Authentic vs. Unauthorized Off-White x Air Jordan 1 Comparison

- With resell prices on sneakers sometimes climbing upwards of $5-6K per pair, many are turning to fake or unauthorized sneakers as a means to rock their favourite pairs without shelving out a good chunk of their bank accounts. This piqued my curiosity, so I decided to pick up a pair to see just how close these pairs are compared to the legitimate retail pairs. My latest video provides you with an in-depth comparison between the two, pointing out the similarities and differences, and for you to come to your own judgement.
The unauthorized pair in this video was purchased through Yeezyqueen

The problem is these fakes have gotten so good, the differences are so minor. Also Nike is so bad at QC, there are actually more variation between legit pairs than the fakes. I have no problem with people buying and wearing these, but I do have a big issue with people selling these as real.
Fair enough
Facts!!
areksoo i couldn’t agree more about Nike’s QC. The stitching on the toe box was better spaced on the UA compared to the retail pair.
it a 190 buck shoe... with limited run.. hoping nike made good QC is like hoping your mail will arrive on time with no problem....
best not getting the red one anymore since it start to yellow and the yellow one coming this year... you can try stockx but they will let this on sale since the quilty are not far off...
I totally agree with you that I do have a big issue with people selling these as real. So I only buy fake sneakers from cocosneakershop.com I trust.
Basically all I learned here was be smart with my money and get the UA pair....... Good video though
That’s a fact
Yessir, I literally just ordered a UA pair of these yesterday hence why I’m watching this video
Brody Burgard wait are ua pairs real?
Niceeguyleo 12 no there unauthentic
Joel Cardon what does that and are they real?
No one's going to catch a single of these "flaws" when on your feet. Wear them with confidence and enjoy the 1:1 replica of your favorite shoe rather than spending your money salary on them. Serves the makers right for not producing enough numbers.
No one's going to catch you? Except everyone who knows you knows you ain't stupid enough to spend $5k on some shoes, so obviously they just be fake as fck.
A Dream There’s something such as copping for retail.
A Dream It’s not like it was impossible to get on release lol it’s just the likelihood of it is low
@@GOD999MODE i have been gigging on fake guitars in some nights. Nobody cares man. I can't afford the legit version of my gigging guitar which is almost 10 grand. I ain't spending 10 grand on a guitar.
@@GOD999MODE a good pair of UA is over $150 fakes are $20 can't even get Walmart kicks for $5
Unless Virgil handstitches each shoe himself we’re paying over the odds for Chinese made shoes
they are both made in china lmaooooo. They are legit the same shoe XD
Yeeen lying boi
That’s a fact 💯
As a former Nike employee in the late 90's early 2000's and paying half price for each release, I got spoiled and found it impossible to pay retail price for any shoe, let alone Jordan's but eventually I caved in and began paying the $135-$150 retail price back in the day. Fast forward to what the shoe game is today, I struggle to give in to the idea of paying $200+ for a tennis shoe. ANY sneaker. The quality of today's replicas mixed with the impossible chance of landing a retail pair in a raffle due to bots makes the replica choice easy as hell. If Nike just mass produced every single shoe that's got a buzz around it before launch, it would kill the resale game (I hate this market even though I'm guilty of selling some of my retails for much more than retail) and there would be no need to buy replicas. I can afford a pair of off white chicago 1s and it's probably my favorite sneaker but that's just stupid. If I had millions in the bank, it's still stupid. Paying more than retail is....just....stupid. I'm no longer a collector but I definitely like to wear my shoes and the fact that no one out there will ever be able to tell a real from a good fake (on foot), I'll continue to support the replica market for shoes I'm unable to buy through retail.....AT RETAIL PRICES!
Amen to that brother 👍🏻 anything I can’t buy at retail I’ll go UA all day. Only idiots would pay thousands for a commodity which deteriorates even if you don’t wear them over time
Which replica website do you suggest ? I m looking to buy these offwhite chicago but i dont know where to buy them for the best quality. Although it's fake it's still 150€ which is pretty much the retail price of the real one so i dont want to pay so mych for a bad quality 🫠
Facts!
It’s getting so good with some of them that I question the whole philosophy of the game. In reality, UA’s are perfectly fine to wear and rock, the problem comes is when assholes try to sell them as authentic to people who want the real deal.
Exactly‼️
@@_cmbkobe The shoes brands has brainwash yall to think unauthorized are fakes they 100% legit. They just never made it to the retail stores because of extra amounts. Once the shoes brands get the amount they want from the factory they don't care much what the factory do with the shoes. So people who works at the factory become third parties and sell the shoes themselves.See the shoes are legit they just never made it to the truck to get drop off at the retail store meaning they're unauthorized.
well its lose lose because you’re a clown for wanting to pay a bunch for “real shoes” and a clown for selling fake ones
@@peaceandlove7678then why are these ua shoes not exactly like the ones that made it to retail
@@MrLuffyoo Ones that made it to retail don't look like one another half the time.
The UA pair "creases" because you can actually rock the UA pair. While the retail pait doesn't crease... because at US$5K to 6K , you won't wear the legitimate retail pair! You keep them in a box and take them out just to stare at them....🤣🤣🤣
To be fair a lot of items are like that... for example replica Michael Myers masks. Many GRANDPAS buy those masks just to put them on a stand and look at them. Collectors are nothing different item to item. Car collectors; buy a bunch of rare cars and let them sit in a garage for decades. Shoe collectors buy shoes to leave them in their boxes or airtight vacuum chambers so they outlive their owners 😂😂 never worn
Exactly!!..... Sell the originals and get paid and use UA since you only pay $169.00 every time..
Retail pairs creases also
Retail sneakers crease too where some ppl.get their info from is beyond me I personally never brought UA anything so I can Say what I did about retail sneakers creating🤷🏾♀

