What happened to Laurent Bernier? He was the main director of FC3 and suddenly went out of the picture. Only letting Patrick Methe pick up the franchise where it was left off.
Another thing that bothered me was that the whole man vs nature of the games is GONE! Before you truly did have to try and survive in the wilderness that you were put in. 5 there are little to no threats in the wild that actually pose a challenge. Anyone else remember the fear in FC3 when you heard a tiger nearby? Not only that but the removal of the crafting which really emphasised the man vs nature theme. Sadly after the Ubisoft forward it looks like we're seeing another silent protagonist and no man vs nature themes in FC6.
Y'know, back when I first watched this vid, I gotta admit that I disagreed with almost everything you said. But after replaying the previous titles, and watching this again after more than a year later, yeah. I understand your position regarding this game. This is actually a well thought out and well-made video. Keep up the good work!
But sadly, toxic little children, and immature people that don't even watch a fucking video before commenting some retarded stuff, auto dislike the crap out of this game, and don't appreciate the hard work put into it. Like, I saw a comment complaining the video was too long? Tf? You're going to complain that someone took their time and made a well edited 30 min video? I fucking can't with the kids
I actually like that change. It was an eye roller in FC4 to see the same old animations and the same old knifes. (Hell even Primal had pretty similar ones)
Renn said in another comment that when he was critiquing the music, he just meant that one title screen song and admitted he wasn't clear enough about that.
As someone who played through on the hardest possible difficulty, I’ll just say that the gameplay is still very easy if you use stealth and the story battles just feel even more grindy.
When you get drugged and kidnapped at multiple points just takes me straight out of the game. I can't tell you how many times I decided to play it again only to realize I stopped playing it because I was stuck in the shoot-house mission and immediately turned it off again.
I had it written in my script, one line "Primal was awful" glazed over it I guess, oh well, pretty minimal mistake if you ask me. We should all forget primal honestly.
No crafting No showing of skin when you skin animals No knife as a melee weapon No spiritual missions No syringes No commentary from the protagonist No alligators... I want to hate this game
No weather, no wounds when hit. No facial expressions when npcs die. Bad physics (Ragdoll) in all Ubishit games. The main character is dumb. No character shadows 3/10 for a AAA 'GAME' 2018
When I first played 5 I thought it was great, had not played a Farcry game since the third one which I didn't remember that well. Beat 5 said, "huh... that was pretty fun!" Replayed through Farcry 3 and said, "What was I doing?"
@Ray George Healing is also extremely boring, instead of having to heal yourself in the midst of battle, you could just hide behind cover and heal back up to full without doing anything.
Exactly! Farcry was one of my favorite game till 4th part, but when I played Farcry 5, I just lost interest, literally uninstalled it after playing forcefully for 3-4 Hours, I must have died for 6-7 times. One of the most important thing - a good progressive gameplay, Farcry 5 lacks it, but 3 and 4 has that quality, also it looks graphically appealing and very optimized for PC, but if looks so boring due to repetetive invironments, everything looks same... Farcry 5 is a big letdown for me, it doesn't have that disruption quality compared to Farcry 1, 2, 3 & somewhat 4 😢
What really killed this game for me was the fact that you couldn't use the animal skins to make stuff. If you can't do that in a Far Cry game, then what's the point of having wild animals roaming around besides making the world feel alive? Sure, you can still sell animal skins for money, but what the hell do you need money for when you get plenty of that from the crappy side missions? You can kill animals for their skins in almost every open world game. And the story isn't anywhere near as interesting as the ones in the earlier Far Cry games. And I absolutely hate the fact that they give you a completely silent protagonist. At least FC 3 and 4 gave you a protagonist with some sort of character. I just didn't really think it added much to the series.
Agreed, agreed, agreed, agreed. The story sucks, and the silent protagonist makes it even worse--you don't have a character, so there's really no story, just a series of events. There's no reason for you to be doing any of the stuff you're doing. Giving in to the assholes who whined about a college kid being able to become a great soldier was a big mistake; there might be a reason for a civilian to join a local revolution and start killing, but there is NO reason for a law enforcement officer to do so. A LEO's goal would be to get out of the county and contact higher authorities, not to encourage civilians to risk their lives and take the lives of other civilians. (Not to mention that the idea that this cult has been operating in the open like this for so long without the National Guard showing up is ridiculous.) The story is completely un-engaging, and not remotely fun. And I too miss the crafting, especially the ability to quickly be able to carry more weapons and ammo. Being limited to three weapons (one of them a shitty handgun) for so long just sucked.
lisa7525 To each their own, a lot of things in old games was annoying, such as the crafting system. I didn’t like that I was FORCED to go hunting. This game lets you do what you want when you want. And this guys review of the game is pretty bad. You can explore every inch of this world the way you want. And the AI is pretty good, with small issues such as pathfinding. I have very few issues with this game.
you forgot to talk about the medkit animation from other games in the franchise, i now it's something very minimal but somehow for me it was a huge letdown :(
Its actually pretty fucking annoying, thats why they put an option to disable it in fc4, and now its 100% gone. Especially when you try 100% completion
Im from New Jersey, east coast of the U.S. and i personally love the montana setting. Its very familiar and fun to me, because the states up north share the same aesthetic of hope county. Ive been up in Vermont and and New York and its a lot like if i were fighting a cult up there. The small towns, cabins, cottages, the hiking trails. I find the chaos in this setting to feel pretty rad.
@@TANKCHANCHAN I dont think the criticism was actually the location but instead what they did with said location. Overall it's just kinda dull. It looks great graphically speaking but in terms of style and flair there really isnt much to offer. Like he said, trees and mountains.
@@hopefulromantic. because a tropical island is more interesting than normal trees and mountains. Most people dont live anywhere near those things so it's more interesting. And even then far cry 3 had a bunch of really interesting locations like ancient temples for example.
You completely nailed it! Worst moment for me was, when I had to free the pastor which was completely free the second before and just rescued me. I didn't even had to free the second hostage nor to kill the enemy plane to free the town...
@@alexandermct8655 You understand that viewing something like a joke as clever and half assed is also subjective, right? What you consider clever is not what everyone considers clever.
18:40 - I agree with almost everything in this video except this bit. The repeating of the obstacle course is literally the point, not lazy design. It's the only part of the game that I thought was actually interesting. The intention here was to condition the player into completing the course on autopilot; you know where the enemies will be, you know what weapons you'll use in each 'room', you don't even think about what it is you're actually doing. You're being led into thinking, after the third repetition, that it's yet again another shooting gallery before the pay off that it was all the trick. You run around the final corner to take out the last guy you know is stood right there because that's where he's been the previous three run throughs. Changing the course between repetitions would completely remove the element of autopilot you're being trained for.
Far Cry 4 innovated enough for me to where I still enjoyed it. It wasn't as innovative or original as 3 but it was fun for a time. Adding the grappling hook, shooting while driving, vehicle takedowns, legitimate co-op, etc. Far Cry 5 hardly made any innovations. They could've added the ability so shoot while climbing, or while swinging from your grappling hook that's attached to your buddy's helicopter. They could've added co-op takedowns and a bunch of other cool game mechanics. But no. We got character customization and a bunch of lame DLC. Meh...
The whole thing of forcing you back into the main story stuff was one of the things that i hated about 5, 3 and 4 lets you go at your own pace and lets you do other things without being thrown back into the main objective automatically.
@@buffkangaroodog the villians capture the player way too much to the point where it is completely stupid. They have working guns and just choose not to kill the player. That wouldn't be too bad if they didn't capture the player 10 times throughout the game.
