pioneer is absolutely not playing around ,they are killing the game right now and even at this price point it is right there with the 1200's and your getting more for your buck
Love the technology with these turntables worth every penny 2 in 1 can’t beat that best of both worlds
That looks an absolute beast of a machine , Pioneer not messing about . Top notch
I've been wanting this for years. I just didn't know how to implement. Pioneer figured it out. Can't wait to feel this unit on my fingers.
Nice for Professionals and DJ Tech Nerds but let's be honest - for the rest who also plays vinyl, a good mixer and control DVS is more than enough.
For sure!💯
im not even a scratch dj and still this is cool, maybe it works with traktor one day
Why do you need to be a scratch DJ to own these? That is the problem with Gen Z DJ's you should be able to play and perform for all crowds.
Thanks so much for this sneak peek!
Phase was a great advancement, and the Rane 12's are certianly dope, but I've been waiting for something to bring together that same sort of functionality while still being able to play my records, and it seems it's finally here! I'll definetly be keeping my eyes on this one. Can't wait for a full review!
Exactly, this combo is so dope. I can’t wait to do some test runs with a full set!
Thank you for your review bro I would’ve gotten it but for the price and just having phase I’m fine with what I have atm. This is definitely a game changer I love how it really is different with the stem feature plus the adjusting of how the record will feel loving what pioneer is doing!
- DJKhrisLopez
Its, perfect. Dude they finally did it, and i just upgraded to a pionner ddj rr. Gotta start saving up again and get myself one of those.
These are on my Christmas wish list to myself, they solve a lot of problems.
TLM, your scratch chops are always on point 😎😎
Thanks!
So good to see you still going at it! And damn that little intro scratch though 👌👌👌
Thanks!
You tha man DJ TLM! good review. @Pioneer Please send the man a full set, lets continue the review Pt2.
man i am in love.I come from vinyl and i have the Rane 12s but i have a large vinyl collection which need decent turntables .Boom there you go
Just Fantastic!
Wat een monster van een draaitafel zeg! Mooie review, helaas ook voor mij (nog) niet haalbaar. Goals!
Great review my friend, looks like a dope controller/turntable!
Great review! I'm just disappointed in Technics for not stepping up and doing something like this.
This is a great idea. Thanks. For the video
Phase and Rane must be pissed 😂
All these companies should talk with each other
Good to see you out. Getting a little meaty under the chin. Life is good. All you tutorials are golds in my book.
Thanks buurman, was really curious when I saw it being presented, now I know what it's all about!
Ok dan! 👊🏾
Your scratching was absolute fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!!
thats incredible. never seen such technology
On the alien tip.
ingenius
Stellar
Being mostly techno/house music dj aficionado (couple 100s vinyls in my collection) that is looking very promising to have both decks and controllers if i feel tipsy when mixing ,tbh looks like a fooking banger to me;)
Great video
Awesome
Thank you
great energy
We share the same dream haha. They look amazing bro.
Nuff Respect TLM..Big John
👊🏾
I just bought myself a pair, and these just stomped on all turntables. Yes, even Technics
Dope! I didn’t know pioneer had a new turntable out.
It was announced by Pioneer DJ about 15 minutes ago
These are a beasts!! I remember when Technic 1200s were $400😅😅😅 brand new.
Prices are on a different level indeed!😁 New Technics SL1200 mk7s will set you back 900+ a piece as well
Pioneer is the winner 🔥🔥🔥
Phase killer!
For gigs, Phase will still be my first choice (unless the venue has CRSS12s of course😁)
thanks bro needed this ( New subscriber) Locked in
it is game changer
Great content thanks
👊🏾
Yeah thats looking real healthy...
Been waiting to find a video where someone really cuts on these, and now I'm sold!
👍🏾👍🏾
I've been wanting to learn how to scratch more. This might be the device that pushes me toward making that a reality.
You can't buy your way into it dude. Just scratch on what you got, DJ
I still got a pair of Numark CDX tables. These things came out like 16 years ago and mine still work. I use them to control Traktor. I have the control disk code ripped as an mp3 file on the hard drive. It has a full sized platter on top and feels just like sratching on vinyl.
*FINALLY!* I was planning on eventually adding turntables to my NS7 II, but Serato's sudden discontinuation of the controller for no good reason put a wrench in those plans. Now I don't have to buy an NS7 III (which is practically the same damn controller) and pray that it doesn't get discontinued soon as well. I can just buy this! Thank you for making me aware of this turntable! Can't wait until it releases! (edit: $1300 *each!?!?!?!?* Well...)
