How to Make the CHAOS EMERALDS - Origami Diamond - No Tape! No Glue! No Scissors!

- Dear viewers, Here's the REAL video for how to make beautiful origami diamonds (or, as Obama chuckled, "You mean the Chaos Emeralds?") whose thumbnail has captured the fancy of over 20 million viewers who clicked on it only to discover the actual video was a clickbait sham! -- not even close to the thumbnail. It turns out the thumbnail of the beautiful diamonds was stolen from this paper construction post: www.minieco.co.uk/3d-paper-dia... Those beautiful diamonds aren't even origami! To make matters worse several other copycat click bait videos popped up using the same stolen thumbnail and same deceitful ploy. Finally Yakomoga made a 23-minute tutorial for how to make the diamond using pure origami here: • How to Make Origami Di... which is well done and commendable but his method is extra complex and the bottom point doesn't close well. So I figured out what I feel is a better way to make it, and the bottom point closes completely without tape or glue. I even managed to fold it using translucent pearl plastic paper which I featured in the thumbnail and in the outro. I hope that this video will offer some closure to the viral origami scam that has roped up tens of millions of frustrated viewers and I feel has harmed the reputation of online origami videos. @@charliedulol It's literally common knowledge you can't fold a paper perfectly in half more than 7/8 times.

in half, not creases. origami is different from folding in half
Tip: if you have trouble with certain folds it might help to mark specific areas so that when you make the fold properly it creates a clearly visible line

You need to fold the almost straight lines across the paper, from one of the V-shaped lines (with a vertical line in the middle).

I gave up on origami because something happened 😭. But I’m thinking of getting back into it. And since I was pretty much Advanced before I quitted, this actually doesn’t look too hard for me. Just a lot of creases that I need to be careful about. That’s all
Thank you for the fascinating tutorial. I haven't done any origami for over forty years, but this kind of "magic" makes me want to dig out some paper squares again. I agree that a complete diamond would be a phenomenal gift; I only wish I knew someone who could appreciate something so lovely.

Boy, that last tuck is a doozy!! But after my 4th attempt, I think I've got it down, and I have some tips. First, if you choose in advance which section to use for the final flap, before you start collapsing the model you have more access and can easily fold those creases back and forth to make them really bidirectional. Then, a long, thin poker with a blunt tip can be very useful to puff things out from the inside, and clean up any creases that need attention. (I have a thin knitting needle for this purpose, but a wooden kitchen match would also work.)
Once I became familiar with the crease pattern, I decided to do all my folds one at a time on the flat sheet. This took more time, but I was able to make my creases much more accurately. Also, I folded the long radial creases only as far in as necessary, leaving the central octagon creaseless. That makes the face of the finished diamond stiffer, and helped me avoid wearing a hole in the middle from all the squash folds.

The REAL origami diamond because artists usually don’t use tape
it's not origami if you use tape, cut or tear any of the paper, or use more than one piece.
Do those things and it's just papercraft, which can totally be cool too, but it's not origami.
And glue but its ok to cut paper to size like 6 inch by 6 inch
you should make a video on how you make custom models cuz I would love making things like this on my own

It just dawned upon me that these are essentially just low poly models in real life. Weird how that checks out
As for the model Ingot close on a few trys but never finished them. I cannot find the type of paper you used so I'm using Construction Paper. Its very tough paper on folding and creasing which is kind of why its already a challenge upon a challenge of all this folding just to make a low poly diamond lol
I just need to make 6 more of these in different colours and all my dreams will come true