@@rascoehunter3608 they aren't trying to kill the mc, they're trying to convert or brainwash him, faith tried to manipulate you into the cult, john was told he couldnt kill you, and jacob was making you into a brainwashed killer.
Excuse me? Far cry 3 and 4 let you go on your own pace? Ohh yes because i totally wanted to do forced stealth for 60% of far cry 3 sacrificing my play style for the sake of narrative Or having to wait 80% of the game been done to explore the other island and other half of Kyrat If not fc5 is way more open ended than both of those We can go in every region since start, do almost everything since the start and also play with different guns without having to sluggishly wait the narrative progress.
Farcry 4 was actually the best, everyone says it's been going down hill since 3 but in 4 we had a multi-narrative structure where you can side with either Amita or Sabal throughout and you can save or kill pagan at the end plus the easteregg prologue ending and the two golden path endings. So we got like 5 endings there and you can make other choices throughout the story. FC5 goes back to 3 where it's a linear story in a open world where we have 2 choices at the end and 1 at the begining that's it. FC4 was almost a Farcry RPG, but 5 is dumbed down. However the map editor is the best it's ever been hands down.
I agree, FC4 was the best. It had a better, more solid story throughout the whole experience than 3. The only thing people bring up from Far Cry 3's story is Vas. And while he's a really good villain, hes really just a lakey to the main baddy like Paul and Luma were. Basically Vas just stole the show from the rest of the story, and besides him and Willis (and maybe Citra) all the other characters are insufferable. Including Jason, the protagonist. I personally thought that Pagan was a way better antagonist than Vas, but maybe thats because I liked his personality so much I didn't off him at the end of the game. We also got more weapons, activities, and the adition of strongholds. We got mechanical imorovements, like being able to kick. And like you said, we got a more dynamic story. But I wouldn't call it and RPG. If we're going to classify a game as an RPG if it lets you make a few choices or actions that impact the ending, then Black Ops 2 is an RPG.
You are right far cry 4 was a great beautiful gorgeous game and i loved it, Pagan was amazing and Troy Baker did a fantastic job but I liked Vaas the best though in far cry 4 i dont like Amita. Sabal was cool but i feel their character written was weak in the end, suddenly they become baddies without more depth explanation. Amita was annoying at times for me im sorry. Lol
FC4 had a brilliant and fun "secret" beginning/ending that was cute because you actually had to work to get it to happen (you had to wait 15 REAL minutes) and it impacted the game very little. Pagan even lampoons the whole ending by saying, "Now, lets shoot some guns!" in a double entendre for what the characters were probably going to do next and for the player who was probably just going to start the game over and actually start playing the game. By contrast, FC5 gives you an immediate choice that lets you end a first person shooter (that you just paid $50 for) without firing a shot or choose to play 40 hours and then experience one of 2 stupid endings with the moral "if you hadn't resisted, everything would have been just fine". That "moral" is an insult to the players in that its is both ingenuine from the antagonists (because, given the way they were behaving, they would have eventually done every horrible thing to your friends that they said was your fault because you resisted) and condescending from the developers (its obvious that the stories are "rigged" because the choices you make somehow transcends to world events that a story's character should not be able to affect). The truth is, FC5's story seems to created by devs who hate Far Cry and Far Cry players even more.
I played the game start to finish which is about 48 hours but I had experienced no jank except one time I managed to get my truck stuck between two boulders. Call me crazy but I was more engaged with this story than I ever was with Farcry 3 or 4 mainly because it felt that I was fighting for something and I could actually see it in subtle things like how enemy patrols stopped popping up once you liberated the area. Also yes the areas weren't visually diverse but each one had a different atmosphere : John's felt lively because that's where the resistance was strongest, Faith's felt a lot more somber due to the bliss and Jacob's felt like the middle of a war zone as an extension of his character. You mention how there's only 4 enemy types in the game, but that's how it was in every Farcry game now (whether or not this game should be held to a different standard because it's the latest is an argument whether or not you believe it's valid) and in this game specifically it felt satisfying to gun them down because of how good the guns are. The game also does away with all the monotonous things in the series, I played Farcry 3 to completion and beat Farcry 4 and nothing was more boring than running around in an area for 45 mins looking for those last five animals you needed so you can upgrade your syringe pouch, or how you climb one tower and then get bombarded by icons. Instead the game just let's you explore things dynamically and discover side quests and outposts on your own which to me was really immersive, organic and fun. The followers were also enjoyable since they banter with you and each other ( as long as you know they're not animals) and when I used them they weren't as indestructible or stupid as you made them out to be in your video, now granted I can't speak for your experience but when I would send in the bear it would take like 45 seconds before it got gunned down and I needed to revive it. There's a lot more I want to talk about but this comment is already long enough. I love video games a lot, I care about this industry immensely but it just sometimes seems that there's a lot of abject cynicism towards any new game lately. And I don't mean that we should just shovel shit developers shove down our throats and do it with a smile, but can we no longer enjoy a good game, and this game is good and just that good, it's no masterpiece but calling it below average when there are games like metal gear survive that are many orders of magnitude worse than it is just baffling to me.
Diego Mauricio Gomez Renn is very bias, saying exaggerating minor mistakes or problems and making them sound like it's the biggest mistake of 2018. Let's not mention that at the beginning he complains that he has to have his partner kill people, then complains that he has to kill people near the end, he needs to make up his mind.
But a lot what he says is also heavily opinionated and based on experience too and most of the issues aren't as bad as he makes them out to be. The enemy types in 3 were just the same as in 5 except they were spread into more " types" for example the flame thrower enemy would be tagged as a flame thrower type in 3 but in 5 he's just gets tagged as a heavy
I hated Metal Gear Survive so much I took it back after maybe 3 hours of gameplay. At least FC5 (haven't played it yet) seems to be trying to let us have FUN.
Fady Medhat some opinions, but more of them are facts and some true stuff, and the enemy types are less than fc 4 or 3, btw heavily armed = flamethrower guy
My biggest complaint with FC5 (a game I liked for the most part, but seeing as I am a fan of the series, maybe I am biased) was the resistance meter. I found it way too easy to fill up the resistance meter by only doing a handful of missions. This took away from the story and made the villains seem like no threat at all. For example. Jacob's region has 10k resistance points. There are quite a few missions that reward you with 900RP. That's nearly 10% of the resistance meter earned by one mission. This also leaves little incentive to do side missions (aside from money). I liberated each region in less than three hours a piece. The story just felt rushed this way. The second area where the game lacks is with takedowns. That has been a staple of the FC series. Far Cry 5s takedowns just don't feel as satisfying as 3 and 4.
Just recently bought this on sale after playing through far cry 3, 4, and primal. I literally could not make it through more than an hour of this game before I had to stop.
75% of the side missions in 15 hours? Unless you play on easy mode, and are able to one-shot each enemy, I seriously doubt you're completing it that quickly.
at that point in time, during that mission, I had 15 hours play time, I played much more than 15 hours overall, check my xbox account if you really want to.
If you watched the video he said, "my main mode of transport is helecopter" if you knew how quick it is to travel the map the entire game with a helicopter you would know that's completely possible. In fact I'm surprised he didn't do it faster. Lol
+beachbeans I've been playin the game and loving it. looking at his gameplay it looks exactly like easy mode..... because its fucking easy. Normal and hard mode you get your ask kicked.
Playing this game on hard mode is the way to go. Easy is just too forgiving with the mediocre aim assist. If you want a challenge play on hard mode nuff' said
