  • With resell prices on sneakers sometimes climbing upwards of $5-6K per pair, many are turning to fake or unauthorized sneakers as a means to rock their favourite pairs without shelving out a good chunk of their bank accounts. This piqued my curiosity, so I decided to pick up a pair to see just how close these pairs are compared to the legitimate retail pairs. My latest video provides you with an in-depth comparison between the two, pointing out the similarities and differences, and for you to come to your own judgement.

    The problem is these fakes have gotten so good, the differences are so minor. Also Nike is so bad at QC, there are actually more variation between legit pairs than the fakes. I have no problem with people buying and wearing these, but I do have a big issue with people selling these as real.

    As a former Nike employee in the late 90's early 2000's and paying half price for each release, I got spoiled and found it impossible to pay retail price for any shoe, let alone Jordan's but eventually I caved in and began paying the $135-$150 retail price back in the day. Fast forward to what the shoe game is today, I struggle to give in to the idea of paying $200+ for a tennis shoe. ANY sneaker. The quality of today's replicas mixed with the impossible chance of landing a retail pair in a raffle due to bots makes the replica choice easy as hell. If Nike just mass produced every single shoe that's got a buzz around it before launch, it would kill the resale game (I hate this market even though I'm guilty of selling some of my retails for much more than retail) and there would be no need to buy replicas. I can afford a pair of off white chicago 1s and it's probably my favorite sneaker but that's just stupid. If I had millions in the bank, it's still stupid. Paying more than retail is....just....stupid. I'm no longer a collector but I definitely like to wear my shoes and the fact that no one out there will ever be able to tell a real from a good fake (on foot), I'll continue to support the replica market for shoes I'm unable to buy through retail.....AT RETAIL PRICES!

    100% Genuine and Authentic
    'UA' which stands for unauthorized authentic. Unauthorized authentic means that they were made in the same factory and with the same materials as the original product, but sold by someone other than the retail company.

    • @baselst4440
      @baselst4440 Před rokem +1

      Major shoe companies do not stick to a set of factories to produce their shoes. They assign a certain number (i.e. 50,000) per model for each factory to produce. They will produce 20,000 to 30,000 extra pairs, some even 50,000 pairs. Reason being is that they need this [sic] extra pairs to replace the rejected pairs after they fail to pass quality inspection. But what gets left behind in the old factory is the 20,000-30,000 pairs of shoe [sic] that were rejected, or did not even get to see QC because the shoe company has already reached their quota. So that is how the term “UNAUTHORIZED AUTHENTIC” came about. All this [sic] extra pairs that are left over, are produced at the same factory, by the same workers, with the same material, just that they did not get licensed/authorized/quality checked by the shoe company OR [sic] rejected by the shoe company for not meeting their standards. The factory will then sell this [sic] left over shoes to sneaker resellers, sneaker dealers, and online stores.

    • @baselst4440
      @baselst4440 Před rokem

      shoes are UA shoes.“UA” stands for “Unauthorized Authentic”. UA shoes are very similar to retail Nike/Jordan Brand shoes but are never officially contracted with those companies to be made. UA shoes are usually made in the same factories, with the same materials, and the same workers that make the official retail pairs. They differ from replica sneakers because they are a much higher quality and many people cannot differ UA shoes from official products.

    After paying so much for resale for the sneakers i love or adore, i think we all have to realize it is all for self satisfication. Because from what you can see with such great build qualities, materials, craftmanship including labour & almost 90% identitical why else are we paying such insane amounts ? it is for ourselves.
    This is a curse caused by us. Becaue of its nature of being limited & hyped. If these weren't expensive and limited there would be no point in making these near "perfection". And could a sneakerhead like me and others purchase a perfect fake pair and rock it normally? Probably no because the effort compiled into our collection of "legit" pairs would feel like a waste.
    You won't feel satisfied when you obtain a fake pair and definitely feel weird for wearing them. I personally feel hopeless about this "loop" effect & as i grow up, I definitely can predict my future-self regretting paying so much for resale. That is my personal take on it and I think it is really a bad habit that I have to get over in order to improve myself as a person.
    Regardless the psychology aspect of this problem applies to many parts of our lives, I feel it is a great way to learn something from this.