*Edit 2:* Aww, why'd you un-❤ my comment? :(
$1399 each.
You know Rane does make some really good controllers.
I will stick to my trusted technic 1200s not trying to spend that amount on turntables...
Great review salute my brother
Thanks
I'm with you... When you get yours Ill have to get mines LOL
Good Job My G👊💥💥💥💥💥💥
So thats just like a Round Phase Remote. I wish phase would have made those things round.
Not really. The Magvell clamp isn’t a wireless transmitter like Phase. The clamp is used to “lock” the platter for tight control. The turntable sends the signal to the software through the USB cable
❤ love this, but so many djs now own phase and Rane 12s. I own the Rane mks and pioneer xz. But I tell u this is good one from pioneer.
Yeah, we do have a ton if options now! I would love these in the studio, and I would take Phase on the road
…this turntable is awesome, but I bet the MK II will have a digital screen read out on it, like the Rane Twelve MK II…
I’ll wait…
Awesome review TLM!!! 👍🏾
This hybrid turntable artists quite the double header features with ability for both analog playback .
If you look under the deck, there is cable routing so you can easily route the power cable to where the RCAs are in battle style, or vice versa in standard. That was intentionally designed that way.
Really? That’s dope, but it didn’t look like there would be enough space to fit the power next to the rca and USB. Or dod you mean that there’s an option to swap the power and rca? I didn’t have a chance to see the inside when I had the unit here.
It's a expensive luxury, not a necessity. Nice though.
Oh, a 1000% I don’t need this, but I would love to have them😁
Dope
thats interesting cutting just using the slipmatt.... might open up some super fast stabs
Got get 2 of them soon 😮
Dope!!!! I mean sometimes you got to pay for what you want and quality.🤷🏾♂️
🔥🔥🔥
Yeah about that power cord area
There is a space kept free on the bottom for easy guiding the power cable to the backside.
Salute
like i said in other channels, getting a pair come tax season!!
Thank you. A product overview that doesn't take half an hour. I'll stick with my 8000s and Phase for the time being. Cheers
Enjoy your 25 mins saved my man😎
And the 8000s and Phase are a great combo that I use as well💯
Well, I bought this device myself twice as the next big DJ thing. Of course, it makes fun to use it, no doubt about that. It feels also worthy.
BUT there are a few downsides that Pioneer could have done better:
1. The height adjustment doesn't do much, the tone arm is still low above the platter in heighest position
2. For a hybrid device I expect the platter to play the song nearly as fast as a jog wheel. However, I think this is mechanical not possible, since it is still a turntable.
3. You can't slow down the platter using the centered spindle for fine adjustments.
4. I'll be fine with it that Pioneer doesn't ship a needle, since every DJ might use a different one. But I'm missing a drill hole for the needle's saver, there would be enough space left on the turntable for it.
5. The lamp isn't replacable. I think this comes to since it is a two-in-one lamp: Speed and search light.
6. no 78 rpm runtime
7. No feelable click nor any lamp at 0 tempo adjustment.
8. The slipmat is thiner than usual ones. Why not standard thickness Pioneer?
9. A track selection wheel on the turntuble would complete this nice thing.
So, in conclusion, it's a pleasure to use it, but definitively not worth the money with those drawbacks. I'll keep mine, but I'm not satisfied with it.
Oh that scratch is making me itch.....Pioneer is what it is...its in the name Pioneers of state of the art equipment. It's been that way since the beginning.
like the man said the deck for me would be where i control my stems and cue points on the mixer
❤
I'm still waiting for the day i dont need to use a laptop with it and having to carry around a heavy bag full of vinyl to use with it. For example it would be nice to see a USB slot and a built in screen for reading playlists
Dj TLM I just noticed a week ago that I missed out on a new controller.
I'm just waiting for a Pioneer scratch mixer with headphone-cue buttons 🤦♂️ then I'm going to buy two of these
The question i got is.. Have you still got to put a rizla paper or sticky label through the vinyl hole or does the clamp solve this problem...
Good video! Does this use USB to control Serato or RCA connection? Also can this use USB to send vinyl audio to a computer for recording?