now the things i hated with this game that made me rage more than any enemy ever had ziplining means pressing space i am used to holding from all the other farcry games so i kept falling to my death because i held the button parachute deploys after you hold it i am used to it deploying instantly so i kept falling to my death over and over again using the glider you are automatically holding w as you are running so when you deploy the glider you are still holding w and well you crash straight into the ground or into a tree as you are not prepared for it to fall straight down approaching a ladder triggers a painfully slow animation so when you have 40 enemies trying to kill you and you approach the ladder your character will slowly try to enter it while getting killed i died the most from these things and nothing else
@@PanagiotisPolyzois It's very obvious that you haven't played the other games enough to develop a muscle memory of the games ALREADY CONCRETE CONTROLS THAT HAD NO REASON TO BE CHANGED.
You're totally right! I remember unlocking the wingsuit in FC3 with the mission where this American spy takes you on a plane to hunt down Hoyt Volker on the northern island. Now on this new island fighting a harder enemy because they have better guns, armor, gear and ordonnance weaponry. A challenge was felt all the way through, and if I'm correct. Hoyt's PMCs were just a little better AI because Va'as gang was just a bunch of pirates. More savage combat style perhaps, but still less combat intelligence which means they don't really know how to team play and be organized in combat. But the PMCs to me we're a real challenge. Felt like they were trying to flank me in small teams to catch me off guard and caused me to re-think my whole plan. Also, I remember that one time we're this PMC tried to lure me into a group of his teammates to ambush me. FC3 was just one of the best Far Cry in the whole history, and of course. I'm a huge fan of the original Far Cry's with Jack Carver. The very best one before FC3.
the AI between pirates and Hoyt's PMC's was the same, they were however slightly stronger meaning fights took longer so you got to see more of how the AI behaved in combat which both made fights more challenging but, also presented you with more time to see their issues. the only enemies I've ever struggled with in a FC game were the hunters in 4, those mofos and their arrows can be brutal especially early on when you have like two bars of health.
I really enjoyed this game I played it with my friends and we had a good time. Even if I disagree with the review, I can say that this review was very well done and it really shows that you put work into your videos
all the bugs and terrible AI in this game is what makes the game the best far cry. Co-op was god teir. Everytime I'd play co-op with my friend I'd always laugh.
Was wondering where that intro was going... So like with a lot of AAA games today I feel like these huge budgets are going towards market and focus groups more than anything. That is blatantly apparent with not only this game but with others you've reviewed (DR4 being the most notable and spectacular failure) so that's honestly where I think all those millions went into instead of being put into making a solid game.
I just cracked the game, i knew this was going to be shit. And it was, i uninstalled it after about 2 hours. I don't want that shit even for free, it was just so lame, walking around killing random dudes that offer literally no challenge every 100m
Upping the game's difficulty only makes them deal more damage and have more hp, but they keep being dumb as fuck and acting in a way that doesn't make any sense. Their detection also doesn't improve, it's like they can only see a very small cone in front of them.... I just couldn't immerse myselft in that shitgame
@@recolinotyu I think the same thing, there's random events, angels and enemy vehicles passing every fucking 3 meters, that doesn't make the world feel realistic, it does the exact opposite. Plus as you said the ai is D U M B and selecting the hard difficulty just makes em deal more damage, it's awful. A friend lent me this game and it can't even be compared to FC3 and 4. Hell even FC2 has more positives than this game maybe
You don't need to do impressions/voices, your regular voice is fine; your editing it also on point in a few places; I'd say quite a few of your dislikes are coming from that awful intro, the rest of the video is great.
Joe Somebody I saw this intro a week after I bought Farcry 5 last year and now I'm rewatching it and it's just as hilarious. I don't know what it is about Renn but certain parts of his videos are comedy gold
He spent a bit too long on it and it and it wasn't _that_ funny. I think there are other reasons though. My play though of Far Cry 5, while a bit repetitive in places, was nowhere near as easy as he's describing on a fair few of the missions, on hard difficulty. I played it on pc so his auto aim complaints don't apply (although I would have thought there'd be an option to disable it if you want a challenge? Was there not?) However, on hard difficulty, if you run into an objective like you're invincible, it only takes around 3-4 hits to kill you, which I believe is the right way to play the game. You have to understand that they're also targeting these games to a wide audience, so you have to create your own difficulty by not choosing the most overpowered weapons and easy settings. The enemy AI could have been better, it also would've made harder difficulty settings very ruthless. There's also new game+ which I haven't tried as of yet but offers a veteran difficulty. Also the companions are not a terrible addition, they can make hunting less of a chore for example and provide a sense of not being alone. Relying on them to kill most of your enemies was not the intended purpose the way I perceive it. They don't have a high kill rate. If you're playing as intended then you'd be killing probably 4 for every 1 they kill. While they can be annoying and I chose not to use them in places due to them blowing my cover, I wouldn't mind them being in the next game because I had some entertaining moments with them and I get that it makes the game more accessible to some people. Again, choosing to have a cougar and bear is choosing the easy route and it's not a bad thing that this game allows a wide variety of play styles. His criticism on the challenges is not entirely accurate. I wish there were more of them, for different kinds of things, but having challenges for kills with each weapon is encouraging a variety of play styles. If you're always rushing in then making you get 30 kills with the sniper rifle means you taking a more tactical play style. Also the challenges for kills with companions are only up to like 10 kills max. If you play the game semi normally and just make a point of assigning them to an enemy every so often rather than standing there waiting, it shouldn't take more than a mission or 2 at most to get the kills needed. I really don't see the problem with that aspect although the system could have been a little more fleshed out and had more challenges depending on the companion type, that I agree with. None of this is to say he doesn't have some really good points as he's clearly a fan the series, but I think a lot of the dislikes also come from people who played the game disagreeing over trivial things he's not putting thought into like hating entirely on companions when a lot of people didn't mind them and not thinking about the deeper point of them making the more game accessible to a proportion of the viewers, think casual gamers. Things they didn't add in an obnoxious way and didn't deserve such a grilling. I've only watched half the video so far but I can say that much.
hey! i saw that you used clockner's Footage for the FC3 and FC4 takedowns in the beginning. it would have been nice to see a link to his channel or just something to show that it was his footage.
Look I’m a simple man, i praise games that don’t include a political agenda, that alone makes far cry 5 worth 60 bucks because they don’t shove WHAT GENDER PRONOUNS SHOUD I USE! AIN’T THAT RIGHT BIOWARE
To me, in a lot of respects, FC5 is actually better than its predecessors. 1. There is Co-op, which I wanted ever since I started playing far cry. It's totally sh*t when it comes to progression, but still, better sh*t coop than no coop. 2. The Setting, to someone who doesn't live in the US, is actually rather fun and refreshing. 3. Characters, In past Far Cry games, It was mostly about the villain. This time, I liked the good guys just as much as the villains, that's a plus. 4. Number of vehicles and modes of transport. Planes especially are pretty fun, even if rather slow. and yeah, you could argue that they are OP as hell, but this game was much more about giving you ridiculous options, rather than focusing on skill. 5. Prepper hideouts are probably the best locations you can find in the Far cry series, they are consistently fun and pretty inventive. Yeah, many of the points in the review are valid, and the game is veeery far from perfect, but people are sh*tting on it way too much.
