I think the biggest piece of magic missing from the maker games is hidden exits tbh. It was so cool to find alternate paths that led to secrets with bonus levels hidden on the map.
Technically its actually here
@Bingobo 25 how
Absolutely. I've always thought this too!
@@bingobo2551 literally how?
YES
Two things I would like to see added to Super Mario Maker 3.
1. Message blocks allow the creator to write messages in the level that will be shown when hit. It can be activated by the player or by an offscreen contraption.
2. Star Coins and a star coin system give players a bigger incentive to look for secrets than just 1-ups and 50-coins. Up to five can be hidden in a level and star coin gates can be used in a Super World to hide bonus levels or restrict access to the final castle.
Intresting 2 additions...🤔
Those would be awesome
You're forgetting 1 thing: it should be green stars in the SM3DW style.
Id like to see a decorations category also i want to be able to use rising water, lava and poison in all themes also i want to be able to make multiple goal conditions instead of one and i also want night time effects to work in day as well
@Hank J. Wimbleton exactly what I was thinking: "Oh, there's a text block. Let's see what it says." (you know what's gonna happen)
These are some really good ideas! Maybe the countdown platforms could have a changeable slider for its size. And I’ve also really wanted stretch blocks to be added as well!
Yeah, that would be cool, as well. 😅
Yeah maybe
Dont you hate when a game has so much potential then nintendo is like ight we gonna update the game like 3 times then never again
I think the distance at which a player is launched from a pipe could be determined by the color of the pipe. Making red shoot the the furthest and blue the shortest. That way the player knows what they're in for before entering the pipe and helps the maker from getting confused when creating levels.
Good idea!
@@SmashyYT Yeah, but it could be also have an option to control the trayectory in which mario gets launched from the pipe, the color dosen't matter...😅
@@IvanFranco120 Immediately after reading your comment, I imagined a three-choice pick-a-pipe troll with pipe launchers where the one furthest to the right was right next to a pit, and the middle pipe is the one that shoots you to safety. The pipe furthest from the pit angles in a way that shoots you into the pit, and the pipe closest to the pit (the most probable choice of those trying to outthink the troll, I would think) shoots you up past a cloud or semi-solid platform into a place where your only option is a traditional pipe that leads to a time-wasting anti-softlock involving a launcher you can control the direction of, and moving blocks on a track acting as a blockade you have to time the launch to get through to touch something to damage/kill Mario.
so umm... what if i want a red pipe that shoots normally for the level to look good
@@brian93724 that wouldn't really work for Mario Maker. We have to deal with that the same way if we wanted Goombas to be ejected fast but we wanted blue because we're making a Snow level. Just use red.😕
2 things I would really like to see in Mario maker would be:
1, Ice flower and/or penguin suit
2, Super Mario galaxy game mode.
Yeah gonna be honest why arent the ice flower and the penguin suit in the game?
@@MatragociuDavid whats world engine?
@@MatragociuDavid that’s still pirating, making old levels in super Mario maker
I'd rather have a 3d land style
There are so much stuff I want in the inevitable Mario Maker 3… imagine if it was as robust as rom hacks.
yeah they won't make a new one until they have a new system.
I wonder what's the next console after Switch is done...?
@@TheUltimateRare They already said they're probably sticking to the switch for a while. If Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3 can live on the same system why cant Mario Maker 3?
@@thenachothief well i don't know. it seems like a game they would put on per system. that's all.. maybe they will change their mind and go back to mario maker.
I think there should also be the ability to set warp pipes as an exit, so that it can't be entered, without the need of one-way gates.
ouht
I hope they weekly smaller updates in SMM3 instead of bigger ones each few months, the idea sounds interesting
How it did sounds good??? 🤔
@@IvanFranco120 r/ihadastroke
Yes please! I hate how irrelevant SMM2 feels just because of the odd timing of updates.
Quality is better than Quanity
@@izag549 Ya got that right.... Just check my upload schedule 😂
All I want is the ability to place objects in the background for decorative purposes, possibly darkened so players can distinguish between foreground and non-interactive background objects. Could also affect gameplay if gates were added, yeah?
