  • Welcome to Sunshine Swim Center. This is an overview of one of our Sunfish level skills. Here at Sunshine, we believe in instructor education, water safety and creating a love for swimming in all of our classes.
Our Sunfish Level is an intermediate level; for swimmer's 4 years old and up with a ratio of 4 swimmers to one instructor.
    Seated Dive
A seated dive is the first position in our learning to dive sequence. With this position we hope to teach the swimmers how to enter into the pool with their arms and head first.
    Seated Dive Sequence:
Swimmers should be seated with their bottom close to the edge of the pool deck, legs in the water, with the bottom of their feet firmly pressed against the interior pool wall.
Swimmers arms should be in streamline position.
Once in the ready position, swimmers will lean forward until the tip of their streamline is almost touching the water.
As swimmers are leaning into the water, they push off the wall with their feet, and enter the pool fingertips first.
Our instructors grab each swimmer by the hands while they are in streamline position and help guide them into the pool.
Some swimmers will slide off the wall into the pool instead of having their hands enter first. To help with this, put your other hand on their stomach to help them make sure their feet stay on the wall behind them until the very last moment.
