I do like that the 007 creator (Ian Fleming?) created the super spy concept due to his incoming marriage.
James bond was based christopher lee. His life before being an actor is crazy.
Ian Fleming was himself a decorated British spy during WWII and wrote the books after retiring from spy work.
The one thing I loved about John Wick was in the first movie. You know how in most films, where the primary antagonist is talked up to be the big bad? Vigo, as one of the bad guys, talks up John Wick, the protagonist, as if he were the big bad, taking that trope and turning it on its head. There were a couple of videos explaining that dynamic, from a dialogue perspective, and from a body language perspective.
Alot of people didn't like this result, but everyone familiar with the older versions of bond, knew he had this in the bag.
Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan willl forever be in my eyes best two Bonds.
Credit where credit's due; let's not forget Roger Moore's 007 tenure.

All three were my favorites. Timothy Dalton did well, sadly the writing wasn’t great.
A lot of people tend to forget just what Bond is capable of because they mostly remember the gadgets and the ladies, but over the years he's matched or surpassed a lot of the feats that we see Wick pull off other than outright strength.
Even then he's fought and beaten folk that almost superhuman so when it comes to their physical abilities the two are entirely evenly matched with only their arsenals really separating them and Wick has nothing that can compete with the sci fi level tech that Bond has used over the years.
A more interesting and, probably, much more evenly matched fight would be Wick and Punisher. Sure he's a Marvel 'superhero' but I don't think he regularly utilises the same level of weaponry as Bond so it would come down to just abilities making it a lot harder to predict who would win.

Punisher would rip Wick apart. And yes, Punisher does have high-tech gadgets and has actual experience against superheroes and supervillains.

@@jackstar7204 Not really. Punisher has done two tours in Vietnam, so he's used to surprise attacks or booby traps by the Viet Cong. He's even taken down Deadpool.
@@Animeaddiction I'm sorry but how? Military training and experience does not exactly give you the power to bypass regen. Also that authorial bias is in reference to punisher kills the marvel universe. If it wasn't for authorial bias, he would be dead in the first fight.
It also doesn't make up for the fact he's shitty character and doesn't deserve the title of hero at all. I’m sorry but I hate the dude.
If you pay close attention to the John Wick analysis, you'll notice that Wiz and Boomstick used James Bond movie titles to clue you in on who will win.
They literally gave us the answer before the battle started. 😢😢😮💨🧐😱

@@kylemaynor1264 Sorry, just wanted to make a joke and text can sometimes mask the tone of a statement. Death Battle wouldn't make it that obvious though. The obvious part came from the fact Wick doesn't exactly have much material compared to Bond. Didn't mean for it to be hurtful though. No hard feelings?
Also tinfoil's actually pretty useful for refrigeration, if you don't have the room in a container (like a lunchbox for school/work) for a plastic bag.
@@jackstar7204 I just prefer plastic wrap and wax paper. In my mind, I ly certain foods are suitably compatible with tin foil and I just don't make them often enough to bother using it.

This was an excellent episode, but I still think Bond's opponent should've been Ethan Hunt and Wick's should've been Jason Bourne.

Other option besides watching a Bond marathon, is watching five of (what I consider) the 6 best Bond movies; Goldfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me, Living Daylights, Goldeneye and Skyfall.

I love this fight. Goofy yet so badass.
The biggest issue with this is they included the video game and comic books. If it was just based off of movies alone John Wick easily had the fight. I love 007 grew up watching those films. but Bond is a glamor version of John Wick, deadly but more showy.
I would disagree. If you listen to their explanation on Bond winning, they said the most important factors in his victory were his faster quick draw and gadgets, only referring the feats from the movies in this explanation. Hell, they didn't even USE any videogame gadgets in the fight itself. And also saying that Bond is a glamor version of Wick is disregarding the character's roots - Bond was made to be a harsh, cruel, intense spy, laser focused on his work. Sure, not all cinematic incarnations follow that concept, but Dalton/early Craig certainly do. Wick wouldn't even EXIST if it wasn't for 007
@@maniaccop3403 You can disagree but they mentioned the video game stuff in why he won. Movie to Movie Wick easy soaks bond. And I'm a huge bond fan. Bond is insanely less harsh than Wick. Bond is more one on one fighting sure, but someone that can take on full rooms of world tier deadly assassins a 1v1 is easy.
Yea this was not a fair fight. Bond is technically multiple agents, but they decided to do an amalgamation of all versions for this DB. On top of that he is basically a super hero. While Wick is just a VERY SKILLED assassin with, at best, peak human physical abilities.
Don't worry about your emotions not letting you win Beth, all you do is win on a regular basis.
considering that they mentioned pretty much all of James Bond's movies by name as a pun, the winner was kinda clear. also, this James Bond was a composite.

This is a really enjoyable episode. Bond always makes me think of my Dad since he is a big Bond fan. I rooted for Wick here myself because of the dog thing. I'm also with Bethany, if anyone screws with my dogs (or girlfriend) then I'd lose my damn mind lol

The first time I saw this episode the rundown made me think James Bond would win, but even if it didn't I would have had to go with him. My middle name is Ian and my parents said it came from Ian Fleming. I have to root for Bond no matter what.

Even though it probably wouldn't have helped a whole lot, it would have been really great to have waited on John Wick 4 for the death battle because Zero was already kinda like a super ninja assassin in 3, but Caine was just full on Donny Yen as Daredevil saying killing is on the table.
Yeah I don’t know I think that John Wick would’ve taken the cake on that one not that James Bond isn’t a total badass, but John Wick can just take so much more damage and can deal so much more destructive force. I think that in my opinion John Wick would’ve won.

Bond is packing much more powerful and deadly explosives than Wick is.
Not to mention that he also has lasers.
@@HB-fq9nn I understand where you’re coming from, but if it was a fight between these two, and James Bond didn’t just outsmart him and blow John Wick up and it was an actual fight like gunfight knife fight deal I think in that realm John Wick is much more of a destructive force, and that’s kind of what this was made to look like IMO, it wasn’t made to be perceived in my opinion as a smarts battle, but if it was I think James Bond would totally take the cake if it had more of an intellectual direction towards the fighting but if it’s just a brute, pistol mono E mono and stuff, even adding in the car and the little laser watch thing I could still see John Wick winning, but that’s just my opinion.

No. He is stronger and his accuracy is wayy better with a pistol even at distances that require snipers.
Bond doesn't need his gadgets. Even without them he always finds a way to win. He beat Jaws, Oddjob, and Dr No using his wits and resourcefulness, and all three of those villains have near superhuman strength/gadgets of their own, while Bond was unarmed.