But I can't say I disagree with your suggestions, they would be really fun to base courses around. More climbables is a must.
Yeah, some fanmade Mario maker games already allows you to do that...😅
What I want is more variations of slopes in Mario Maker. Currently, we only have sloped ground, and sloped belts. They should have sloped semi solids and pipes, as seen in some Mario game like Mario World.
they had "escort toad" and the "stone block" clear conditions in the story mode but never brought those to the editor, which sucked. i hope next time they add those clear conditions because they were so much more fun than stuff like "collect 40 coins"
I went to make a 3D World level called “Doordash Delivery Disaster” where you’d have to use a crates to make Thwomps move, or to let an Ant Trooper cross a gap, or make a tower to reach higher platforms, stuff like that. I was then shocked to discover that there’s no “Reach The Goal Holding A Crate” clear condition.
@@joshuagrahambrown I'm guessing it's because the super hammer exists, still sucks
@@Grane1234 I don't see any reason why the basic-looking wooden crates wouldn't be considered different objects than the ones thrown out by Builder Mario.
@@devonm042690 that's true but then again, it's Nintendo
@@Grane1234 I'm not sure what you mean by that. Coding has never been an issue for Nintendo's programmers. Heck, they added things into the emulated games on NSO to create a more authentic N64 experience, and as has been discovered recently on that front, things like the lack of fog in certain games was intentional. Any glitches are just that.
Thus, the fact that certain things don't exist in Mario Maker is not evidence that the programmers can't make it happen. There'd be no way to know if the Builder blocks are treated the same as wooden crates without having something that checks for something involving a crate. Like a clear condition.
If said condition were to be added to a later rendition of Mario Maker, I doubt it would be any trouble at all to make builder blocks different from crates. There's already the fact that one starts spawned in and the other has to be spawned by a powered-up player.
I wish twisters were enemies and if they were placed in pipes they become the air blowing pipes like in the NSMB games
I wish they could stick into walls and ceilings, so they could push you down/left/right
Twisters have a lot of missed potential
or we could set a pipe to be air blowing pipes so that we can still have an infinite twister pipe
it would be cool for Nintendo to add Item Storage in the Super worlds and new Items such as the Ice Flower and maybe the Mega Mushroom
Yeah, it was an thing since SMW for the SNES. 😅
If I had to choose one thing to add to SMM3, it would be secret exits. Imo secret exits are the most enjoyable parts Mario games and I’ve wanted to see them added ever since the super world update
I wanted them added since Mario maker 1
Tbh the biggest thing I would want are the "pixel pipes" from super Mario Odisey. Imagine being able to have different areas with different themes
YESSSSSSS
Would be really badass if we saw those sort of platforms that you can interact with them if a certain player stands on them, like the ones we see in NSMBWii
But that would be kinda unfair since you’d have to either play as a certain character or play multiplayer.
@@glyphicgames7591 hmm, i can see that
If that were to happen it would be best to use on single player
I think the biggest issue with SMM2 is that everything from SM3DW is exclusive to that style. Could you imagine if everything from SM3DW was universal? The game would have SO MUCH content
Yeah, and it would be much more bigger than before...😅
The biggest flaw of the SM3DW game style is THAT WE CANT STACK ENEMIES EVEN THOUGH SM3DW IS THE ONLY GAME OUT OF THE 5 WHICH HAS STACKED ENEMIES IN THE BASE GAME
Absolutely. Every one of these choices were original, thought out and fun.
They should add placable water too
Yep.
And lava, poison, and quicksand
@@jimmy_os any fluids what are in the games
SMB2 (American) - Everything? -- Birdo and Bullet Snakes useable in all play styles + Quicksand
SMB3 - The ability to collect powerups from Mushroom Houses and Warp Whistles for Super Worlds + the little flames from Bowser's castle that can chase you and the rotating danger orbs.
SMW - Skinny Skewer and the option to allow Backup Powerups for all playstyles + the ability to equip Clown Car Bowser with Mecha-Koopas.
New Sup Series - Collect coins in a limited time period to earn a powerup, 1-up, or some other type of bonus.