Alright, removed my "dislike" again: - AI too simple: True - there's a lot to be improved. Remark - on the pc version, the AI was simple, but didn't have any of the bugs you showed - FC5 the worst: Disagree - you can't endlessly step up the same way. You can step up with what technology offers (and yes, they didn't really do that fully). - AI companion useless: Disagree - I loved having a nice girl driving me in a muscle car while I shoot out the window. But yes, it's ridiculously easy to take over all camps with just your binocular. - Empty world: somewhat true - wingsuit, transportation, they didn''t really use this potentially beautiful world like in FC4 - Helicopters overpowered: yes and no - Finally there are capable helicopters which throw a punch, but, they would need a better counterpart, maybe SAM sites you have to clear first or you have to fly like an ace to not get shot down, and if you got the skills, then there is no reason why you shouldn't enjoy the fireworks. - Best weapon in 45mins: True, it was too fast to get to the best stuff there. More grinding to earn the power would be more fitting. In FC4 you had to work quite a bit for the MG42 - Hunting animals let down: yes and no - I'm an actual hunter, and FC5 did a good job with that. But the grinding for success, way better in FC4 - monotone environment: true, unfortunately. The quality convinced me, rivers, mountains, which I actually like, but no diversity in the entire game... if you can come up with a few easy examples, they should have as well. Your point about animal attacks in a straight line: Disagree - Those animals in the game, which come at you in a straight line, do the same in real life !! And the mountain lion does sneak rather impressively around positions in the game, just as in real life. This critique is not valid ! A wolf doesn't run zig-zag just 5m in front of you to avoid you shooting it, unless they're in a pack, and then it's still something else... ;-) To sum it up: The content of FC5 could have been far more engaging. They got rid of a lot of fun techniques from FC4, but no replacement, just a void. I still like the game, and there are people who liked the music (namely me), but the developers should know, if they cheap out of good fun content, people might stop buying... Now you get a "like", cause your effort here is actually constructive criticism. Cheers.
Play read dead 2 and than come back here. Everything this game did. red dead 2 did it sooooo much better. If you hunt a bear it legit fucks u up . You can wear bear hats. Fox hats. Beaver hats. Moose jackets. Whatever u hunt u can buy their materials in clothing. U acutally SKIN an animal. I pre ordered far cry 5. I pre ordered red dead 2. Fary cry 5 seems like a 2004 remastered game.
I just finished playing FC5, and I sadly have to agree with a lot of points you've mentioned. I think what bugged me the most though is how they introduce you to more of the main story (being drugged/hypno'd to the location). All 3 zones do this the exact same way (with minor variance), and all 3 zones have you escape/be let free, only to get captured a couple more times to progress the story further. All three zones just feels disjointed from one another, and rarely do I feel any of the games villians or story change, regardless of which zone is taken. Aside from Joseph pulling me off to a cutscene after every villians death to give me an eulogy towards the Seed member I killed, I see absolutely no recognition/acknowledgement in the other zones towards what I've cleared in the other two. The only thing I'd have to fully disagree with your review is the setting/environment. While FC3 and FC4 are more 'exotic' in terms of setting, I personally think that the visual environments aesthetics is more of a personal taste, rather than it being definitively good/bad. I personally enjoy more the montana wooded mountain setting, as it's not something I encounter as often.
Agree with everything you said in the review. Could not understand how so many other reviewers and the playing public could overlook so many faults. Felt like I was going mad
Holy shit I felt the exact same way. When this game came out 4 years ago I could not understand how so many people were enjoying the game, meanwhile I hated so many things about it. Felt like I was going crazy
@@jackiesimplejake I started the game 3 times each time promising myself "this is it. it's gonna click this time" barely got passed the 4 hour mark and it felt like ages
Guilherme Dal molin. Well that’s your opinion, in my opinion it’s one of the best, mostly because it has more strategy than ‘aim and shoot’ like every other far cry game, so in his opinion he probably thinks 5 is worse than primal.
I don't know about you, but FarCry Primal is just very basic when compared to the other games, you've pretty much always got to go stealthy because melee combat is so bad you've have pretty much no other options ,it also lacks the charm of the other games, though I gotta admit it does some things right, like the 'Buddy-System',still not as good as FarCry 3 or 4...
I remember back when each release of Far Cry had it's own unique world and environment which was actually fun and rewarding to explore for players, Far Cry 3 was a great example of how much potential Ubisoft was capable of. But now it seems like Ubisoft cares more about graphics than actual gameplay and now we get these empty soulless worlds with no interesting story "But hey at least we have good graphics!" Honestly it feels like graphics these days has become more of a crutch than a bonus for developer effort.
I think this game has so many supporters because people saw the Polygon article and thought this game was being attacked by the gaming media for not being political enough so they felt they had to support the game as a defense against SJW's. You know, CZcamsrs saw that article and ran with it since the outrage was great for views. Despite the fact that for PS4, Metacritic suggests that the game was received favorably by most critics with a respectable 81. And much less favorably by Metacritic users with a score if 6.8. That is actually a pretty big disparity. So no actual media conspiracy here. If anything media bias for the game. Just an average game. Look, compared to most 3rd party AAA endeavors these days I think Farcry 5 is fine... but not really great. And definitely not as good as Farcry 1-4.
How can Far Cry 1 stack up to any other Far Cry game? Whether or not you hate Far Cry 5 you literally can't say Far Cry 1 is better, that game is literally garbage in every aspect.
m bain How are you so dense that you don't realize how incredibly hypocritical you're being? Your defense of the first comment is that it's his opinion yet all the second commenter did was disagree, you actually told him to shut the fuck up. If you're such a champion of making everyone's opinion heard then telling someone to stfu for voicing theirs makes no sense since that directly goes against your entire point.
MS PAINT LIVE lol no doubt ,but i will say i played on hard and auto aim an tags turned off and the game isnt at all challenging at any point ..it needs another difficulty level lime expert which all the other fcs have had
Im trying it again with no aim assist or tagging ,no health perks at all (they were some of the last perks i got b4 though) but i did get em, no companions (i usually only ever had boomer anyway), no fast traveling ...trying to make it more of a challenge since they made this game for pussies apparently
i'm playing on hard mode and it somewhat feels easier than far cry 3 easy mode, while far cry 3 hardest mode was far easier than fc1 normal mode... this game is easy as hell, the auto aim on the ps4 is unfortunately somehow activated even when you deactivate it
I have several minor issues with the game but thats my biggest issue , i achieved the survival of the fittest for primal ( survivor mode on,expert difficulty, permadeath on ,100% completion ) and even without getting any health upgrades and on hard 5 it felt like wasnt made for true die hard far cry fans
I agree with everything you said here! This game is a complete step backwards from their more successful predecessors! From a long time fan of of the Far Cry serious I’m seriously disappointed. They have erased key features that a game such as this drastically needs. The main protagonists doesn’t have a voice or even a name for that matter, so you feel no connection to them whatsoever infact I feel more connected to my “Fang for hire” than my own character. They’ve stripped down the story line so it feels just thrown together and erased a mini map, which when free roaming is extremely helpful and essential for knowing what roads to take and other ways you need to travel. I think most people who support this game haven’t truly played the previous ones, and it’s a shame to see this game take such a leap backwards and neglect some of the long time Far Cry fans.
Ethan Parsons I played all of far cry games. I would say i really liked this game but i think it needed more creativity and i liked the idea a lot they did with the story but I feel it should have more depth. I think all 4 villians are amazing in this game but needed more creativity. For example I was quite let down by John's boss fight, it felt too easy.
The healing mechanic is what got me, no being able to heal yourself without medkits and regenerative health is a bore, having to walk slowly behind an ai who's walk pace is slower then yours and listen to them drone on about some badly who gets shot down in 5 bullets.
It's a shame because Montana a pretty great looking place but they made it just bland Yellowstone park for example why wasn't that in the game Edit: I think they problem was laziness not the location

