Raising of the Galero of His Eminence Rufino J. Cardinal Santos (3 September 2018)

It was a very prayerful experience to witness the raising of the galero in honor of the first Filipino cardinal of the Holy Roman Church, His Eminence Rufino J. Cardinal Santos in a mass presided by his successor, Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle on his 45th death anniversary at the Manila Cathedral. It was a posthumous honor and tribute to the man who, in his initiative, spearheaded the rebuilding of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Manila which was badly destroyed during the Second Word War.
Cardinal Santos was the Archbishop of Manila from February 10, 1953 until September 3, 1973. He was elevated to the cardinalate by His Holiness Pope John XXIII at the consistory of March 28, 1960 in St. Peter's Basilica.