No specific to one game, but I'd like to see the required "flat area" of a slope removed, as well as allowing platforms that you can pass through to have slopes.
What's missing is conditional locked doors. Similar to level clearing conditions, it would be nice to have special locked doors unlock when a specific condition is met (ie: get 100 coins).
SMM has so much potential, I just hope they will use all of it!

Super Mario Maker 3 should just have literally every feature ever included in any platformer Mario game
Yeah, but it still planing...
You're right
Bruh
I want colored pipes that act like the clear pipes. Also mini pipes / mini mushroom. And it would be cool if pipes can count as a solid wall, so I can use a pipe cutting through a wall to stop scrolling, but when entering the pipe it would make the camera go through.
Also pipe cannons should have the strength determined by its color.
Secret endings to levels would be great for the world maker.
More mushroom platforms like the raising / lowering ones. Tilting mushrooms, bouncy ones, ect.
Moving objects is the next big theme they should focus on in 3. I think MM2 theme was multilayer and slopes. Moving / rotating platforms can be applied tk any solid ground object, and can have a properties for how fast it moves, or when it moves. For example, it can start moving when Mario hits an Invisible trigger, or when he hits a ! Switch.
"!" Switches should return. It would also have a properties where you can draw a line in the editor and connect it to the stage or object, then it will have multiple functions, like starting an object movement, or it can be connected to the stage and start stings like, auto scrolling speed or start, raise water, lower water / lava, flip gravity. Endless opertunities.
Circular ground would be great, change the size of it, and even add cut outs for if you can't to have a pipe inside of the cut out, and it can rotate, revealing the cut out.
Going back to pipes, underwater levels should have pipes blow air, pushing Mario, or sucking Mario inside, (forcing him into the pipe if he gets caught). The power of the air can be determined by the color of pipe, and it can be turned on and off automatically or by hitting the ! Switch.
Something that I would really like to see added is triggers. For example, you could attach a rotate trigger to a row of coins and it would rotate the coins to a fixed position.
Themes:
City
Volcano
Beach
Factory
Mountain
(New course ideas coming soon)
Terrain
Placeable Water/Lava
Message Blocks (perfect for cutscenes)
Items
Yoshi in SMB1, SMB3, and SM3DW.
Red POW Blocks in 2D styles.
Enemies
Chargin’ Chuck
Fuzzies
Cat-based enemies (perfect for catfight courses)
Gizmos
Cannons that don’t fire (good for mine cart or car courses)
Cages that open with a special switch (perfect for rescue courses)
Super Worlds
The ability to keep and store power-ups when going from course to course.
Warp Zones.
Extras
Pixel Art styler (make your own unique enemies and graphics)
I also thought of the ability to make your own stories for Super Worlds besides rescuing Princess Peach.
And we also need a tower theme.
It would be cool if we had something like you said about the cannons because people would get REALLY creative with those
someone could just abuse the custom graphics pixel art thing to squidward backwards (drawdiuqs)
We need decorations to make levels look amazing
here are some things i’d personally like to have in SMM3 if that ever were to happen although i’m not counting on it (i hope i’m wrong)
- star coins maybe?
- more world types (e.g., beach, volcano)
- larger super world maps
- super world maps in other game styles
- boss rooms that don’t end at the flagpole/axe
- invisible tracks
- custom background colors
- custom object size
- more semisolid variation
- more enemies
- koopalings in different modes
- restart to checkpoint option
- banning all “refreshing” levels (kidding but still)
for me, I want more technical blocks. (especially in SMW since that's my favorite) like i can't say how many times i've wanted to put an entity on a block that Mario can't stand on
Things I would like is more sub world options, also allowing either 2 or 3 checkpoints in each subworld (maybe only 2), and finally, longer levels (the thing that lets you pick how long the level is should be longer)
Edit: even more things I want: the info block things from smw, the fuzzy of course, also the clear conditions from story mode that are not in the clear conditions, also those those electric sphere things in nsmb, and finally (I think) maybe some new enemies or items/power ups??
Edit 2: and I can’t forget , place-able lava and water so you can put it anywhere
the electric sphere guys are called amps
I would like to see
Directional Lift - When you jump direction change the platform
Blue Shell - One of the best power-up I bumped into in ages.
