- For more information on how to get a hair knot out, see our blog: www.positivelymommy.com/2013/0... This video is of my daughter who had a huge hair knot in her hair that was all folded over into itself and curled under to cover most of her hair. It was almost like dreads! Underneath that, there was a main knot. It took us 2 hours, but we were able to save her hair. We thought she might need a pixie cut because we had to pull out quite a lot of hair, but as you can see from the video, you can't even really tell she had that huge knot in her hair!

The struggle of having thick hair
and long hair on top of that lol
Kylie Durham I remember I woke up one day and there was a humongous knot in my hair and I just put a lot of conditioner and used a wet to straight brush My hair is wayyyy to thick
OMG IKR
Chelsea Pratti so true I have long and thick hair that is straight and I don't bother putting it up cause I like my hair loose.
Kylie Durham for real
my mom doesn't go that slow she just pulls and combs hard perks of being Mexican 😑
Jazmine Arvizu perks of being samoam😂😂😭😉
I have the most white ass mom and she rips the shit outa my hair like damn I would've just done it myself. When I was like 6 when and my mom still brushed my hair I would cry cause damn that shit hurt and she would get mad like what do you expect I was 6.
k8 yeet my mom does that and my dad is like “just cut it” and I’m like “nooo” but ya every time my mom tries to brush my hair, I’m screaming my head off and crying cause she pulls so hard. I’m Mexican btw
Lol. Ikr. Not alone
And Kiwi! Seems to be people of colour ripping hair out 😅
Tried. Comb broke.
Edgar lmao
Edgar relatable
Edgar what do you think on you're owners beard?
Edgar same😲
Edgar oh my
Everyone else's mom: *gently brushes there child's hair*
My mother: *basically trys pulling my weave out with the brush*
Haha I have to say my kids would definitely say I'm guilty of brushing their hair too hard too. Sorry it's so difficult on you kids. We need to be more careful!
Amai_ Drawings_and_animations *their* hair, their means belonging to them! There is a place, like here or there
My mom just brushes so hard when my dad brushes slowley
Be glad your mom does it for you at all
My mother is the one that just pulls my hair when combing and it hurts soooooooooooo much
im sittin here with all of my hair in a knot basically. idek how to detangle it.
Same
Me too
It’s y’all kinda fault for probably not taking good care of ur hair every day and combing it and if not it’s probably the conditioner your useing (no offense)

To say that you’re “Depressed” as excuse does sound silly for those that don’t know.. but it’s true it does happen and it has happened to me so many times. From going a long time without brushing your teeth to not combing your hair. You tell yourself it won’t happen again but it does...
This happens to me v oftenly and a few times i had to stand in the tub while my sister frickin picked at my hair for hours and i cried most of the time, since quarantine, i brushed my hair a few times but i have this giant not on one side of my hair
This!!! Ive had problems with my hair because of depression for I dont know how long and my mom somewhat understands but my stepdad doesn't believe it's depression he just calls me lazy over and over again, 95% of my hair is a huge knot and its hard to find motivation to brush it out
I was in a rlly big state of depression and didn't brush my hair for weeks I just didn't have the motivation nor the energy and Now i feel stupid as heck bc i got 2 massive knots in one side of my hair and 1 that is almost out on the other bc ive been working on it but like idk what to do bc the 2 knots on the other side are literally massive and i cant get it out on my own might have to go to the hair salon sadly- Its taught me a massive lesson tho
This is happening to me right now I don’t even know what to do...
Well, I also used to be depressed as well. It's hard and I used excuses but in the end, I know it my fault and the knots that piled up are the consequences for not taking care of myself.
Those knots are like a wake-up call. For me at least.
Who's here because quarantine be making us lazy to brush our hair
Quarantine got my hair into knots .. trying to look for what to use🤔
Me I got gum stuck in my hair though and still did not take it out of like 3 days and now I regret it...
Me... I had to cut my hair really short :c
Me
Yeeeeep my hair is basically one large ball at this s point.
