Best update I’ve found. All of this makes my heart sink. This is beyond disgusting. I hope she gets all the support, love, therapy, and rehabilitation she needs. I hope that one day she can find peace. I hope she forever knows how much her parents loved her.

We don't know if it happened, actually is really unlikely because of that same reason, they would've released the info if it had happend, that's actually one of my unanswered questions about this, he didn't abused her sexually (as far as we know) why did he wanted to kidnap her??!! @@Jess-Rabbit but we can't assume something that has not being confirmed, you cannot say is fact when at the moment, there's no information or clues leading to or alluding to that possibility. For the time being, it hasn't been confirmed and we can't say that it happen we have to piece together what we in know is true.
Also she hasn't not come forward and tell her story and I doubt she would do it soon, as you said it might take her years, but I'm sure there's gonna be a trial, and he confessed right away we'll have to wait to the trial and see if something else comes out, because I'm sure is gonna be all over the news

Horrifying in detail. Amazing respect for the courage of a 13 year old to take the chance to escape. Thank God good people were there to help her. This entire matter flipped in less than 40 minutes, didn't it? 88 days of hell, but once she made the move to escape, it all came together for her. All the efforts of the story... the people who helped her KNEW her situation, and acted bravely to help her. Fantastic story.

Just would like to say thank you so much for all the information on this case. So happy for Jayme Closs for her incredible escape from this evil man. Hope she can continue on her recovery in all ways possible from this very "traumatic" event in her young wonderful life. Wish her all the best for her for the rest of her life.

Guy that's worked 5 days and five years or whatever it was is not going to have 5 million dollar. I am also guessing that Douglas County is working on charging him with something too. I'm guessing sexual assault. But they have time now since he's now being held my Barron County.

I think as bad as people want to know details of what happened to this girl during her captivity, people should not know, it could be detrimental to her recovery to have the media telling the world the details of her abuse. It could humiliate her all over again. This is why people should have at least 1 handgun to protect themselves. This was so random, its awful, I actually cried when I read that her mother was holding her in a bear hug and that he made her mother duct tape her mouth and he shot her mother in the head right in front of her. That is so awful. My heart and prayers go out to this family. Its too bad Wisconsin doesn't have the death penalty because this pos deserves it. If he was any kind of a person that accepts responsibility, he would plead guilty and forgo a trial to keep Jamie feom having to see him again and spare her that pain. Chris Watts did the right thing and had it done within months.

SO CLOSE...POLICE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED .......ANY CARS THEY SAW IN THAT AREA!!!
Logistically impossible as they were responding to a 911 call and had no idea that there was a kidnapping that had taken place.
Kymberly P - There were three police cars and they saw another car going the other way near the location of the call. They could easily have spared one unit to follow that car and run the plate.
GH1618 ~ They didn’t know definitively who/what car they were looking for. Law enforcement has to be careful about how they approach a subject and make sure they have accurate information. A slight misstep can alter a case significantly. He was known to change cars and licenses plates.
Hard to stop all cars when you don’t have a clue to what had happened.
Buckwild 65 ~ I agree. She was safe and gave some descriptions over a VERY brief 911 call. The cops didn’t have all the details yet.
For all those people who were "100% willing to bet" that she was involved in this... you should be ashamed... this poor poor girl went through so much only to be criticized by the public and held responsible for the murder of her parents.

I lay here crying watching this, just knowing how traumatizing all of this had to be for Jayme. Not to mention her parents, they knew they were going to die and I’m sure all they could think about was their baby girl. And knowing how she was in the trunk and could hear those sirens, and couldn’t do anything to get help. I’m 41 and don’t know if I could’ve kept myself together like Jayme did, she truly is a brave girl. It just breaks my heart knowing she saw her parents be killed, her world will never be the same. I pray for her and hope she gets the help she’s going to need.

Not only did this monster plan malicious murders and kidnapping.. but whatever else he had done while holding this innocent girl captive... He killed this poor young lady's parents and stole away from her, the process of grieving because she then feared for her life every second of those 88 days. She has a long road ahead of her to begin healing. This monster has his place in hell. Jayme is a brave and courageous young lady. God bless her and keep her forever from harm

If you listen to the full 911 call after Jayme escaped the cabin, the woman who was walking her dog says she had HER cabin nearby for 4 years and would walk her dog around the Patterson cabin and never saw him even once.

He is a first time offender. That is why they gave him bail. If he does the insanity plea after his treatment he will be released. It is the American Justice system.

If he is guilty by mental disease / defect ( which we've had a discussion in my criminal justice class and the chance of that given the steps he took in the crime is slim to none as the evidence shows that he understood that he knew what he was doing was wrong) he automatically gets sent to a psychiatric place for the maximum amount of time for the crimes he committed. So since he killed two people, he would be there for 80 years for that as well as however many years for kidnapping. And with all of those years added up, he wouldn't be alive long enough to be let out back into society since it's very rare for people to live past 100, if even yo get to 100.

I was at work at the shop along highway 8. I heard sirens coming from Rusk county into Barron county at blazing speed... For some reason I had the coldest chills go up my back. I won't forget the feeling once it broke news what I knew that officer was going into. If that made sense.
