The Northern Lights from the back garden 10/11 05/24

Not something that you would expect living in a town with surrounding street lighting but friday 10th into sat 11th of May 2024 their turned out to be a mega display of the Northern Lights seen here from my bedroom window and back garden starting at 11:16 pm through to 01:32 am with a lull about 00:30 am taken on my IPhone 13 mini, hope you enjoy and thanks for watching.

A very different compliation from your norm eh?
Superb display, and well captured, and from your phone too - excellent!
My family treated me to a trip over to Iceland for my 70th, in 2018, so I went with our son. With 2 trips out, we saw nothing like yours, Nige, just some light green flickers. Great experience though - but OMG very expensive!!!

Hi George, yes something completely different as I’ve always wanted to see the lights which is why we also went to Iceland ten years ago and like you only a flicker if that, lovely spotless country but yes very expensive, never ever dreamt I’d see the lights from my back garden and the camera on the IPhone is brilliant seeing more than the naked eye, cheers nige👍

Fabulous! Saw them too, a first for me, though it was barely visible with the naked eye and mostly showed up on the camera. Seems in many cases, phones gave better results than cameras, yours certainly gave great results.

I’ve got an app which sends alerts so that’s when I looked out of the bedroom window and saw some activity other wise I’d probably have missed it also, cheers 👍

Was it as vivid to the naked eye? I was about 30 miles north of Aviemore but saw nothing, so disappointed.

No but you could see that there was something going that’s why I grabbed my iPhone then we lost it around 12:30 but was back after 1am for a while.
