I saw Commander Cody play at the University of Michigan Student Union in 1969-70 with Bill Kirchen playing guitar. We just liked the sound and had no idea we were seeing "classic" rock & country.

When I got down to seeds and stems I would start scraping that resin out of that old stem pipe back in 73. Shit I'm an old bastard now.

Lived in Colorado in the seventies...these guys, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Little Feat, Redbone, Poco, the Eagles and others did the country rock scene pretty damn well.

I worked for Rick Higgenbottom and the Ozone road crew, hauling their band equipment around ... It was hot in the old days, I was 18 and got quite an education ..

Whatta blast from the past! I only saw the Commander once with the original LPA crew back in 1970. We were goofing around Boston one evening in the Back Bay and came across this incredibly great sound coming from one of the night clubs (Passims?). Anyways, we had to check that band out and we were treated to one of the really great, tight bands that came out of that era. It's a shame digital recording was about 40 years too late to get the music of that era in it's youthful glory....

@gunslinger5854 Man, I remember when I was in college back in the late 70s and first heard CC and his LPA sing "Everybodys Doin' It" in my dorm room, I just absolutly laughed my ass off! In Albuquerque, The University of New Mexico's NPR radio station KUNM was legendary for pushing the envelope with such songs and formats. The Assylum Show on Friday nights with DJ "Malachai Mudgong" was legendary, and played lots of CC / LPA, and other "questionable" songs. .

Some one toke stuff ya know . Did second hit nothing ... people acting high off it . I don't think they even know what high is .