I have to say I legit check a ton of shoes for people and I have to say this is one of the best comparison videos on CZcams. I would definitely like to see you do more of these in depth comparisons. Good job bro
All of them are from China, no difference at all
So basically the UA pair used better leather.
Listen man, I’m not paying $5-$6k for ANY sneaker lol. The UA pair looks just the same, I wouldn’t mind rocking them. Only thing for me is, don’t pass these off as legit pairs if your reselling them yourself. That’s a sucka move.
It’s Ya Boy Dre I feel ya. I wouldn’t pay for any shoe over $300 myself. That’s just too much. Any asking price that much, those shoes better have the tech to make me dunk the basketball or fly off the ground like Iron Man lol
That’s majority of sellers on stock x let’s be real lol

marcozarate78 😂😂😂 facts! Or the white border around the size tag inside the shoe. Who cares? No one can even see this stuff when u wearing the shoes. I’ll take the UA pair all day. Paying $4k for a shoe that looks the same as the UA pair ain’t worth it to me boss

Thx! Glad it helps
They were probably both made with less than $20, the retail deals for $3000 and the UA which is almost the same sells for $100-$200
With a thicker cut leather on the UA pair, wouldn’t it mean it is more durable than the authentic? Kinda makes me wonder why people would pay $5000+ for authentic pairs.
GotK20 rich ppl
Harison 777 I count as rich, but you wont see me pay 5000$ for a pair of fucking shoes
Minor Kicks agreed. We live in a generation of Social Media and Clout. We have people using Facetune on social media to look and feel a certain way. Anyway. I digress. Golden rule never pay resell.
GotK20 It’s the “status quo” of being able to flex something so limited and hype you own as real shoe, fakes obviously have a stigma to them but from Nike’s lack of care towards QC, they make UAs look like authentics with less pay from our end. Prior to this week I never considered buying a UA, but some of these shoes I’d never drop 500+ especially for a nike shoe that usually has garbage quality. For all that I could buy a designer shoe with materials that’d last me a lifetime with good care
it a high demand shoe....
I revisited this video today, After the terrible loss of Virgil, who ,by the way, loved UAs as an extention of his Art. I much appreciated your approach and being the proud owner of both itterations of this piece of Art , i say ''so be it'' . At some point we need to start wondering (no matter what we wear) whether we, as persons, give value to what we wear, or it is the other way round...Good video btw!