As far as I know, it’s USB for DVS (Serato/Rekordbox), and RCA for vinyl. But when I get the unit back I can check all of this out to make sure
@@djTLMtv thanks
I don't get the break 3-position switch. Should be a rotary dial, like on Reloop rp7000, especially for that kind of money, so that you cab dial it in exactly to your wishes.
Yeah, I wasn’t the biggest fan of that position either, but then again I only have to set that once and then I’m not changing it again.
🎉 DJ TLM ON THE SET 👍👍👍👍👍
I notice you still have the Shure M- 44's
PIONEER YES THIS IS A GAME CHANGER 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Numark and Gemini did this years back, but Pioneer took it to a WHOLE NEXT LEVEL OF DJ EQUIPMENT !
Thanks! Those aren’t Shure needles though. I’m using the Jico replacement cartrdige and needle. Really dope
And which Numark and Gemini devices are you talking about?
Gemini Cdt 05 and Numark X2 they weren't "controller's" but a interesting option back in the day.
Things have come a long way since belt drive Technics and Sony S-arm turntables. Circa 1983 😎
@@djTLMtv whats the name of the Jico replacement cartridge? N-44-7?
Do you have to put this magvel thingy on top, if you play vinyl in just analog mode? Does it feel different then?
No, it’s not needed. When you’re playing vinyl you only have to control the movement of the vinyl (not the platter. But in some cases the clamp might help to make a wobbly piece of vinyl a bit steadier ;)
Do you think people will end up with different slip mats for scratching alone vs playing vinyl?
I don’t know. I loved the feeling with just the slipmat, but ilI need to feel it with a full set. I might want to/ need that vinyl grip for beat juggling, etc.
But I love the fact that it already felt great with just the mat
If they would have released in Silver it def would win my dollar being that my set up is all silver (xone96,1200s) & I have no silver cdj options. I’ll be shopping & waiting till something silver releases.
Are you gonna review the phase controller?
Actually, I still need to do that indeed!
All I'd like now is a mixer with Serato, Engine or similar built in so we can ditch the laptop and I'd have my ultimate setup!
Dope, but a pair of those, flight cases and a mixer gonna set you back 5k!
Yup, but then again, a set of CDJ 3000s, flight cases and a mixer will set you back close to 8k 😁
But if I had a set of these, I wouldn’t travel with them. They stay in the studio. I’ll put them on my rider, and whenever the venue can’t get them I’ll just bring Phase.
@@djTLMtv Ive just got so use to leaving my Tech M5Gs at home and taking the Rev7 on the road.
I'm so happy for you. You now have the turntable you always wanted.
I wish I had it. It went straight back to Pioneer after shooting the video. But they’re at the top of my wish list💯
Do you have a tutorial for how to set this up and connect it? I can't get my CRSS 12 to connect to my MacBook M1 Pro 2021. My mixer is a DJM S11. I can't get it to play Digital DVS, or just like a control vinyl style. I can get it to play regular records no problem.
i can’t make a tutorial because I don’t have the CRSS12 here. I did run into the same issue when I had it. The only thing is: I don’t remember how I solved it!😬
I’m going to check with my Pioneer rep on Monday. If you tune in on Monday during my live W&A I should have an answer.
I do remember something about giving Serato and / or Rekordbox permission to access the mic on the Mac, but I don’t remember if that was the solution;)
Do the Start/Stop, Motor Off, 33, 45, Step Pitch, Application, Deck, Reset buttons are midi mappable ?
We need a silent cue, a sync button, not another way to trigger hot cue. I don’t understand why they choose always the same shortcuts layout
Great question, but unfortunately I didn’t have the time to test that.
@@djTLMtv any chance to ask pioneer ?
@@lh4ltube I just checked and YES those buttons have a MIDI channel assigned to them so you should be able to remap them.
Thanks for this. But I'm having an issue with my pair. I have them connected to my S11 via RCA
and USB but when I have a song rolling on deck 1 and then change the deck from 1 to 3, it's still controlling what's on deck 1 on the platter, and not allowing me access to deck 3 (despite that it says it's set to deck 3)...
What am I doing wrong? Or is this a known issue? Because I can't figure out where I'm going wrong. I just tried this on my Rev5 and it works fine. Is it something to do with the S11?
I'm also wondering if stem level control via the EQs is an option on the S11 like it is on the Rev5?
Any help on this stuff is greatly appreciated.
I think the stem eq feature is exclusive to the REV5.
I currently don’t have the CRSS12 or S11 here so I can’t test the other issue
When cutting on the CRSS 12 did you ever notice the arrow on the magvel clamp start start to drift???