I miss the days when gaming industry was relatively small and uncorrupted. It has turned into fashion industry where the new generation is clueless about the standards of previous titles, so they happily and willingly accept whatever is shoved into their...
I agree with all you said, but the mission where you repeat it 3 or 4 times, the reason it’s like this is to get you used to just running through and shooting everything, however at the end we straight up murder a good guy (his name escapes me). I liked that, it played with our head, just like Jacob was doing.
I also agree, almost all far Cry games involve the main character killing off massive amounts of evil people. This installment in the Far Cry series really made me think about what I had done in the end.
Gotta disagree here - on multiple levels. I just finished playing through 3 & 4 after beating 5. You sort of gloss over a bunch of details that don't fit your argument and overrate 3 and 4. 3 I get, as it had some really notable design choices, but 4? The gap in mechanics between 4 & 5 is much bigger than 3 & 4. I'll just use the helicopters as an example. You make it sound as if they are completely one dimensional - Except when the AI used them, I found them to be quite tough. If I didn't have the right gear or companion, taking one down was hard. You also skip over air vehicles when counting enemy types. Having AI divebomb you with planes is the most distinct enemy form in all of the games. And yes, Far Cry 5 did have 3 different 'biomes' or whatever. Mountains in the north, desert bluffs in the east, farmland in the west. The regions overall are more distinct than 4, as far as I can tell. Also, the prepper stashes are by far the best side quest variant in the entire series. Some of them were really well designed puzzles that fit very neatly into the game's theme and setting. Far Cry 5's weakest element by far was the constricted mission design of some of the encounters. Ubisoft spends years refining these interlocking game mechanics and then just throws them all away by forcing you to engage enemies head on. The boss fight with the pilot was the worst IMO. Just terrible. This is made worse by the fact some of them start without your prompting. That said, both 3 and 4 had similar missions. None of them are purely open world in the same way something like fallout is. You don't have to like Far Cry 5 - everyone has an opinion. But I see a bunch of value judgements stated as fact. Also, ebonics isn't a good look.
No... just no, air vehicles aren't any challenge. In FC5 the AI choppers fly low so you can just take them out with your demigod level grenade fastball or if out of range shoot the tail/pilot with an AR/LMG. Planes aren't any better either as they just fly around and do an occasional gun run where they fly extremely low and can easily be RPGed or have their pilot shot down. If being shot at, the pilot has no attempts to flee, do evasive maneuvers or bomb the immediate threat posed so its not challenging to fight. Prepper stashes are extremely boring and simple. Regain power to the door, open it and get a new gun, perk mags and sometimes escape the booby traps set. There's no challenge or difficulty in finding a circuit breaker or generator and proves to be just a filler element.
James Sawley The Prepper Stashes are fun! Don't know what you're talking about. One you're swinging around a bridge, another you are running through a burning bunker. You gotta slow down and enjoy the variety instead of looking over them.
obviously far cry 5 antagonist, joseph seed is not interesting, & not memorable like Vaas or Pagan Min, the mision & side mission itself a rehash from old mission from far cry 3 all over again.
Gunslinger SyayoRPG/CRPG I only played 4 and this but watched gameplay of 3 and he isn't as memorable as vaas but in 5 I like how there is 3 lieutenants
Another great video! thank you for being honest about experiences you have even though the community for various reasons doesn't agree with you when they probably should. keep up the nice effort!
I absolutely believe that the franchise peaked with the sub-trilogy of Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, and Far Cry Primal. In my opinion, those entries had the best gameplay mechanics, the best progression systems, the best side content & exploration, and the best stories and characters.
I remember getting this game due to the hype, and the narrative that they returned to a FC3 type of game, but yeah pretty much exactly as you say, it's buggy and easy, clearing a camp requires almost no skill, there's no reason to even disable the alarms. I did really like the part where you get brainwashed to go crazy whenever you hear that song, I feel like that part alone has some potential, but everything else was kinda meh.
I didnt agree with most of what you said, I really enjoyed the game and the world felt very lived in. Maybe im biased because Montana is my favorite state here. I noticed some differences between reigons such as johns being more farm land, jacobs being rocky and treacherous, and faiths being more flat land and hill based. The story engaged me but ill admit the ending fell a bit flat for me as im sure most will agree. But gameplay i agree can get a bit repetitive. But overall I really enjoyed this game. I respect your opinion.
i enjoyed the game too, but it was lacking some major gameplay value. For me at least, it was very repetitive, just getting a quest to go somewhere and kill something, I mean sure the prepper stashes were fun but add little to no value because you could get the best gun in the game as in as little as 45 minutes in. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience but it was really repetitive and made me glad to finish the game.
I strongly agree. It was all fun until the ending (I chose the resist option) and i was unsatisfied with how it turned out at the very end. I wish it was longer and there was more to do in the campaign. Like I started in John's region and that took a while but once I got to Faith's and had better gear, I felt like I cheesed through her and Jacob.
He's not wrong though when he says it's just mountains and trees. Look at Ghost Recon Wildlands it has so many different landscapes. Yes Bolivia is way more diverse than Montana but like he said they could've included a suburb or a swamp.
People are too lazy to create an actual argument or opinion. They rather copy "the meme of the week" to selfishly farm likes for no reason and call it a day.
@Java Monsoon Exactly Honestly im baffled by how many people criticized shit like quest design in this game While fc4 and 3 had such a bad quest design which forced you to a specific play style and made you progress in a very overly scripted way without much to do. Remember the forced stealth sections in fc3? Or every single drug mission in fc4? Far cry 5 is a true open ended game No forced play style upon the player, no annoying overly scripted quests 3 regions unlocked from start where you can go at your own pace and explore 3 different character arcs for the villains which makes the story well more fleshed out than past entries and you could also play its entirety in coop which actually made sense since you could create your own character To add to the game it also get rid of ubisoft towers so exploration actually matters and the roast of guns were actually different from past entries with shit like an Mp40 to play with, which is completely awesome (having a ww2 weapon in a far cry game is literally gunporn perfection) they also sound better, feel better to shoot as it has added bullet physics and are designed better (even tho some mirrored models still bugs me) The only things i can complain about this game is the horrible A.I that made the game way easier than it should and how we have to play new dawn for the conclusion
I didn't like five at first but it's starting to grow on me despite it missing a lot of things from the other games. I like that theirs a family of villians, and that you can go anywhere I think these were cool things to do. But anything good this game did needed more depth then what it got.
Personally, i love farcry 5 but i respect your opinion and i dont understand why everyone has to feel attacked because someones opinion differs from theirs. Edit: From "Farcry 5 is the worst in the series" to "Is Farcry 5 the worst in the series?" and now "Why Farcry 5 is a big step down for the series"... 10/10

