  • In an interview with FRANCE 24 on tensions in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia's foreign minister said his country was "concerned" about a regional war. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said he feared that "the longer the conflict in Gaza goes on, the more danger there is for miscalculation, the more danger there is for escalation". But the top Saudi diplomat also sounded a note of optimism, saying "I don't believe that the Iranians want a broader war".

He Saudi foreign minister is a knowable man, with logical views. But if we beat the drum of Palestinian State, we should recall the past. Our memory may fade away with the passage of time. But since 1994, two state solution materialized and Palestine’s flag has raised everywhere. The State of Palestine has been recognized by 139 member states at the United Nations. Palestinian embassies were opened, Palestinian currency was established, new president was elected and foreign aid and donation were flown to Palestine. UN agencies spent nearly $6 billion in Gaza and tens of billions in West Bank in their useless projects. But Palestine divided into two parts as a disconnected society in limbo. Palestinian per capita has never been over $3000 per year. Palestinians are generally radicalized and brainwashed by Hamas, Islamic Jihad, UN agencies and the Iranian mullahs. What is the point of having a new Palestinian leadership and Palestinian government if Palestinian is a failed state for decades?

I appreciate the explanation of the Saudi foreign minister, both for his excellent level of articulation and for the information and detail he provided through the content of his communication, however it was notable that he failed to mention Hamas by their name.
This is a trend that I've seen with pro-Palestinian figures, and it only serves to damage their credibility.
On the same token, those who are pro-Israel must denounce Netanyahu and his far-right cabinet as they are showing a gross disregard for civilian safety in their pursuit of the elimination of Hamas, and, with all due respect to the Palestinian community and their basic human rights, this approach from Israel is a stain on the broader international community, to say the least.
