Wintersun is one of my favorite bands, one of the few albums that I can listen to front to back and love every second of it. This may just be my favorite song of all time...the sheer serenity and majestic turbulence is quite literally unmatched, I don't know what Jari was on when he wrote this but whatever it was it must've been something the Norse gods gave him...

This is truly one of the greatest solos ever written - props to the majestic and formidable Jari Mäenpää.
Rewatching this years later and only beginning to realise how amazing this actually is!
once you actually start trying to play this kind of stuff and know what's going on, it becomes even more mindblowing than when you first heard it as a guitar noob with no clue.

for me learning guitar has made me stop seeing great guitarists as superhumans, with a non-attainable power
it hasn't made it less cool though, rather the opposite
@@Geraet I kind of agree, but it's sort of a bell curve. At first you're ignorant and have no idea how hard it is. Over time you get better and gradually the scope of something like this gets more and more colossal. Eventually you realize it's attainable with a lot of practice.
However, people like Guthrie and Teemu still blow my mind, and I doubt I'll even be there when in my 40s. They're fast, *always* tight and accurate 99.9% of the time.
Same. Watched this years ago as a guitar noob. Watching this again as a semi-guitarn00b and my is blown as to how fucking amazing this masterpiece is.
I 've been playing guitar for about 15 years and I can safely say this is probably THE most challenging solo to learn among many. I can also say that this man deserves some fucking respect for his accuracy and precision. Bravo, sir!

When I first heard this song as a kid it changed my whole outlook on guitar. It brought me to where I am today. At the time here in Canada this album was super rare to come by and it felt so cool getting my hands on their beautiful physical copy. Popping it in the ol ghetto blaster and attempting to learn this song was a milestone as a guitarist for me.