Having waited patiently FC5 to be available on special, I'm late to the party here as I only finished it this morning - I hope somebody actually reads this. As a fan of the series, I found it enjoyable, but definitely agree that it was wildly overrated and in many ways dumbed down/overly streamlined. I found the mission diversity quite fun and satisfying, and enjoyed the music (except that intro/map tune, that did get tired). I also enjoyed that I didn't have to bother about separating crafting items from items I could sell. The world could have definitely done with more environmental variety - "mountains and trees" (+lakes/rivers/fields) sums up the bulk of it. Difficulty and resources in this game are totally out of whack - most missions are easy (I always play on "medium", which usually keeps me challenged). Also, from early in the game you're loaded up on most loot items, and I got thoroughly sick of being told "FULL" when trying to pick things up. Only a handful of times did I have to go do some hunting to be able to afford an ammo topup or medkits (fishing was moderately enjoyable at these times). As in previous iterations, once you've leveled up a bit and you can arm yourself with an LMG and sniper rifle, you're pretty much unstoppable - this is satisfying, but calls for better balance. The aircraft flying mechanics are too dumbed down and not very enjoyable, and I frequently found my wing suit wouldn't activate and I'd fall to my death when trying to use it. The ending is in the usual Far Cry mold, where you are left a little underwhelmed but with food for thought or questioning your decisions in the game. The biggest issue by far is that, whilst there is the promise of a strong plot, it is very poorly executed and with no sense of continuity. The sequence of cut-scenes and associated missions of the core story seem to be crudely overlaid with the rest of the world, to the point that you stop caring about them - especially the repetitious ones you get dragged into. For the first three quarters of the game, I found it to run quite well, but also encountered strange glitches and inconsistencies towards the end. This tells me it was rushed out the gate, and helps to explain some of the other lack of polish. The "Arcade" element was fun and with some well designed levels, but I can't say that I'm inclined to fire up the game again just for that - only one or two particular levels seem to have any sort of multiplayer audience. Previous installments in the series made me want to continue playing after the story missions were over, to finish all the outposts and side missions - not so with this one. I think they'll have to pull something quite different out of the hat for the next one - it has been interesting to watch this series evolve and I'm quite looking forward to what is in store next time around.
I do feel like you have fantasized Far Cry 4 and 3 a little too much. Far Cry 4's mission design I am very aware was awful, it really was. Just in future don't exaggerate quality, liked the video
compared to FC5, 4 is amazing, however not as good as 3, not very memorable apart from Pagan min, but at the very least it enhanced certain mechanics. I'm not fantasizing them - maybe a little bit with 3 since I really loved it when it came out, but when you stack them up against THIS game, they are fantastic. overall I thought 4 was "kinda good" but 5 made me appreciate it more.
The problem with Pagan Min isn't that he's a bad villain or anything, in fact he's pretty great, but he only shows up in the intro and then is pretty much gone for the whole game only to show up at the very end again, there's barely any interaction with the guy, unless you count the taunts he sends you over the radio or whatever every now and then but that's hardly comparable to something like Vaas for instance, which incidentally died 3/4s into his game to be substituted for a way worse villain, and Jason's "character arc" in 3 wasn't as good as you make it sound either but whatever, overall 3 was a pretty fun game since it was fresh at the time while 4 was less so considering it was pretty much 3 over again
@@Tardivex I agree with @Irina Rostkoko honestly. I liked that Pagan wasn't there a ton because when he did show up, when I did get to see him IRL, I got really excited. Given the premise of his character as hated king, it also makes sense that you only physically interact with him at the most important parts of the game: the beginning (to retrieve his beloved stepson), Durgesh (a completely secure location, also a turning point in the story which starts the second half of the campaign), and the end (when you overthrow him). Having him there every 2.5 seconds would have watered down the effect and been nonsensical. It makes sense for Vaas to be around more because he's much more immediately threatened by your presence. While Pagan is your weird, supportive uncle who wants to give you Kyrat anyway, Vaas is a king who has no desire to lose the power he has gained. He knows you're a real threat. Of course he's going to want to mess with you any chance he gets. Vaas' whole premise as down-and-dirty pirate lord allowed him to be written into more of the game, and although I loved him, it did sometimes get to a point where I was like, "seriously it's Vaas again? Is there really nobody else competent enough around here?"
Watched this entire video; This guy made absolutely spot-on and reasonable criticisms on this piece of shit game. I cannot fucking believe I put so many hours into this game only to end up not finishing the story and not having the desire to come back and finish the story at all; Guess it wouldn’t have mattered, anyway, since I realized it was a really fucking bland story, especially after seeing the endings on CZcams. Regardless, RennsReviews, this video earned a like from me. :) I’m just glad there’s good and legit games to look forward to in 2019. At least some developers know what they’re doing, unlike fucking Ubisoft. :/
Very funny far cry 5 is the best game in my opinion this CZcamsr is just full of nonsense if he doesn't like the game then why bother writing a review if other people wanna play it dont bother them
I got my new gpu a couple of days ago so i finally decided to try this game even just to see how good it looked. I played far cry 2-3-4 and i had a lot of fun, but this game felt so boring that i could not force myself into playing it for more than 1 hour. Im happy to see that im not alone, if you have played far cry 3 you can understand why this is so boring.
I am offended on a physical and emotional level I’ve agreed with pretty much everything you’ve said, but you CANT diss the soundtrack in this game. It is literally perfect
I love 5, despite its flaws. I'd say Primal is much worse. I honestly don't think it's objectively a bad game, but you're spot on about certain flaws such as the limited enemy types and sketchy AI Also we probably didn't need 4 different monologuing villains lol Either way, I came to this video expecting to hate on it, but I agreed with it more than I thought I would and found it to be a pretty good video. Still love the game though.
wanted to buy fc5 but don't know now after watching this video, I played fc4 and really liked it but do not want to buy it as it is old. do u recommend me buying fc5
This is late, I watched your whole video but for some reason I love this game. I have no points for this but I love this game and enjoy it. Love your vids though.
i agree with most of the things here but the music was truly incredible it was just amazing it was the best part of the game , the game was way too easy though i used jess black i have no idea why i would use anyone else just sit in the bushes snipe out anyone i have a clear view of because why not let her handle the rest she took them out one by one with ease, using a semi automatic sniper rifle made it impossible to want to use any other weapon just sit int he bushes snipe anyone i see after marking them, then when i got the heatseeking rocket launcher i could take out planes by just standing there, i thought it was hilarious when i was told the "chosen one" is out to hunt me "they don't mess around " epic music starts i see plane i aim 3 i prepare for my second aim because i assume the first one will fail then it just explodes, epic music starts then stops in a matter of 5 seconds, all i could like from this game is the story the ending was good to me it was unexpected many seems to have hated it but to me i was completely oblivious to it throughout the events i thought a thing like that could happen even listening to the radio broadcasts reminded me of fallout but then it turns out it did happen and that was something that blew me away unlike most other games, i never usually play games for the gameplay just the story and feel so i didn't care much about the lack of crafting i expected it i looked everywhere for it then i realized it's not even there i never gave it any thought.
When I was critiquing the music, I was really just referring to the one song in the menu, but apart from the clutch Nixon song, nothing else really stood out to me, music was just kinda background noise for me, but I wasn't clear in enough in just isolating the song in this review.
*Argues mission design is the same kill this random beast or human, get this beast or item, drive to location* *Praises Farcry 3 and 4 where best missions were burning weed.* cant say you got a way to sway though. I like you a bit even though i disagree with this.
I think what makes it better in old games is that besides outposts, there was a reason for doing it. It had purpose but here it's just adding enemies for no reason (enemies were not needed for the lure mission shown for example)
Seriously, before commenting, watch a good portion of the video, my dislike towards this game is not an attack towards you, I promise. If I can't convince, perhaps the last 3 minutes of the video can.