No, I did not experience any drift.
what buffer settings you using in serato to be able to use stems my man? I have a good spec laptop but I can't seem to get 1ms and not see an amber light pop up on screen. I'm using windows and it isn't just a slider I have 3 settings - latency, number of buffers and sample size would love any input please. ty
I’ve had mine set to 5 for quite a while. That goes back to the days when I was using a computer that couldn’t handle anything. I actually never set it back to something snappy like 1 or 2, so I need to test that to see if Stems will cause me issues then. I’ll try it out this weekend
@@djTLMtv that's actually really good to know that you can do what you do with 5, I'd love to hear your experience with a lower buffer please update 🙏
@@scratchgonzo I dont think you have noticable latency with 5ms, your computer needs some time to process the sound and 5ms is allready pretty low.
Can the output in analog mode be trusted to match the output of a eg 1210? I’m from vinyl background. Still buy vinyl and very selective over my music purchases to remain focused but cost of vinyl etc is hard. If this output in vinyl mode can honestly pack a punch then I’d be really interested. Would open up a whole new world to practice both styles
It should, but I can’t vouch for that until I test it. Hopefully I’ll have it back in the studio soon.
@@djTLMtv - thanks for the feedback. I’ll be sure to check out any other reviews you do on it
Is the torque better than the plx 1000s they were shocking compaired to reloops and vestax decks ?
It felt great to me, but I would love to do a proper juggle test. Hopefully Incan get a full set in the studio for that soon
@djTLMtv thanks I was saving up for the reloop rp8000mk 2 then these come along haha
There are 3 settings for the Torque, low is at 2.0kg (simular to SL1210's), there is a 3 and a 4.5kg aswell (like modern decks). So you can choose what you like.
1400 for a turntable ? Lol they can keep it. I’ll stay with the 1200s
It’s not just a turntable though. But 1399,- is a lot of money
Pioneer should just give you a set
Yeah, but that’s not that easy when you’re in a small country. Small country = small budget, so they don’t have a ton of gear to give away (unfortunately)
@@djTLMtv oh i know. i am from the Netherlands too 😁.( Arnhem) But you are making really good advertisement for them with this vid 😜 So they should thank you for that haha
Imagine they'll ad the option to put ur USB-stick in this... would make CDJ'S obsolet but hey why not haha
And a Screen too would be magic or put the screen on the mixer like the controllers. Thats where we are heading
Any idea if it works with traktor?
Probably not
Pioneer definitely trying to put Phase outta business with their expensive Phase remotes.
This won’t hurt Phase. Unless every venue gets a set of CRSS12s (which I don’t see happening)
Phase is a small and compact portable system that fits in your pocket. Try to fit 2 of these decks in your pockets ;) So I dont think they are straight up compatitors.
they are going to sell like hotcakes.
I don’t know. The price might be a problem for a lot of people. It’s not that easy to put up 2700,- or 2800,-
I know I want them, but I can’t afford to spend that kind of money on new DJ gear right now😁
@@djTLMtv the same!! I would love to have them but that price!!!! I also have the reloop 8000 mkii’s and cannot justify them. I do believe that others will buy them though.
Does it allow for vinyl recording?
How do you mean? Directly from the turntable to a computer? I don’t think so
@@djTLMtv I'm an old-school dj (60s-70s) and still in the transitioning process from vinyl to mp3 (please don't 😂). So when I still get gigs, I'm just bringing a hard drive and controller
😙😙😙😙😙😙😙 please please AAAYYYOOOO
How you doing buddy need to save some more money
If I want to buy a set of these I’ll have to save up for real!💯
A PLX with PHASE
Well, it’s a bit different. Phase is wireless.
they just need to build a mixer now that you can plug a usb in and control it with these turntables. no more laptops
***That’s more of a PLatter**
Nothing like the CDJs that have a platter so small and barely assists the breakbeat procedures. Thank also the curved Arm, which obeys the Groove and not fight it like the straight arm, which in effect adds wear in the groove.
ts copy of Phase essencial !! - same hardware but built in the turntable !!!
Not really though. Phase sends the signal wirelessly. The turntable doesn’t.
Perhaps its more precise..but it worth it ?
This is too..the center spindle sends wireless signal to N internal board wich convert the signal and connect it to the PC.. it's the same as Phase does
Pioneer just repacked it in built in turntable unit
