Come cruise with me on board the Carnival Splendor as we travel to New Zealand for some autumn cruising. To begin, we are stopping in at Christchurch. Today, we are exploring on foot, stopping in at the Christchurch botanic Garden, the Earthquake Memorial, New Regent street and the River Market for a yummy beverage and lunch. The second day, our stop was Wellington. We started off by hopping on the cable car and wandering through the cable car museum and botanic gardens. We wander down to Cuba Street and have lunch at a local micro brewery, Fork and Brewer. Our final days are at sea, ready for our trip home.

how far from the ship was the cable car is it a easy walk
Super short! There is a free bus that takes you into town and the cable car is right there.

were there any tours for the hobbiton sites how can i find out what else is in these cities , i dont like to wander through gardens like botanic gardens
There was. But the day trips to them were too long. You would be gone the whole day and need to get straight on the boat and leave, so I didn't bother with it.