100% Genuine and Authentic
'UA' which stands for unauthorized authentic. Unauthorized authentic means that they were made in the same factory and with the same materials as the original product, but sold by someone other than the retail company.
Major shoe companies do not stick to a set of factories to produce their shoes. They assign a certain number (i.e. 50,000) per model for each factory to produce. They will produce 20,000 to 30,000 extra pairs, some even 50,000 pairs. Reason being is that they need this [sic] extra pairs to replace the rejected pairs after they fail to pass quality inspection. But what gets left behind in the old factory is the 20,000-30,000 pairs of shoe [sic] that were rejected, or did not even get to see QC because the shoe company has already reached their quota. So that is how the term “UNAUTHORIZED AUTHENTIC” came about. All this [sic] extra pairs that are left over, are produced at the same factory, by the same workers, with the same material, just that they did not get licensed/authorized/quality checked by the shoe company OR [sic] rejected by the shoe company for not meeting their standards. The factory will then sell this [sic] left over shoes to sneaker resellers, sneaker dealers, and online stores.
shoes are UA shoes.“UA” stands for “Unauthorized Authentic”. UA shoes are very similar to retail Nike/Jordan Brand shoes but are never officially contracted with those companies to be made. UA shoes are usually made in the same factories, with the same materials, and the same workers that make the official retail pairs. They differ from replica sneakers because they are a much higher quality and many people cannot differ UA shoes from official products.
Keep up the great work SeanGO, you have one of the best and informative videos. Been following your channel from T.O to HK. Wishing you more success in 2020 bro.
Carl Lau thanks!
I feel the exact same as you! Whatever people wanna do. But for me, I can’t do it. Closest thing I would consider is rocking a pair of Game Royals painted to look like the Frag colorway. But how good they have gotten is scary. I will never sell my Travis Scott 1s because if I ever wanted them again I run the risk of paying resale for a fake pair.
YES! I just purchased a pair of these and am interested in learning whether I have an authentic pair or not.
Amazing video bro thanks so much
A different content... 10/10!
I'm own an industrial design company in Toronto and often interact with factories in China. One of the biggest complaint is when they redo any of our graphics layout, say on a hand controller. Font is always wrong, spacing is always off. If they hire some decent graphics designers from North American to help with their UA work, we will all be fooled but until then, that's the most obvious way to tell which are fakes. Thanks Sean for doing this.
My wife says "thank you Sean". You just saved our family some major bread. 😂😂😂

Sean Go, you did a great job in your terminolog (retail vs unlicensed), I just want to clarify for anyone in the comments, unlicensed is NOT the same as a fake. That's like saying a torrented movie is a "fake" movie. These particular shoes might be fakes, but "unlicensed", in of itself, does not equal "fake".
Very good comparison 👍🏼

Thanks to Rep!
I’m a sneakerhead. But I would say Reps are good now.Juts learn your rep game!
After paying so much for resale for the sneakers i love or adore, i think we all have to realize it is all for self satisfication. Because from what you can see with such great build qualities, materials, craftmanship including labour & almost 90% identitical why else are we paying such insane amounts ? it is for ourselves.
This is a curse caused by us. Becaue of its nature of being limited & hyped. If these weren't expensive and limited there would be no point in making these near "perfection". And could a sneakerhead like me and others purchase a perfect fake pair and rock it normally? Probably no because the effort compiled into our collection of "legit" pairs would feel like a waste.
You won't feel satisfied when you obtain a fake pair and definitely feel weird for wearing them. I personally feel hopeless about this "loop" effect & as i grow up, I definitely can predict my future-self regretting paying so much for resale. That is my personal take on it and I think it is really a bad habit that I have to get over in order to improve myself as a person.
Regardless the psychology aspect of this problem applies to many parts of our lives, I feel it is a great way to learn something from this.
kofo great comment, but I have to disagree about the satisfaction part. I’ve purchased both retail and fakes. The fake ones I bought because I don’t see myself spending more than $300 on any shoe, unless said shoes will guarantee I’d be able to dunk the basketball every time I jump, or blast me off the ground like Iron Man. I have an Air Jordan 4 Cactus Jack and AJ1 high Travis Scott, both reps, whose authentic counterparts command insane asking prices from resellers, which I definitely refuse to pay for, and I have no regrets buying them and wearing them to work. I’m satisfied as much as I’m satisfied wearing my other prized authentic kicks. It really is up to each individual to do what he/she feels is best for themselves.
no u only feel weird wearing fake cuz theres a 0.0000001% chance someone might call u out on it being FAKE lol
Hey Sean, love your videos! This is a really interesting comparison.

