In this video I demonstrate how to clear the BIOS password on a Lenovo ThinkPad T480 using a CH341A USB BIOS Programmer.

I used Asprogrammer first and it failed at erase(with nearest chip) and I bricked my bios. When connected back no life. Because the programmer still detected the chip it was not cooked (you can right it million times) - then I used Neo programmer to detect it, as long it can detect the chip it will able to erase, right and verify. T470s is all working!

Thank You a lot!,I bougth a 2nd hand T480 with SV Pass, i really need to reset all settings and turn off antithrief service. your video helped me a lot. By the way, it's way better and secure using soldered bios than clamp. when you patch the bios file no need CMD, only drag the bios file to the patcher python app.

I haven't seen it done on a X1 Carbon 8th Gen, but I guess it would be worth trying.

I am about to follow your tutorial to the letter and therefore buy the USB BIOS Programmer. My T480 has a W25Q128JVSQ chip and on Amazon there are many USB BIOS Programmer models that are not indicated as compatible to work on this Winbond chip model (at least it is not listed)... should I try anyway or should I find another compatible USB module ?
You can go ahead and buy it. I believe it will work well so long as you are using asprogrammer for reading and writing to the chip.

Is installing a blank hard disk necessary or I can just disconnect the hard disk with OS and it will work?
It's necessary since the laptop boots to Windows automatically without it.
But can i try not using any hard disk and it will work because i did not have an extra hard disk or i should just use the one on it and format it after removing the password @@aoeaster
Yes, it would still work without a hard disk installed.
One question, when you are compiling epramer, do you remove the board stack or keep it?
The board remains intact during the process.

Would you happen to have a bios file for t470 and thunderbolt bios type 20jn I did backups but they both seem corrupt the machine now does not post. the power button lights for 1 second and then nothing, the fan spins off and on a few times then stop

Try adjusting the clip of the CH341 BIOS Programmer or running the program as Administrator

There might be an error in the command typed. Check and verify the command, including the cases (lower and upper cases). Hope that helps.

You can take a look at your chip with either a magnifying glass or your phone camera zoomed in.

@@stone-t3r greetings: i just successfully used autopatcher - i had the same issue as mentioned - Asprogrammer never could find the bios. I needed to use the neopatcher programmer to identify the winbond (w25q128jvsq 1832). i flashed using the ch341a flasher. getting the clip on the bios chip takes practice... be patient! make sure you have at least two bios backups and that you have confirmed the hash as demonstrated in this video. Thanks so much @aoeaster

Thank you the system as been revive but wholeness patching it so that I can remove the password it was showing error
When running the servitude command which end with mds to check if the two files produce the same ach value I brings out error but if I did not put mds at the end of the code it show that they have the same value
But the patching process is not working
I don't know if it is the patcher that is not working
why not show the working ones first😂

What was the voltage used on the bios chip I want to make sure I don’t fry mine
I went with the default voltage. It's the voltage supplied by the USB port on the laptop.