Key Exit - To bring extra tricky challenge
Ice Flower
Hammer suit - underrated Power-up
Tiny Mushroom - Water sprint levels easily
Penguin suit
Tanooki Suit
I heard that the reason more stuff hasn't been added to Mario maker is because the level editor uses all of the switch's RAM to load in all the items. I'm not sure if this is true though, but if it is then Super Mario Maker 3 will definitely need a console with more RAM to exist
The SMW message block could also be cool for story based levels, or to introduce a mechanic
Theres a few things I hope they add in SMM3. 1. Water tiles | Lava tiles | Poison tiles. Instead of having an overlay of water, poison or lava, players can place down tiles that can be used for hazards or scenery in their levels. This can be a huge improvement as users won’t have to use ice blocks or lifts on tracks to make it seem like theres water in their levels. 2. Tanks. I’ve seen many users make levels that are based on tanks. This could also be a huge improvement for SMM3. 3. Geysers and waves. These could be used for levels thats mainly focused on platforming, and could help with castle levels as waves are seen in NSMBU castle levels. Thats all, I have an obsession with levels that have water in them for some reason, especially making one.
Good list. Another idea is to have secret passages where you can walk through walls, and then there is a spotlight showing the hidden area.
1. Countdown platforms, while not really necessary, would be a cool addition to the game, so I agree.
2. Climbable fences don't really have a reason to exist with vines and cat suits + semisolids existing, but there's a bigger issue holding them back. When you're on the back side of a climbable fence, things on the front can't hurt you. But what happens if an enemy in front of the fence like a parakoopa flies away from the fence right as you come out from behind it on the side?
3. Now hot garbage pick-a-path levels can kill me for choosing the wrong pipe _in style!_
4. Stretch platforms would be a simple yet fun idea to add.
5. While these would work functionally, I wonder how the actual flipping animation would work for such a thin, wide object in a 2D space. It would probably take some time to figure out exactly how these platforms would work in Mario Maker.
Overall good ideas, but I see several hurdles keeping some of these items out of the game.
I would really like to see item dropping enemies that can drop any power-up when you defeat them, balloons would also be a nice feature.
I think that in super mario maker 3 they should let you combine course themes. so lets say if you combine a desert and jungle you get the beach theme, or if you combine Jungle and cave you get sewers, if you combine water and skies you get a huge waterfall in the background of your screen which can allow you to use geysers.
Pipe launchers could be useful on a super world map: troll makers : shoves them into an impossible to escape island
Actually, there are sound effects for the flip panels in the games files that go unused
I think they should also make it so that you can adjust the number on of times you can jump on the platform that falls when you jump.
Disco shell, Yoshi power ups, clear pipes in all styles (or pipes that function as clear pipes do), naked koopas + kicking shell koopas. I'll try to think of more
50 coins should be Yoshi coins or Star coins depending on the theme.
There should be a 100 coin and a final option for star coins. But what would the star coins do?
@@vadimyudkovsky9022 a 100 coin is just a one up though
@@tree6015 then the 300 coin, more satisfying then collecting 3 one ups!
I brushed out laughing when I saw the rocky wrench kill itself with a bomb in the 3d land gameplay
something I want to see in smm3 is a beach theme. We have underwater theme already, but that's just not the same as beach theme. And maybe at night, we could have currents in the water that you can place. And also an atumn theme, where it rains at night, to combine the wind from the desert and the slipperiness from the snow theme. All these items would be great, but another good one that we've been asking for for a while would be chargin' chucks or Sumo Bros.
