
I think Sang is great but Imo, I think Gman or Perp is better?
I feel like they would be able to look at stuff and just crush their foes in a epic show of force and any character like them Changes everything around them.
Im a ride or die Alpha Legion fan but lets be honest with ourselves, Sanguinious is the best Primarch, with Alpharius Omegon being the close second of course ;^)
The next one is the Khan because these 3 primarchs are intertwined!
And still I believe his real name is Zazu and I expect to see him getting stuffed into the birdie boiler sometime around 13th edition. 😁
Big Chicken Man is the greatest and the best.
Like he is a literal giant angel.. that is like one of the great positive ideas for so many westerners.. seething through religion, media, art.. It is the ultimate phantasy for like 2 thousand years.
Maybe he ate the two missing primarchs.
I'm a Space Wolf player but if everyone wasn't biased I think we could all agree that Sanguinius was the greatest, along with Horus (at least before his fall.)
His speech during the siege of Terra when he held the gate
I would have stand with him right then to the end
Goosebumps!
I listen to it once a month or so for motivation
"I have spoken enough. You need hear no more of my fears and confessions. All that remains is for me to ask.... Will you run?"
Is the speech in any of the books? Or Audible? Tyia
