- Super fast straight to the point tutorial on how to record audio in Mainstage 3. I explain the settings you want to get right to make recording super easy. I didn't even know about this feature for at least 1-2 years into using Mainstage so thought I'd share for those who might be newer to the software. Mainstage 3 is a powerful piece of software especially for $30/£30. In fact I might even suggest it's one of the best £30 I've ever spent.
The software is mostly for live music performance but this record feature is like a stripped back version of that in logic. In fact 1-2s ago I made all these FREE MAINSTAGE patch videos using Mainstage's inbuilt record feature as I didn't know any better or think to use logic etc.

MAINSTAGE 3 OVERVIEW:
MainStage might be thought of as a companion app to Logic Pro. It works in much the same way and bears a similar user interface. The focus however, is on live use rather than features like recording and editing that are available in a DAW such as Logic. Instead of a timeline for instance, there is an editable "Workspace". This allows a user to drag out an object that acts as a software representation of a hardware controller like a button, knob or fader and assign that to a parameter such as volume, pan or even more complex things. MainStage comes bundled with a number of sampled software instruments (such as pianos, guitars, drum kits and pads) as well as effects. These instruments can be played using a pre-recorded MIDI file or via a controller device that uses the MIDI protocol, such as a keyboard or drum pad. It can also act as a "host" and centralise any third-party virtual instruments or audio units that users might have installed on their computers. Virtual instruments that can be used with MainStage can also be used with Logic Pro.
A MainStage concert can display a patch list which displays all the patches created by a user for that concert. Each patch might have a different instrument or effect assigned to it and various parameters can be changed during a performance by cycling through the list.
Other features include:[6]
Recording of any audio signal passing through.
Multi-effects processing for external inputs (e.g. a guitar or a microphone/vocals).
Play back of pre-recorded backing tracks.
MIDI transformation via MIDI FX plugins and routing via external instrument channel strips.

I never knew that it would save in a folder! Thanks for the info!
No worries Kenneth, Happy to help :)
Very helpful. Thank you brother🙏🏼
no worries Elias glad to hear :)
Thanks for this - I have been trying to re-route audio and use interfaces with no joy- this is excellent
Thanks
Glad it was helpful! :)
Does this do multitrack recording so I can take full band in a live performance and then afterwords bounce them into a daw and go from there instead of using a DAW live? I’m guessing this way saves a lot of CPU since I’ll already be using this as a host with UAD Console
I think that is not possible as mainstage basically functions as a DAW but with a global record through the master bus. The record quality is pretty good though so I imagine that you could probably have a good go at recording multiple instruments through mainstage through the master but you wouldn't beable to separate i them then . Would be interested to know how this goes! I guess best to try out a lot before going live.
I could record voice and keyboard together? and import to ableton live?
Yes should be possible? but why not just record straight into ableton :)
@@pianoproductions9059 would be a good option, however, I will use “ That worship sounds” and this bundle just work in MainStage, from what i’ve seen.
That worship sounds? Sorry a little confused
@@pianoproductions9059 No problem, I'll show you: czcams.com/video/CMAiKhWRVVs/video.html , this is a bundle of sounds, look, and tell me what do you think.
Hi Alisson, What do you mean 1.) what do you I think of the product or 2.) whether you can incorporate recording and keyboard together inside worship essentials? A little bit lost
can you export from main stage
to logic x
Yes I believe so! :)
