Gabriel Traveler Kazakhstan really needs to invest their money on education, meeting basic nutritional needs of their population, healthcare, job creation, R&D etc. They seem to be spending their money on things which won't even benefit their population. A country builds skyscrapers when they have a central business district like Shanghai, Hong Kong, NYC or London.

Gabriel Traveler exactly so much futuristic buildings and there's hardly anyone on the street. One just cannot build a Dubai or Shanghai just because they have tons of petro dollar. Countries like Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan is all about a dictator spending oil money on one city trying to make it look futuristic. But where are the jobs? Where are financial and tech hubs? World class universities and hospitals? That's what makes a city. And it takes decades to achieve that.

Almaty is supposed to be like the cultural "capital" of Kazakhstan and also got a lot beautiful scenery around it- I've got an online friend there and seen some pictures. So it's a bit shame if you won't make it to there as well during this stay but I hope you can in the future. The country is like the world's biggest landlocked country and the more you see from it the more diverse and beautiful in natural scenery you will understand that it is. Steppes, mountains, deserts. It's got the second biggest canyon in the world somewhere as well. But I'm sure that Aktau and the Caspian Sea will be very cool as well! Anyway it's a country, and area of the world, which I really would want to visit some day. And I think it would take ages to explore the whole.
Astana is, well I frankly am not much for modernistic and futuristic architecture, but it probably has its good sides as well.

    • @IndigoTraveller

Turkish is written in Latin alphabet, and Kazakh language is related to Turkish since both part of the Turkic language family. They may not be identical but they are somewhat similar. So, it'd be easier if they write Kazakh in Latin alphabet. Not only more people around the world find it easier to read the signs, but it would make it easier for both people from other Turkic speaking countries to communicate with the Kazakhs.

Seriously really like this type of videos, informative but remaining natural and chilled and with your real first impressions. I had never considered travelling to that part of the world but you're opening our eyes, so excited to keep discovering and exploring with you. It does seem fascinating and unique as a place, would have never thought there's a Muslim population. Apart from the cost of the entrance to the building, it'd be interesting to know the costs of things in general there (for us lowbudget travellers haha). Your channel makes my day! 🗺 ✈ 😍

You know what, actually Kazakhstan has a real contrast. I see someone commented that you'd be sleeping in a tent, hunting and drinking fermented horse milk. And that is true. You really can do that if you go to the villages. Aktau is also amazing, but I'd recommend you to go some villages in Eastern Kazakhstan. Nature there is stunning and you may feel the village spirit there. Yeah, I am making a little advertisement for you to come to the village where my mom was born))) I am sure you wouldn't be regretting. I live in Astana and love this city but still, that is capital and it is developed, looks like western cities, so if you really want to feel Kazakhstan, You should go deeper. And I think Almaty is really fun. You have to go there. You will be surprised more)