FC6 had a voiced protagonist but man alive did that game suck ass, broken, boring and hollow.
yeah this kinda bugged me and its even worse in FC6 where honestly i dont remember any notable hostile wildlife encounters tbh.
Y'know, back when I first watched this vid, I gotta admit that I disagreed with almost everything you said.
But after replaying the previous titles, and watching this again after more than a year later, yeah. I understand your position regarding this game. This is actually a well thought out and well-made video.

Main sin of this game: NO KNIFE TAKEDOWNS
exactly.Its pure ass
Without kife takedowns is just a unfunny gameplay and the melee are just shit
Yeah, but being able to throw melee weapons is pretty good, in my opinion. It spices things up.
I actually like that change. It was an eye roller in FC4 to see the same old animations and the same old knifes. (Hell even Primal had pretty similar ones)
I DON'T WANT TO BREAK NECKS, I WANT TO STAB STAB.
But even so, i like the melee weapons, i like the bat, and the pipe, and the STICK.

When you forget primal exists
I had it written in my script, one line "Primal was awful" glazed over it I guess, oh well, pretty minimal mistake if you ask me. We should all forget primal honestly.

"I play video games to forget about the little boy I ran over last year" HOLD ON A SECOND
The thing I admire about you is the fact that you're willing to point out the bad of games that look good on the surface
When I first played 5 I thought it was great, had not played a Farcry game since the third one which I didn't remember that well. Beat 5 said, "huh... that was pretty fun!" Replayed through Farcry 3 and said, "What was I doing?"
Wow same
Ahh shut the fuck up... the game was really good....
Henry Lipper Exactly the same
@Ray George not gonna lie though, having beat someone down with a bat or any other blunt object was satisfying
@Ray George Healing is also extremely boring, instead of having to heal yourself in the midst of battle, you could just hide behind cover and heal back up to full without doing anything.
When you started describing the two men waking up in a room I immediately thought of Saw.
Wow the opening was a ROLLER COASTER.

I have very few issues with this game.
you forgot to talk about the medkit animation from other games in the franchise, i now it's something very minimal but somehow for me it was a huge letdown :(
I legit had a whole minute and a half long segment about that, but I cut it out due to time, 33 minutes is already long enough. But I'm with ya.
Pussy
Its actually pretty fucking annoying, thats why they put an option to disable it in fc4, and now its 100% gone. Especially when you try 100% completion
what do you mean by that? i'm a pussy for liking gore animations?
albino preto how about the fact you NEED a medkit to heal and no separate health bars?
Im from New Jersey, east coast of the U.S. and i personally love the montana setting. Its very familiar and fun to me, because the states up north share the same aesthetic of hope county. Ive been up in Vermont and and New York and its a lot like if i were fighting a cult up there. The small towns, cabins, cottages, the hiking trails. I find the chaos in this setting to feel pretty rad.
Yeah, that was one of my main disagreements with the review.
To me, this was probably my favourite setting in the series.
@@TANKCHANCHAN I dont think the criticism was actually the location but instead what they did with said location. Overall it's just kinda dull. It looks great graphically speaking but in terms of style and flair there really isnt much to offer. Like he said, trees and mountains.

Changing the course between repetitions would completely remove the element of autopilot you're being trained for.
well both can be true at the same time
Far Cry 4 innovated enough for me to where I still enjoyed it. Meh...
“Lame DLC”
Yeah because roleplaying as a mammoth is what people want.
The whole thing of forcing you back into the main story stuff was one of the things that i hated about 5, 3 and 4 lets you go at your own pace and lets you do other things without being thrown back into the main objective automatically.

