  • The Atlanta Braves continued their winning ways by taking down the top team in the American League on Friday at Truist Park. Ozzie Albies returned, Chris Sale went seven strong, and Marcell Ozuna stayed hot in a 6-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians.
Grant McAuley and Jake Mastroianni of Locked on Braves discuss another great start from Sale, who is proving he can cover the innings, more run production from Ozuna, the impact of getting Albies back in the lineup and much more. All of that and a preview of Saturday's Game 2 of the series with Charlie Morton on the mound for Atlanta.

If the formula for sale is to give up a first ab hr and then lock in the rest of the game. I will take it every time

The Braves bullpen needs to be talked about more. Needs more love. The bullpen is fantastic.

Ozzie apparently healed that broken toe through sheer willpower! That was quick, and right back in the two-hole hacking.

You have to be impressed with Chris Sale. The team as a whole has been so resilient with the injuries without missing a beat. The big guys will get going soon and it's really nice to see everyone else contributing to their success. Thanks Grant and Jake as always. GO BRAVES.

The starters going deeper in games is a big deal because you don't want to wear your bullpen down. Sale has pitched well stay healthy is the key.

Gg guys, from a guardians fan, your lineup is insane! Hoping we bounce back tonight to even the series 😏

They tend to grind opposing pitcher down with no real holes in the lineup. Right now, Olson, Riley and Acuna really haven't gotten going, but they'll pick it up.
You guys should have more scoring chances tonight against Morton. He has a tendency to give up HR's.
      Should be a fun game!

@@williamabaker12 yeah agreed with what you said about the lineup, I thought Allen looked ok last night but your lineup made him really work for it and eventually it got to him in the 4th inning. Feel good about our odds of winning tonight, then it’ll come down to Sunday!

There's a lot I'm worried about with Braves pitching come October. Sale and Lopez from not having posted 150+ inning seasons in years, Morton from being 40. Fried is really the only one I'm confident will still be on top of his game come game 162.
That being said, nobody can touch the Braves right now. The offense is outstanding as always, the bullpen is outstanding as always, and the rotation is absolutely lights out. Id take the Braves over any team in the league right now without hesitation.

Love seeing Albies back, and he had a great game.
Although I was originally for being patient with Riley and Olsen, I think I’m past it now. They need to be moved down in the order. I’d hit Olsen 5th and Riley 6th. Move Harris II to 3rd against righties and move Ozuna to clean up. Those guys deserve to get shots higher in the order. Perhaps putting Riley down to 6th will take some pressure off him and he will start producing. He’s frickin’ killing us as a #3. I’m so tired of the horrible AB’s and the 3-4 pitch strikeouts.

If we didn't continue to win and have the best record in the game, I'd be tempted to agree. As it stands, don't change what's working.

Grant, You are NOT the Only Person who keeps catching themselves calling the Guardians their Former Name.
You can Blame Political BS for that.
The Braves have stuck to theirs despite the same BS from others, and they can't do anything right now because this keep just keeps on winning.
    Great Postcast Tonight!
