I can't thank you enough for this video! When first leaning to crochet, this is one of the first how to videos I watched. I have literally watched hundreds of videos and 4 years later, I STILL go back to this one. You are an amazing teacher and I want to thank you so very much!!
@@createcrochet2940 😍 I'm currently working on a plarn (string made from plastic grocery bags) hornets nest for my grandsons new playground. It's supposed to deter the REAL hornets from making a nest near by. But anyway, I had to reference your video (once again) because I never remember how to get the magic circle started. That as well as increasing in the circle. Thank you again!
My friend wanted me to make a pair of round pillow covers. Of all the videos, this one is the best. So, I made one. It was perfectly flat. 😎 The next is kind of looking like a flat bowl 😁😂🤭 I tried changing the hook. Its still curling. Tried doing it all over. 🤷🏻♀️ Thank you for this tutorial. 😊🙏🏻💖💖
Thank you for this crochet video !! I found it was easy to follow. They may not of came out perfect but I’m happy with them and now my grandkids want me to make them some !! 🙏🤗
I must say your tutorial is amazing! I've been learning crochet via CZcams and patterns i've found on the Internet but very few actually teach you something. Yours taught me more than a hundred tutorials! Thank you so much and I wish you the very best for your future
Thank you for this tutorial. I was just searching for round pillow case tutorials and instructions because I have two round and two square pillows needing covers. This will give me a much better custom look and color match for my living room, thanks again! 😄
You did a wonderful tutorial!! It was nice that you used yarn that didn't blend with the back ground and that we were actually able to see you crochet the stitches. I especially found it helpful to know that you mark the last stitch to help you keep track of where you need to end and how to count each row adding one more single than the previous row, the stitch you used in the US, is called a half double crochet. Thanks for your time and knowledge to share what you have learned; you are very generous!
Ginmars1 Thank you so much for your kind words!!! I am humbled by you watching my video and taking the time to leave such positive words - a massive thank you xx
You are most certainly welcome and very deserving! You are more appreciated than you know I'm sure, people just don't leave comments as often as they should. Keep up the great videos, good ones are very hard to find and such a help for those of us who really want to understand. I remember when I first started crocheting how difficult it was to read a pattern with all the * and ( ) etc... lol. Now things are done on charts and I'm struggling again trying to read those as simple as they are supposed to be. Its soooo much easier to learn with an experienced crocheter than to read a book, learn stitches and try to follow a pattern at the same time. I don't usually make round items so I haven't had the experience to learn this and it helped a lot.
Ginmars1 Again - a massive thank you! Is there a project you have in mind but maybe need a little extra assistance? i will make a video especially for you. I am not recording right now as my son is on summer vacation from school and requires a lot of my time!!!
I understand about the kids and school, our kids here in the US are on vacation too, till towards the end of the month. No rush on tutorials but I do enjoy them. Because so many people use You tube for instruction it is such a wonderful thing to have! I need a refresher on some of the basics like how to figure out a multiple for a pattern and how to read crochet graphs and maybe sometime how to do the filet crochet where they create words crocheting...i used to have a good understanding of crochet at one time but it has been so long since I have picked it up again. The lady who taught me passed away several years ago and it was hard for me to continue.
+Ginmars1 I tend to make up all of my own patterns and I am very aware of copy right laws and CZcams. I have never been successful with crochet graphs - that being said, I am sure one of our community on our facebook page will help you...they are a lovely bunch on there willing to help!
+Terri Watts Hi Terri, Instead of increasing on each round replace by crocheting 2 stitches together. This will is a decrease. I generally play with decreases for a specific project so what i'm thinking is if just doing 3 decreases per round isn't making it small enough decrease more and more until it fits.
+Mary Cooke Hi Mary. I always over estimate how much yarn will be needed! If my memory serves me correctly you won't need more than 576 metres. The balls I used are 288m each and I don't think I used all of the last one up. I am sorry to be vague but it has been a while since I made mine....if in doubt get more and take any un-used balls back to the store (or use them for another project!)
+Mary Ellen Lucero how far into the project have you got? If it's only a little way then yes, try a different hook. Sometimes crochet circles do curl but you can block them out at the end - but that's only if there is a little bit of curl. Hope that helps
create crochet I am not to far in the project so yes not a problem to start over and I saw in your video you gave example of how it should not be. I truly appreciate your response in this project. So far what I have seen yours is the easiest for beginners.....:)
PrettyandCexi Nails I am very sorry but I don't really write patterns for public viewing (mainly because its all scribbles!). My advice would be to follow the video and if you need any further help or have questions let me know and I will help as best as I can - happy crocheting!!!
G wenna Doty Thank you for your comment. If I were to put a lining in I would make 2 circles the same size as your pillow case and sew them together (leaving an opening for you pillow). I would then hand sew your beautiful crochet work to the pillow. I have to be honest and say I have not lined my pillow, I got a circular pillow from Amazon and the pillow itself is ok to have a wipe over with a damp cloth. I hope this helps!!!!
I'm quite a beginner, but when I made this and put my two sides together, one was bigger than the other, even though I used the same sized hook and yarn. Any idea where Ive gone wrong?
oh honey I'm wondering if your tension was different.....as I one was crochet looser? there is a cheats way to sort this out simply add more rows to the smaller one until it matches the larger one! or the perfectionists route would be to do a third one and see which it matches to. let me know how you get on
I would love to see how a square one turn out Carmen, could you please post a picture on my facebook page: facebook.com/createcrochet. Thank you for leaving a comment xx

You are such a lovely human, thank you Angela! I wonder how your crochet journey has grown in the last 4 years?

I love the way you taught this. I appreciate you understand beginners don't understand the lingo. I am fairly new at crochet. Love this pillow idea.
A brilliant tutorial, thank you

I would love to use this as a stool cover top, could you possibility give directions fro decreasing for a stool?
+Terri Watts Hi Terri,

Do you have to use both strings or can you use one at a time?
Hi can you tell me how much yarn would be needed to make a 16 inch diameter pillow using two strands of DK please? x
+Mary Cooke Hi Mary. I always over estimate how much yarn will be needed! If my memory serves me correctly you won't need more than 576 metres. The balls I used are 288m each and I don't think I used all of the last one up.

Hi I am only using one strand worsted 4 and using hook K 6.5 mm but edges are curling up do you think I should start over with hook L 8 mm???
+Mary Ellen Lucero how far into the project have you got? If it's only a little way then yes, try a different hook. Sometimes crochet circles do curl but you can block them out at the end - but that's only if there is a little bit of curl. Hope that helps

How can you make it with a lining?