That knot isn't that big mine was worse
Suraya Newman i have a knot thats the double size
suraya newman mine is the worst
Suraya Newman ur not alone... 100% OF MY HAIR IS A KNOT! SHIT
All of my hair is a knot and I have really curly hair
Kalyssa Brown i have 3 giant knots and i have straight hair fml 😂😂
I will never understand how straight hair gets this matted.
Neglect
I'm watching this because my hair is so matted and tangled right now that I can't brush it at all or wash it or anything. I look like I stepped out of a cave 40,000 years ago
+Mak@5 hair mattes and tangles comes from not shedding enough hair
It's just strange I have kinky/ curly hair and I don't get mats like this
it does my hair is straight and very long but kinda coarse and if i dont put a lot of conditioner and/or sth conditioning after i wash it it gets like that easily, like lets say after you go swimming or ride a motorcycle.
I've had worse… my whole head was once into a giant matted mess. Just use hair detangler, and special hair brush, and a regular hair brush. Wash your hair as best as you can, and then have somebody brush it out for you. It hurts super bad, but you deal with the pain. It takes only 20 minutes if you just deal with the pain.
That's exactly what I do!
+alohamaddie i have tangled hair
That happened to me too! I had to get a hairdresser to do it though because I live with my dad and there was no way in hell that he was going to touch my hair
+Dream Catcher lmao
Yikes! I have the same problem. What type of "special brush" do you use? I've never found one that ACTUALLY works! ( brand name please? ) Ever tried coconut oil? Will it work on my long thin straight " white-girl " hair?
I'm a single dad and I've had a military style haircut pretty much my whole life so I haven't had a lot of experience with long hair but this video helped me so much my daughter was very happy and there was little to no pain at all thank you very much
So glad to hear a success story, thanks for letting us know. Way to rock the Dad thing too 😊
@@PositivelyMommy thank you very much
My mum used to just grab a huge brush and rip my hair out, but my head was like a rock, so I was all good.
This isn't the biggest knot I've seen because I had a knot so big that it took the hair dresser people 3 HOURS to get out of my hair just saying
I can't even imagine how hard it would be to have a knot that big!
I know I was crying like most of the time because it really hurt :( But I'm fine now. :D
TiffanyAwesomeGamer101
Oh man, I hope it never happens to you again!
Positively Mommy Me too
I have two huge knots in my hair but I don't think people would be able to get it out..
Try to untangle a knot when you have thick afro curly hair, shits takes a long time.
exactly
That's the hair I have T-T
+SlowMotion My knots take days to untagle.
lol I had to have my younger sis help me comb out my naturally kinky curly hair when we were teens and it hurt like hell! but was so worth it when she was done. I don't how she had the patience to do it, but she did it! She tried her best to not make it pull and hurt so much and she figured out that if she held my hair then brush the ends, it hurt less until he got to the scalp and then she'd try and be as gentle as possible.
u bald ma homie
I have a giant knot in the back of my head. I'm so frustrated just by looking at it :/
I did it!
Same😒
Nicole L I Know Right
Nicole L sameeee
Same! I’m really stressed about getting it out because my hair is short and thin
Never attempt to remove knotted or matted hair when it’s dry. Use oils like argon oil, almond oil, avocado oil and coconut oil just to name a few. You can also use detangling spray as well.
My hair was matted & had a big knot..omg.. I tried coconut oil..olive oil..detangler..nothing worked...my daughter in law..combed as much out as possible. We went to Great Clips & cut it across. A bob..looks goos. Only solution..cut hair..sorry..
Yes it worked on me coconut oil👍👍
@@mariaesposito274 I think you might mean it’s the only FAST solution. Because I have hair past my rear end. It’s matted close to the top. I haven’t brushed through the matted part in 4days. It’s going to take a LONG time and a lot of patience to get it out. Or no time and no patience if I go lob it all off. No way. Maybe I’ll learn my lesson to not let this happen again… this time 🤦🏻♀️
If you add annnyyy water to mine itll lock like a rock ruined like a shrunken ruined wool sweater
Beware,
Oil and serum with slip. With slip do help tho,
I don't have oil
If ya'll want to prevent knots, then braid your hair and wrap it in silk when you go to sleep :)
who the fuck has time for that
Everyone black girl ever (sarcasm)?