      kofo great comment, but I have to disagree about the satisfaction part. I’ve purchased both retail and fakes. The fake ones I bought because I don’t see myself spending more than $300 on any shoe, unless said shoes will guarantee I’d be able to dunk the basketball every time I jump, or blast me off the ground like Iron Man. I have an Air Jordan 4 Cactus Jack and AJ1 high Travis Scott, both reps, whose authentic counterparts command insane asking prices from resellers, which I definitely refuse to pay for, and I have no regrets buying them and wearing them to work. I’m satisfied as much as I’m satisfied wearing my other prized authentic kicks. It really is up to each individual to do what he/she feels is best for themselves.

    I enter raffles and hope for the W, but if I lose out and I truly wanted it for the toe I go UA all the time. They keep getting 1:1 but there’s always the bad apple trying to pass them off as real, and that is a problem cause I understand there’s collectors for this stuff.

    Had a feeling you'd do this eventually. You get so into the details on ur reviews it's fitting you'd do a comparison vid. For me personally, if the fakes are super close and Nike's QC isn't very good on the particular model (Travis Scott 1s for example) I'm staying away unless I got them directly from Nike, not taking any chances. The OW chis are hard to see the differences but they're still pretty clear so that's good to know bro, thanks!

      UAs are not actually fake. It's called "unauthorized authentic" because those shoes were made in same factories as the retail ones. The only difference is those UAs were transacted under the table and weren't requested nor registered by the legit brand.

    Great comparison! These are passable if you’re walking around people who don’t know sneakers; probably even people that think they know sneakers.

    Personally, I think the differences is slightly minor. Is there any possibility because they're coming from different batch? I mean, for non-bias comparison maybe you should buy 2 authentic pair of shoes from different place (different time if possible) and compare it with the UA version.

Though im always open about how mine aren't real. And i will never ever sale these replicas and label them as authentic. I just hope one day Replica Sellers stop making fake StockX tags tbh.

    Personally I don't own a UA pair of sneakers but after going through a few websites looking at a few people on CZcams that have them I'm kind of open-minded because I don't have $2,100 to pay for trophy room ones 42,400 to pay for Union ones but I love the sneaker I'm a older guy not a reseller and I work hard for my money now I will pay a certain price for hard to get vintage but what's going on today is crazy like the Jordan ones that just came out University Blue you took $170 sneaker and drove the price up to $450 I love the sneaker but I have better things to do with my money but I still would love to rock them if I get out and go on vacation I believe and feel you a sneakers is going to make Nike wake up and keep a lot of these resellers honest and maybe drive some of the prices down to a reasonable cost but like you said at the end of the day you rock what you want to I'll rock what I want to take care of my friend love the video

    I appreciate these types of videos, however, it’s my belief that these so called “fakes, or UA Jordan’s” are made in the same factories as the retail kicks. Furthermore, I believe the “fakes” are nothing more than Factory 2nd’s which would explain why they never made their way to retail stores, and why they have noticeable flaws...when being directly compared to a retail pair. Just my 2 cents. I really do enjoy your videos though bro, keep it going ✌🏼

    • @peaceandlove7678
      @peaceandlove7678 Před 2 lety

      Those shoes are made by the same machines so i doubt "Factory 2nds" .I think its because the factory makes more what the Nike company ask for.So the rest of the shoes are left in the factory and people who works there becomes third parties by selling them. If the guy in the video flip the shoes and said the "unauthorized are the authentics, and the aunthenics are the unauthorized u would of believed him and guess what retail stores do the same, from experience im telling u some of the same shoes comes a lil bit different from the retail stores.