The night beach should have water on top of the screen
I actually would like Charging Chuck's to be brought in
another thing that needs to happen is the powerup hold on feature where you can have an extra powerup on you, this feature could be enabled or disabled by the level creator and you can not take powerups past levels unless its in a superworld and this feature would also be an enabled or disabled by the level creator option.
i want a purple-orange and yellow-green on-off blocks as well as the classic red-blue, as well as message blocks, ? and ! switches, as well as custom blocks that you can give certain sprites, atributes, and even different types (i.e. items, enemies and collectibles/gizmos) and “welding” abilities to link a block to another, such as parakoopas that fly with snake blocks (the paratroopas would do everything they would normally do, but now also keep up with the snake block without being on it) as well as an option to move an object to not snap to grid. (also, the ability to change the sprite of certain blocks would be p cool)
I'm 100% sure that sequel for smm2 will come out before 2024
I hope if it does ever come out, it comes out on 2023 so it will have a lot of Luigi references
These were the most nice ideas for a game
0:09 We actually saw the twisters, in the smb3 w2 in the iconic level of the sun
Ok but imagine a Nintendo Direct sometime in the future, you see a yellow box filled with familiar sounds. The title shows up: Super Mario Maker 2. The text becomes 3D, and the 2 gets knocked down by a 3D. The title now: Super Mario Maker 3D.
They might also add bridges on mario maker 3.
The use of the "bridge" is when the player moves one piece on the bridge will fall as the player goes.
Technically, there already is the climbable grates. Way back with Mario Maker 1, somebody made a little trick to make them, by adding several vines, and then adding tracks for the koopas.
I think the most wanted thing for me seems like it should have been in the game already: water, lava and poison, but instead of being one huge body that is across the entire level, you can place them like regular tiles. That way we could have a castle filled with water, or a desert with an oasis.
One small thing I would love is to have different burner sizes
Extendable burner sizes would be nice, and having them remain stayed on or rotating would also be a cool feature.
7:37 these are already possible if you use the smb2 jumping mechanic and some more mechanics and theres already levels with that.
Yeah, it takes some time and stetup, here they want to put everthing in one second at all. 😅
I personally would like to be able to change the lives of ennemies.
Like with a crown that looks like Peach's one; when the gem on it is blue, the ennemie have 3 lives, it turns yellow when it has two and red when it has just one left.
I think this has so many potential for levels and bosses design !
I would love too to have differences in character's gameplay like in SMB2 and SM3DW.
Thanks for showing my level for the flip switch section! Awesome video Smashy :)
Awesome stage!

0:59 a great thing using super mario construct with the countdown platform! it has the countdown platform!
The twisters you mentioned was actually in SMB3 in one level.. the level with the angry sun
draw block would allow the persin to draw something and when its hit the drawing pops out and costume mushroom, you'd know what they are if you had a Wii U and the first mario maker game
One thing I really want to see in Super Mario Maker but probably will never happen is the possibility to go back in time, just like in the game Braid.
Just imagine, you go into a level and somehow you get softlocked, instead of waiting until the timer runs out/ starting over you can just go back in time a few seconds to the point before you got softlocked
Good concept! 😳
As a new type of block or a setting which the creator can set so you can go back in time a set amount of seconds every so often and or a certain amount of times would be really cool and may save spaces for doors, as well as possibly giving new puzzle concepts
@@slyar I actually thought that a button on the controller would do it
@@yeledcenter3906 Yeah, but all sthe settings about it set by the level creator
All I want is a "start from checkpoint" button to prevent intentional softlocks
Honestly some interactions with the background & foreground such as being able to have a mario clash game style. Or even an improved 3d world style.
I just want tons of more themes, also, it would be cool if you could make secret areas in the terrain
All of these are really cool ideas, Smashy! :D Maybe we'll get those for the presumable Super Mario Maker 3! :) Along with newer stuff too! ^^
It would be cool to see those green platforms from 3dw (the ones that you need to stand on to make them move)
The ability to put pipes in slopes without floating above them due to collision, and also decorative pipe “walls” like uh those pipes that curve and go up I guess. I’m Bad at explaining things
Oh and those hidden concealed areas in walls that are used in NSMB Wii and U
The countdown platforms would be nuts
0:09 the twister and seesaw have been in Mario games before
I'd like to see the cousins of the count down platform like the weighted lift or the directional lift from mario 3
Assuming SMM3 even happens.
BUT if it does happen: Bring back stackable pipes!
I agree with these ideas.
I think the grids should have a blue variant that acts like blue platforms.
Really nice vid Smashy!
