My favourite film of all time. I never got into the system because I had some great people looking out for me but the opportunities haven’t ceased to this day. I cry every time I watch that last act. Loved your reaction.

My only problem with this great film....is when he escaped through the tunnel he dug...how did he get the poster on the wall perfectly covering the entrance if he was on the other side of the poster and in the tunnel....hmmmmm

Every character is every person but every one wanted to be the one who's been proved right after being wronged. The one who remained at peace and ultimately got revenge on the whole system.

Even in Australia, there have been famous cases of wrongly convicted individuals spending many years in prison before having convictions quashed. The Mickleberg brothers is one of Western Australia's most famous cases. There have been high profile murder convictions quashed in Western Australia. You either go to prison and leave with a worse attitude or you don't want to have your basic freedoms taken away again. After 5 years, which is a relatively light sentence, it took at least 2 years to readjust to society. It only takes a few years to become institutionalised.

The prison system here in Canada is very similar to the UK. It's not about rehabilitation....it's about punishment and warehousing human beings....100 years from now history will look at this with shame and regret
Some people need to be taken out of circulation for the good of the public. Some people need to be punished for evil deeds. Justice MUST be served or society will collapse into chaos.

I have read 53 Stephen King/Richard Bachman books, all still in my bookcase and will be the Debbie Downer with both the book and it's adaptation that aside from King's patented character building this is so overrated. Your insight is valuable and I can't wait for your critique of the King adaptaion GOAT "The Green Mile"!👍

Am sure this is based on a true story about two brothers who escaped and the law thought they were dead theirs a thing on CZcams I think it was we're a relative of the brothers asked for the escape to be re investigated which it did and they exhumed the body that was found and done all the dna test they have today and it wasn't any of the brothers like they claimed and the relative of the brothers has a postcard that was sent from Brazil years after the exscape guess who it was from u got it the brothers they were the only two to ever escape from alcatraz prison
I might be wrong but this is based on escape from alcatraz the escape was done by Frank Morris and John and clerence anglin and they were never caught
