    Newman was 34th, 1 lap down with 5 laps to go. He rebounded for a top 10 finish. Just let that sink in for a minute.

      @@loriumartinez For me I think it was a bit unprofessional cause I don't think Denny meant to push Briscoe off track, it looked like AJ pushed him a bit and thats why he went wide and pushed Briscoe off track. But I think something bad was gonna happen no matter what sense they were racing for the win.

      @JShaw...A chaotic left hand turn would be ironic, a right handed turn is to be expected considering the majority of NASCAR races are held on ovals.

    I want NASCAR to do the Road Course again. But they need to fix these curb issues. Those two cautions were a nightmare.

      slow down stay on the track, quit cutting the corners! every week we hear these are the best drivers in the world, well show me by driving on the track. double yellow lines at every track!!!!!!!!!!!!

    people were saying this race was horrible and should neve come back here, but i personally dont think it was that bad, sure *the curb* was a big issue but other than that we got some great racing and an exciting finish

      This was the Best Short Track Race yet. The others have been whoever gets in front drive off . Zero passing, zero lead changes, unless a pitstop or wreck. Or your Chase Elliott and drive from the back to the front all day , when no one else can hardly pass,( In your Illegal Car,Nascar says nothing about). This was actually a race. And a number of cars really had a shot to win this thing. The most entertaining race I've seen all year, even without the Snafu of the Curb.

      This was one of my favorite races. However the curbing incident was super unfortunate and is what the race will be remembered for... for now. I think some great races will be coming in our near future.

      I was so Mad. The first really good race all year. Watching it about 10:30 at night. Turned over to NBC sports app. Fast forward to last 10 laps. Same thing again!!!!!! They couldn't even show the finish on the App 6 or 7 hrs later. NBC needs to give it back to FOX. Those guys care. Here I am to find out who won. Also FOX always does rewind. They condense the race and I catch catch that . Just embarrassing to NBC.

      Imagine getting ran off the race track while you’re wheel to wheel, reentering safely and giving up 1st to race fairly, and then getting a penalty… not a Briscoe fan, but a real head scratcher there. I’ve seen better officiating from volunteers at Spec Miata.

    Might’ve been a smoother race if they’d used the round turns of the track after Turn 4. They should try it next year.

      True. That would’ve been a better idea. Sure that would slow lap times by a lot, but due to chaotic ness, I think that area could be a lot better.

      @@ninjawarrriorr3062 pretty much. if the curb issue becomes worse, they either need to use that section or even use the oval layout. Plus next year next gen, so maybe Indy oval can be better.

    What a wild race! Joey’s crash genuinely scared me, that whole curb was a disaster zone. I REALLY wanted Briscoe to win, sucks that he got that penalty. Anyway, congrats to AJ and Kaulig Racing! Huge win for them!

      There should be no argument about the penalty he violated track limits and gains a unfair advantage. The real penalty should be him taking out the 11 for no reason.

      @@robertjones9200 How? How could have Briscoe avoid the penalty? Should he stop on the grass and do a 180 to reenter in the same spot? That is impossible. He would just get stuck in the grass or crash into someone as he rejoins the track. He had no better choices or control over where is car ended up. Hamlin should have been penalized for sending him off track.

But even if he was pushed off, which in my option he wasn’t that’s still no excuse for punting someone else off the road. Back in the day or another driver there would of been punches thrown on pit road.

    I like this a lot, I'd like more races like this, passes in the corner. Drivers being too late on the brakes not just hammering down, having the nerves to fight for position and stay on track, Beautiful.

    Man! I remember going to the Brickyard in the early 2000s and it was packed! Sad to see all those empty seats which is becoming more the norm at all tracks these days.

      i remember watching on tv being amazed that the grandstands down the front stretch were PACKED. 105 in the middle of the summer and every single seat was filled.

      There were 400k people at the first race in 94 now they happy to get 80k. My family has gone to every brickyard 500 race and every year it's get a little more sad. This year was up tho I don't know if it's because it was the first road course but I hope it can get back to how it used to be.

    I've just realized that both of Kaulig Racing's first wins, both Xfinity and now Cup came with car number 16 and with part-time drivers in their respective series, Ross Chastain in the Xfinity race at Daytona in 2019 and now A.J. in this race.

    Great race Nascar. That race was the best race i've ever seen at Indianapolis and ive been watching Nascar for a while. Fix the curbing issues other than that im sold. From more road courses to Bristol being on dirt etc, you name it but right now Nascar is getting it right regarding the schedule.

    Was a helluva good race up until "Curb-gate"! Not sure who is responsible for that fiasco, but it needs to be solved before next year's race. Someone thought they had fixed it after the disaster early in the Xfinity race, but they just made it WAY worse. I'm surprised it took 78 laps to show up. Still, it was fun seeing AJ win this race.

    Great race, loved it, even with the drama. Nothing typical. Some of the drivers need to adjust to driving and not just power. 3 and 4 wide in a 90" turn will not turn out well. First 2/3 of race was pretty typical with some great racing. The last 10 laps were wild. NBC switching channels for golf was a nice curveball. All in all, great entertainment. Can't wait for next year.

    For people saying to change the way turn 5 and turn 6 are. On an oval course if a driver takes a turn at 180 and hits the outside wall do u say "they should make the turn wider" or do u say "he should slow down more for the turn"?

    BS Penalty on Briscoe. He re-entered and gave Hamlin the position back. That should have cleared that. Glad he put the "Chrome Horn" to asshat for running him off the track in turn one!! Hats off to Chase!!

    I dunno how you can make Nascar exciting, even boiled down, very well, to highlights it's sleep-inducing. I tried playing the video at 1.5x but it makes the commentary squeaky!