Thanks! With the help of SMC ;)
@@SmashyYT Lol but really, Pipe canons and falling platforms was a missed opportunity in SMM2 XD
Im hoping to be able to use any course part for any theme, so I could use clear pipes in smb1 or the goomba shoes in smw
Can't wait to SMM3!
With smm2’s low sales, I highly doubt that smm3 is coming anytime soon :(
This is a myth. It was the best-selling game in Japan during its first two weeks of release, selling 279,357 physical copies. By the end of March 2021, the game had sold over 7.15 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling games on the Switch.
@@Rizarjay I literally bought the Switch for SMM2, but I doubt Nintendo would be interested in making another one due to the kind of the company they are.
@@UltimatePerfection That makes no sense. They’ve already made 2. 3 if you count the 3DS port. Seems like a weird place to stop.
We need more mushrooms platform options. We need the bouncy ones from NSMBDS and the stretchy ones from NSMBWII
I'd like to see a better version of the Boswer Jr. and the Koopalings Bosses with all their gimicks, a better 3d world gamestyle, a brand new gamestyle, everything you said on the video too but add a separate building system to, for example, make a wall blocking the exit in the front part then use the fence thing to go to the bg part, improved super worlds, firebros and boomerang bros in all styles, different color clown cars for each koopaling, costume mushroom, stacking pipes, story mode exclusive items on maker mode (including toad, carryable stone blocks, clear conditions, etc.), new course themes, and for now, that's it.
I hope they add the mini mushrooms and mini pipes, ice flowers, fake walls, and star coins. I think they would be really fun.
Koopas of all colours, Yoshis of all colours, beach koopas and empty shells
I feel they should add the blocks that allow you to give instructions when hit.
a mini-pipe block for those all-pipe levels would be cool in my opinion!
7:15 the Red/Blue Panels originated in Super Mario 3D Land. That game came first. Then the others.
Where's playable Princess Peach in 3D World Style
It could be a future dlc for a future Super Mario Maker 3
I think the direction platforms would be a better idea than timer platforms.
Guys just know that most if not all of these are in the mario bros x fan project if you wanna see that they can be implemented
I couldn't agree more. :)
The Stretch Blocks could also have an On/Off feature
Ya but what about the same thing for ground it can be round too and it can also extend its S to E then the original from Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Maker for 3Ds, and Super Mario Maker 2 3:21 and also adding the "Three blocks Long Question Mark Block" and also extending the size for your "Super worlds" Too
Of course, they'll have to me made for every theme, and having tons of content can make it gigabytes large…
We have those time lifts in super Mario 4 jug adores
i would love to have those platforms that keep coming down in smm3. like in 1-2 in smb1
...I wonder how many weeks it would take for the final update to be released if SMM3 was made.
Maybe, about 3 years or something...
This is impresive! Hope Nintendo puts all those additions to the game. 🤞 😄
I will also put my own list of new items, enemys ir new options that i'd like to see in SMM3 in the future:
- An option for Hammer Bros to throw at least 2 or 3 hammers at once, instead of separate.
-The windmill platform from Yoshi's Island series.
-An option for Firebros to thow fireballs repeatlly, and constantly.
(An concept inspired by the Mario Fovever game)
-Fire Vines (an alternative version of the vine object, than can be climbed on but only for 5 seconds)
-An Pipe Sewer theme
-Power Stars (An alternative object that can be used as a secret exit goal, just like the NSMB series)
- Button Height Platform (An element inspired from Yoshi's Island DS) If something stands on that platform, it'll active an contraption that can be linked to somewhere. (Like an moving platfrom or an trap door)
And, that's all, but these are just one of many examples, of SMM3 proofs that he REALLY needs! 😅

i think mm3 will be availible in 2023 or 2024 bc mm1 was relesed in 2015 i think, if thats correct mm2 was relesed in 2019 that makes it 4 years between the games so i honestly think a leak or a mini trailer will come neer the end of the year, it sorta makes sence.

I hope they add styles to Super Worlds. At at least add SMB3 and NSMBU world themes.
Yeah! Yeah! More smm3 concepts!
They should add the Triangle block
And the ! Switch that can trigger things
