  • Modèle 500-196-30 :
    - ecatalog.mitutoyo.com/ABSOLUTE... ,
    - shop.mitutoyo.fr/web/mitutoyo... .
    Précision : 0,01 mm.
    Répétabilité : 0,01 mm.
    Erreur de 0 à 100 mm : ± 0,01 mm.
    Erreur de 100 (?) à 150 mm : jusqu'à ± 0,02 mm.
    Conformité : JIS B 7507:1993 & DIN 862.1988 : 0.03.
    Autonomie :

Agree with Micky, this is fake. Good observations regarding the differences with the original. In addition, the plastic bag is sealed differently, and the plastic scale is flush at the end of the caliper, whereas it is a little shorter in the original.Diezelle57: where did you buy it and how much did you pay? I hope you knew it was fake. You are totally right about Mitutoyo not being able to authenticate their products. Pathetic. But no matter how much lipstick, it is still a pig. The battery will run down in 3 months not 3 years, and the measurements will never be reliable, especially as the baterry drops in voltage.

Here is the points you can find on your caliper, to know it's a fake one :
    1. Casing (Original one don't have foam)
    2. Jaw (finishing is differ, looks good but still far from Mitutoyo)
    3. Battery cap (below the "absolute" there is an arrow sign, three lines and the last is only a "dot" "." not a line. for the original)
    4. Plastic quality (i see your caliper origin button edge is brittle and breaks by your nail. and also the batt cap quality is really bad compare to the original. the original one is smooth and very precision even under a magnifying glass)
    5. the edges of the plastic parts is rough and the gap is too large. on yours.
Still have more points but better not to mention otherwise they will patch their fake products based on our comments.
But for sure..It's a Fake. sorry to say that..

Actually this is probably a little better made fake that the $30 ebay ones, they've almost, almost got it right this time. But it is FAKE.
I am just holding a genuine Mitutoyo in my hand and: the Slider clamp knurled screw is a good giveaway, Mitutoyo screw has thread all the way up and the body is little shorter. But most importantly, the knurls on yours are rough and crude, the genuine Mitutoyo is more like a watch screw, very delicate with finer knurls. The knurls on yours look like just made quickly with a cheap knurling tool on lathe. You can put the genuine Mitutoyo screw under magnifying glass and there is virtually no flaw and all edges are perfectly round and many smooth bevels - quite impressive actually. The black and yellow measuring tape on the face on Mitutoyo has a fine crosshatch texture, yours looks smooth. The metal finish is not so polished either. Actually it is very crude in parts they could not polish easily like the beveled tips. You should see the smooth finish on Mitutoyo everywhere even in places that are hard to polish. Printing on the back - typical chinese shop print. You should see the delicate print on my Mitutoyo. You can take magnifying glass to it and it is sharp everywhere without any flaw and QR code is very delicate and perfectly pronounced - yours shows how the colors run together during printing... etc... etc... it is FAKE.

The Mitutoyo is a Chinese fake. 1.The depth bar does not have that deep of a notch. 2. The orange sleeves have no graphics other than the Mitutoyo name and the product (Digimatic Caliper). 3. The text on the label should all be on the lower left and be of the same font. 4. The gib screws should have red threadloc. 5. The jaws will not allow light to pass through. 6. there are many videos on this subject but what proves that those in which are shown so-called genuine copies show genuine copies?