I enter raffles and hope for the W, but if I lose out and I truly wanted it for the toe I go UA all the time. They keep getting 1:1 but there’s always the bad apple trying to pass them off as real, and that is a problem cause I understand there’s collectors for this stuff.
Had a feeling you'd do this eventually. You get so into the details on ur reviews it's fitting you'd do a comparison vid. For me personally, if the fakes are super close and Nike's QC isn't very good on the particular model (Travis Scott 1s for example) I'm staying away unless I got them directly from Nike, not taking any chances. The OW chis are hard to see the differences but they're still pretty clear so that's good to know bro, thanks!
Thx for watching 👍
Thank you 🔥
This shoe is also very complicated, those types of fabrics are very hard to replicate, so they actually did a good job tbh
UAs are not actually fake. It's called "unauthorized authentic" because those shoes were made in same factories as the retail ones. The only difference is those UAs were transacted under the table and weren't requested nor registered by the legit brand.
@@jandagsangan5208thank you!
@@jandagsangan5208they hard to resell which is dumb cuz they real
How much was that UA pair? I find higher priced UAs with more differences to look better than the cheaper ones that have the markings positioned more similarly.
Great comparison! These are passable if you’re walking around people who don’t know sneakers; probably even people that think they know sneakers.
Personally I enjoy chasing after authentic shoes for retail. If I don’t cop I know there is always some heat around the corner
Ross bellis these are definitely passable even for the biggest sneakerheads. Especially on feet, none of these very minor details would stand out at all. You’d have to have a real pair right next to them to pick out anything
I've bought a Balenciaga Triple S transparent and Alexander McQueens UA's this year. And I'll tell you looks are great, but comfort... the comfort will never make it reasonable. And I'm in Africa, those things get warm AF. Given away in less than 3 months
Personally, I think the differences is slightly minor. Is there any possibility because they're coming from different batch? I mean, for non-bias comparison maybe you should buy 2 authentic pair of shoes from different place (different time if possible) and compare it with the UA version.
Great video brother! If people want to buy UA’s cool, just don’t sell them as real. After reading some of these comments how will I ever know if they’re authentic or not 🤔Keep those videos coming bro! Blessings!
P.S. Thanks for not cussing on your vids!

I think it’s okay for UA pairs to be bought because like you said not everyone has the money to spend on expensive authentic shoes (like me) personally I would buy UA pairs just for the look and it’s a way to express the love for the culture and branding but Ofc don’t resell these as a real pair

Why would they stop making fake tags? Theyre scumbags and will add any little touch to make the shoe seem real for resale.
Phone Gamer07 Some sellers are doing flaws on purpose or just add tags or something to make it clear its a replica. Atleast from what i heard a some sellers added stickers at the bottom of the insole so people won't be reselling it

Personally I don't own a UA pair of sneakers but after going through a few websites looking at a few people on CZcams that have them I'm kind of open-minded because I don't have $2,100 to pay for trophy room ones 42,400 to pay for Union ones but I love the sneaker I'm a older guy not a reseller and I work hard for my money now I will pay a certain price for hard to get vintage but what's going on today is crazy like the Jordan ones that just came out University Blue you took $170 sneaker and drove the price up to $450 I love the sneaker but I have better things to do with my money but I still would love to rock them if I get out and go on vacation I believe and feel you a sneakers is going to make Nike wake up and keep a lot of these resellers honest and maybe drive some of the prices down to a reasonable cost but like you said at the end of the day you rock what you want to I'll rock what I want to take care of my friend love the video
That's one long ass sentence.
My UA of this Shoe is extraordinary.
Where can I buy the unauthorized?
How to identify UA pair ? Because here some online websites selling them on official price
I appreciate these types of videos, however, it’s my belief that these so called “fakes, or UA Jordan’s” are made in the same factories as the retail kicks. Furthermore, I believe the “fakes” are nothing more than Factory 2nd’s which would explain why they never made their way to retail stores, and why they have noticeable flaws...when being directly compared to a retail pair. Just my 2 cents. I really do enjoy your videos though bro, keep it going ✌🏼
Those shoes are made by the same machines so i doubt "Factory 2nds" .I think its because the factory makes more what the Nike company ask for.So the rest of the shoes are left in the factory and people who works there becomes third parties by selling them. If the guy in the video flip the shoes and said the "unauthorized are the authentics, and the aunthenics are the unauthorized u would of believed him and guess what retail stores do the same, from experience im telling u some of the same shoes comes a lil bit different from the retail stores.
Most of the flaws you pointed out on that replica are fixed on my replicas