Johnathon Mottershead LEAVE HER ALONE
I have very dry bleached hair and put it up on a pony tail and it still knots. So I am going to try your approach of braiding it and wrapping it up. Thank you for the n suggestion
cozzyk I hope it helps ^^. Just make sure it's silk. If the material isn't slick you'll wake up with a giant dreadlock xD!
that is NOT overnight
My hair gets that way after a day..
EmoSMOSHBride yes it is. My whole head was matted overnight.
EmoSMOSHBride my hair gets like that I'm White and Hispanic and I can wake up and have huge knots
yes it can my hair is long and thick if I straightened it I have to constantly bush my hair so It don't knot up . I don't have time I have three kids and my 1 year old pulls it so. always put it up . and now has big knots.
my hair is wavy sometimes it gets tangled or matted plus I have a hard time brushing it
I know some of you will correct me with this current suggestion.
When i brush, I hold the very top of the strap that has the knot in it, then start to brush, Spray constantly, Don’t stop this process.
After your hair should have a smaller knot, Go in a shower and continue brushing.
This helps me a lot! I get this same hair. 😇🤗
Thanks it helped I told my mama if she can do that she said yes and it came out less than 20 minutes so yeah very very helpful!
Finally cut big chunk of my hair because it was tangled , knotted so badly!! It was the only way. Tried everything!! I will get a haircut soon. Long hair is troubling sometimes . Good luck everyone!! Don't be so hard on yourself s. It is only hair!! You can cut it out if you can't fix it!! It will grow!! No worries!!
I 🫶that attitude! Have been thinking of doing the same thing as I still can’t get the knots out after almost a week and it’s never been this bad.
The same thing happened to me last year. It covered the whole back of my head.
Me too! UGH, the pain! It took almost 14hrs to get my log thin straight "white-girl" hair manageable. Some recommend coconut oil. Have you ever tried it? I know NONE of the so-called untangle brushes have worked for me. Any ideas?
...spelling error : my hair is "long" NOT "log" thin straight....etc! Ha!

Really! Well, get a load of this.... I just heard a conspiracy theory that claims "static electricity from power poles" is the cause of hair tangle issues!? Isn't that CRAZY!?? I guess we'll have to suffer, ...or cut it all off! Yikes! Please God nooooooo......
It is, and now I've just heard the weirdest thing yet! A conspiracy theory that goes "power poles cause hair to tangle and mat-up"! Is that NUTS or what??? I guess it's either it's grin and bear it ,.... or cut it ALL off! Yikes! Please, God nooooooo.....
My 7 yr old daughter has beautiful, thick hair that reaches her lower back. But it is also extremely fine and easily knotted/tangled. To prevent a giant matted hairball (which she used to get regularly) I follow a routine. The main part of the solution is keeping her hair almost permanently plaited/braided in a simple 3 part plait/braid. I brush her hair twice a day, by taking the plait out, brushing with her Tangle Teezer brush, then re-plaiting. I wash her hair gently, about once a week with a low sudsing, sodium lauryl sulphate free (SLS free) shampoo, such as Burt's Bees Baby Bee No Tears Baby Shampoo & Wash. Followed by a good conditioner, such as Herbal Essences Bee Strong Conditioner, which I leave on for 5+ mins before rinsing. I towel dry her hair by squeezing the water out of the lengths gently, no rubbing. I then put 1-2 pumps of John Frieda Original 6 Effects Serum through her hair using only my hands, no combs or brushes. This serum is a lifesaver and I highly recommend for anyone who has children with very fine tangly hair. I have used dozens of other supposed de-tangling products on her hair and nothing I have tried works as well as this. After applying the serum, depending on time of day and circumstances, I either plait it up for the night or rough dry with a hair dryer or a low heat setting. This means that in the morning or after the hair dryer the hair is still a little damp and combing or brushing is easy. Then it's back into the plait. I am also going to invest in a silk pillowcase for her which will help prevent night-time tangles on the sides of her head. I know it seems like a lot of fuss, but compared to the literal HOURS I used to spend de-tangling her hair per week it's a walk in the park and I could never bring myself to cut her hair short for 'convenience' as we both love her hair so much. She loves it because she can be Rapunzel or Elsa without wearing a wig and I love it because she has a lot of health issues and as a very young child of around 3 to 4, due to the stress of ill health her hair started to fall out. After months of this and no answer as to why from the Doctors, her hair was so thin and wispy you could see her scalp very clearly. When her health stabilised, her hair re-grew. So now to see her hair so long, full, thick and shiny warms my heart. Ramble completed :)
I want to like this 1,000,000 times :)
My hair is exactly the same way. Maybe I'll try this. Hopefully, I can find the right products!