Excuse me? Far cry 3 and 4 let you go on your own pace? Ohh yes because i totally wanted to do forced stealth for 60% of far cry 3 sacrificing my play style for the sake of narrative
Or having to wait 80% of the game been done to explore the other island and other half of Kyrat
If not fc5 is way more open ended than both of those
We can go in every region since start, do almost everything since the start and also play with different guns without having to sluggishly wait the narrative progress.
I agree, plus the Shangri La sequences were really trippy and pretty to look at.
Lol
This.
dont forget the amount of healing animations. broken fingers, pulling out arrow, pulling out bullet, etc now u just have a bandage and thats it.
The opening joke of this video is a perfect encapsulation of my ENTIRE sense of humor.
I think I'm in that small group that actually enjoyed Primal, the stealth was so much fun in that game.
Primal is fine but idk it felt off maybe cuz i wanted dinos
Ubisoft like:
You want a good ending? JUST DON'T PLAY THE GAME LUUUUUUL 4Head DUDE
Kalili WHAT GOOD ENDING ? THERE IS NO GOOD ENDING !
The truth is, FC5's story seems to created by devs who hate Far Cry and Far Cry players even more.
that's every far cry though
Fady Medhat your opinion and experience>>>facts
Btw did you read the intel or info about fc 3, 4 enemys, there are actually more.
I feel like this man went into the game with a 'I'm gonna hate this game' mindset. His biased hate doesn't make sense.
Playing this game on hard mode is the way to go. Easy is just too forgiving with the mediocre aim assist. If you want a challenge play on hard mode nuff' said
now the things i hated with this game that made me rage more than any enemy ever had
ziplining means pressing space i am used to holding from all the other farcry games so i kept falling to my death because i held the button
parachute deploys after you hold it i am used to it deploying instantly so i kept falling to my death over and over again
using the glider you are automatically holding w as you are running so when you deploy the glider you are still holding w and well you crash straight into the ground or into a tree as you are not prepared for it to fall straight down
approaching a ladder triggers a painfully slow animation so when you have 40 enemies trying to kill you and you approach the ladder your character will slowly try to enter it while getting killed
i died the most from these things and nothing else

@@BlindBison It was fantastic lol
Purvdragon-sensei it’s annoying as a black persons to hear someone do such a weird bad impersonation of how they think you sound like

Only decent one they done was 3 rest are shite. Blood dragon wasn't to bad.
Alright, removed my "dislike" again:
- AI too simple: True - there's a lot to be improved. Remark - on the pc version, the AI was simple, but didn't have any of the bugs you showed
- FC5 the worst: Disagree - you can't endlessly step up the same way. You can step up with what technology offers (and yes, they didn't really do that fully).
- AI companion useless: Disagree - I loved having a nice girl driving me in a muscle car while I shoot out the window. But yes, it's ridiculously easy to take over all camps with just your binocular.
- Empty world: somewhat true - wingsuit, transportation, they didn''t really use this potentially beautiful world like in FC4
- Helicopters overpowered: yes and no - Finally there are capable helicopters which throw a punch, but, they would need a better counterpart, maybe SAM sites you have to clear first or you have to fly like an ace to not get shot down, and if you got the skills, then there is no reason why you shouldn't enjoy the fireworks.
- Best weapon in 45mins: True, it was too fast to get to the best stuff there. More grinding to earn the power would be more fitting. In FC4 you had to work quite a bit for the MG42
- Hunting animals let down: yes and no - I'm an actual hunter, and FC5 did a good job with that. But the grinding for success, way better in FC4
- monotone environment: true, unfortunately.
A wolf doesn't run zig-zag just 5m in front of you to avoid you shooting it, unless they're in a pack, and then it's still something else... ;-)
To sum it up:
The content of FC5 could have been far more engaging.
Cheers.

Excellent video as always, inspired me to do a video on FC5 itself!!
Nah,other than textures and water physics, everything has been downgraded compared to 4.
@m bain tf burgaroy just gave his opinion
m bain How are you so dense that you don't realize how incredibly hypocritical you're being? Your defense of the first comment is that it's his opinion yet all the second commenter did was disagree, you actually told him to shut the fuck up. If you're such a champion of making everyone's opinion heard then telling someone to stfu for voicing theirs makes no sense since that directly goes against your entire point.
Far cry 2 didnt even have stealth lol
@Tom Phelps it actually has not as polished but it still has stealth you just silenced guns thats it
Mana playing easy mode and using auto aim and complains about it being easy well like duh
MS PAINT LIVE lol no doubt ,but i will say i played on hard and auto aim an tags turned off and the game isnt at all challenging at any point ..it needs another difficulty level lime expert which all the other fcs have had
Lol I just commented that. He’s such a bitch
The video as a whole was ok, but the intro made me want to take a flash bang to each ear.
Did you ever imagine it was going to get much much worse with Far Cry 6? 😆That game makes this one look like a masterpiece.
“Guessing that something bad is gonna happen by the end of this game means I won the big boy award for outsmarting ubisoft h a ha”
This game has got so many good reviews because none of those reviewers actually bothered playing the game.
Or maybe they just liked the game? Like so many people do

The healing mechanic is what got me, no being able to heal yourself without medkits and regenerative health is a bore, having to walk slowly behind an ai who's walk pace is slower then yours and listen to them drone on about some badly who gets shot down in 5 bullets.
It's a shame because Montana a pretty great looking place but they made it just bland Yellowstone park for example why wasn't that in the game
Edit: I think they problem was laziness not the location
it definitely was and it extends to all parts of the game

Exactly I havent played all the far crys simply because I am not a single player gamer but holy shit this far cry 5 has turned me into one.
obviously far cry 5 antagonist, joseph seed is not interesting, & not memorable like Vaas or Pagan Min, the mision & side mission itself a rehash from old mission from far cry 3 all over again.
I've been wanting to play the far cry games for a long while and the only ones I'd be interested in and look to be the best are 3 and 4
I remember getting this game due to the hype, and the narrative that they returned to a FC3 type of game, but yeah pretty much exactly as you say, it's buggy and easy, clearing a camp requires almost no skill, there's no reason to even disable the alarms.
Probably Fun but it much worse than all the rest of games farcry 2 was better than this crap
He's not wrong though when he says it's just mountains and trees. Look at Ghost Recon Wildlands it has so many different landscapes. Yes Bolivia is way more diverse than Montana but like he said they could've included a suburb or a swamp.

@@DoinkertonGreeble Nah theres a lot of well rounded arguments here and there you just have to search
@Java Monsoon Exactly
Honestly im baffled by how many people criticized shit like quest design in this game While fc4 and 3 had such a bad quest design which forced you to a specific play style and made you progress in a very overly scripted way without much to do.
Remember the forced stealth sections in fc3? Or every single drug mission in fc4?
Far cry 5 is a true open ended game
No forced play style upon the player, no annoying overly scripted quests
3 regions unlocked from start where you can go at your own pace and explore 3 different character arcs for the villains which makes the story well more fleshed out than past entries and you could also play its entirety in coop which actually made sense since you could create your own character
To add to the game it also get rid of ubisoft towers so exploration actually matters and the roast of guns were actually different from past entries with shit like an Mp40 to play with, which is completely awesome (having a ww2 weapon in a far cry game is literally gunporn perfection) they also sound better, feel better to shoot as it has added bullet physics and are designed better (even tho some mirrored models still bugs me)
The only things i can complain about this game is the horrible A.I that made the game way easier than it should and how we have to play new dawn for the conclusion
I didn't like five at first but it's starting to grow on me despite it missing a lot of things from the other games. I like that theirs a family of villians, and that you can go anywhere I think these were cool things to do. But anything good this game did needed more depth then what it got.
That last part with the shills at the end was painful, especially Shill Up
Personally, i love farcry 5 but i respect your opinion and i dont understand why everyone has to feel attacked because someones opinion differs from theirs.

Well said
I do feel like you have fantasized Far Cry 4 and 3 a little too much.
Love you Renn but that intro was kinda cringe

Talking bout the music btw
