    I do something similar. My husband gets paid every two weeks. I separate the bills into two paychecks.
    So the Fridays that he gets paid I just have to open my notebook, sit in front the computer and pay online everything that's for that paycheck. Very simple.

    Great video! Being now 36, there's more and more that needs to be managed and I'm an old school kinda of girl. Cool how we have pretty much the same system. My frds all laugh that I'm not jumping on the electronic bandwagon. You should see my to do lists, they get pretty long and it literally gives me such gratification when I cross things off. Paper and pen all the way!

    • @GradysMom

    Gotta love simple, effective methods! I did the written bill pay/budget for about 6 years until last year we starting doing it in Google Sheets (Google's version of Excel). Actually, we do our entire budget in google sheets with bills, groceries, gas, etc for every pay period. My husband is in IT though and he thoroughly enjoys playing with it and making it easier for us (links to the website we pay on, etc). But that's just what works for us! I still love old school too! :)

    I do something similar. Hubby gets paid twice a month so I just break everything down based on what is owed for that pay period. That way I know what is left over for groceries, gas, etc. I don't do dates since I pay everything electronically as soon as we get paid but I might start making the due dates just so I know.

    lets say rent is 1000 a month due on the first. is it better to take money from each pay check throughout the month? so lets say 250 from 4 paychecks then pay it? or is it best to maybe split the 1,000 inbetween just two pay checks at the end of the month then pay it????

      HI thanks! Honestly I didn't even think to--this video was filmed a long time ago. We spend about $500/mo on gas. My husband commutes 40-50 miles each way to work M-F. We also live a bit rurally, so it takes some driving to get to places we frequent. We spend $600 ish a month on groceries/household supplies. And misc varies from month to month.

    do you use your credit card every month or is it for special occasions. Since you pay it off in full which is AWESOME by the way, do you budget for that payment or do you use money from savings to pay it off? Also, i am in the hunt for a great credit card with perks. can you do a video on the types of cards you have and if they have any good cash back rewards/rates. etc?

    • @GradysMom
      @GradysMom  Před 9 lety +1

      J GAMING Hi! We don't use our credit card every month. We used to do that for years and it ended up resulting in quite a bit of credit card debt. We actually paid off all of our credit card debts when we sold our house in NY last year. Otherwise if we hadn't done that we'd probably still have some cc debt now. We use it for our family vacation each year, sometimes at Christmas, & when we travel to New York to see our family. For the past year we've been paying it off in full, but previously years back we were not able to always pay it off in full. Sometimes we budget for paying it off in full & sometimes we take it from our savings to pay it. It varies depending on the amount we need to pay off. I'm not really one for perks or rewards programs on credit cards, so I'm not the best person to make a video on that. However I will say I have had credit cards for many years & I really like Discover cards for their low rates and American Express as well (also their low rates) I know rates do vary based on certain factors but we've had really good luck with Amex & Discover cards. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
