That's Cindy Blackman, Santana's wife, on drums. And for sure, swagger is a huge part of being a rock star. It's part of the irreverence that started the whole genre. Just standing there doesn't convey that idea.

If you didn't know Lenny was the embodiment of a rock star before, you definitely gonna know after watching this video! The first song I ever herd bye him was "let love rule". I was instantly a fan and I have been ever since.

@SomeOldAtheist 67 Same here! I first discovered Lenny on his first national tour as an opening act for The Cult - it was 1990-ish, best I can remember and it was a half-house show at the old Omni Arena in Atlanta, GA. I have seen him several times since!

I love the kids in the video. It's 1993, and they're dancing out of the old 80s with such joy. (And wearing better clothes while they're at it.) The early 90s was a much-needed, long-overdue correction from the silliness that had accreted like so many crusty barnacles. The grunge movement, hip-hop growing up, female singer-songwriters on the charts, and back-to-basic rockers like Kravitz. A glorious little period.

*70s. This entire album is packed full of 1970s flavor. In fact, the label on the CD even says copyright 1973 instead of 1993. It was made to look like a tiny little record from the old days.

IMO, Lenny didn’t get enough recognition for how talented he is musically. A few of my favorites; I BELONG TO YOU, IF YOU CAN’T SAY NO, TELL ME MAMA. Lenny’s mother was an actress on The Jefferson’s. Her character was the wife of an inter-racial couple ( George and Weasie’s neighbors). Ironically in her real life she was married to her white Jewish lawyer so hence… Lenny Kravitz was born. He plays multiple instruments as well as sings and is known for his fusion of rock and funk. When he married Lisa Bonet from the Cosby show he was arguably at the height of his career. Lenny was extremely close with his mother and when she passed away he wrote TELL ME MAMA. A beautiful but heart wrenching song in her honor. Thank you for reacting to Lenny, guys!

If you go to the beginnig of his career with his first album , he started off very acoustic based. With each album afterward he got a little heavier each time. And it's no secret Lenny's a huge fan of 70's rock. He purchased & uses a lot of older analog mixing boards to help get that classic sound.

a song from the time when Kravitz was making hit after hit. And undoubtedly, one of the most influential videos I've ever watched. You have a desire to scream and dance to madness!

I remember seeing this video in the 90s, and thinking that would’ve been the coolest party with the coolest people in the world. 30 years later that thought still holds up.

Lenny had all of the girls us mortals were dreaming about in the 90s. He also put outa great live show. Being there as a guy offered all kinds of opportunities if you were not creepy

Lenny is awesome, and he always never fails to entertain, and has musical gifts. He should have been even bigger than he is.

Lenny Kravitz with Cindy Blackman. Man that was my favorite time. Two legends coming together they made that album jump. I think she still tours with Lenny. I know she towards with her husband. She was just out here with him in Las Vegas...

I really love Lenny's tribute to Led Zeppelin from the same Kennedy Centre Honours performance. He did Whole Lotta Love, just before Heart came on. Check it out if possible

Always loved this tune. Was a young teen when it came out, and I used to crank it for that thumping bass line.

Sweet! When you're ready for more from Lenny Kravitz also check out the ballad "It Ain't Over Til It's Over" from 1991 and the Velvet Underground flavored "Mr. Cab Driver" about New York cabbies from 1989.
