Railroading in the Mountains. Tehachapi to Keene,CA

Over the course of a week we made our way from San Diego up to San Jose and the bay area. along the way we made a trip to Cajon pass, then up the UP/BNSF Mohave sub to Tehachapi and the Tehachapi loop. We stayed at a fantastic AirBNB that was butted right up against the line along a curve at the southern entrance to a tunnel and the loop it's self. Footage starts with a freight in the last minutes of light on the 17th, picking up shortly after dawn on the 18th. Once the sun was up we made our way slowly along the short section from the loop to the town of Keene,CA and the national park there. We had lucked out as there was no track maintance that day like there was on the 17th, and the flood gates were wide open for traffic going mostly south toward Mohave and Barstow,CA.
We do hope to return some day and film more of the very scenic route through the mountains.