what? You said it was thick and then you said it was fine?
By thick, she means he has a full head of hair, or a lot of hair;
And by fine, she means that the hair itself is not textured.
Scarlet Pattison Geez.. you must have nothing else to do!
One time, I sweated so much that my hair literally FUSED together and my whole head of hair was in one fused knot😵
THANK YOU for posting this!! I was beating myself up thinking I was the world’s worst mom. This calmed me down knowing that other moms/daughters had this happen. I’m normal! Yay!! 🙏❤️
Same. I have a 3 & 5 yo daughter both with long thick, curly hair (they’re biracial, so they also have a coarse texture) & if I skip a day or 2 without brushing, no joke it will almost turn just as bad as this (especially when it’s left up in a bun) They hate getting their hair brushed. I was looking for easier techniques, I’ll try combing from the bottom first as they did in this video.
I used to get knots like that when I was little... not fun. I hated getting my hair brushed and my mom always had to chase me around the house.
Hahahaha. Same here. Never fun. Lmao.
So did my mom but are house is small so I had no were to run
omg same, She'd chase me up to my room and force me down, hold me with her feet and she'd comb the shit out of my hair, no mercy. She would pull as hard as she could, she's not willing to waste an hour going it gently like in the video. I have that knot by all over my hair.
andypeluche96 My mom should basically rip out my hair because of our shitty hair brush
Me too! And I still remember anyone who who brushed my hair and made my head hurt. And I still don't like them.
i try to get my hair untangled, but it is such a beast since every other week i lose my brush, and cannot brush it, then when i do find my brush, my hair is an entire knotted mess. last time i brushed my hair it took me 3 hours night and day. yeah, my hair is bad.
You should keep your hairbrush in a vanity or a regular drawes
asdfcookiemonster glad im not alone
I'm in my 60s, and my hair is very fine and growing thin. I use a spray-on detangler intended for toddlers.
I'm sooo glad I found it in time for my second childhood!
This happened to me once. My mom took me to the hair salon at the college. They worked on me for 5 hours. But the knot happened over weeks of me not brushing my hair, not over night!
This also happened to my sister but unfortunately we just ended up cutting her hair
@@samanthaa2435 they ended up cutting mine too!
That's a tiny knot my knot it through my whole hair
Thats how mine is rn
How did u get out plz help

u think this is a bad knot!?!? I had one on the back of my head and I couldn't even feel my scalp at all

@@clairelim5613 after 3 years, did u manage to get it out? Help me plz :)
Jana. Amr. This is my whole head right now as we speak.. I can’t scratch my scalp but I go through this all the time and my hair is very thick.. patience, conditioner and time ! Literally once it took 3 days for me to untangle my hair.
One time my hair was soooo tangled you could not even brush it took 3DAYS
Adri Lee what did you do please help me I have been trying to do it for days.i got it to where only the left side is tangled from the scalp and it is from the scalp down like 4 inches
29 years old on my couch stuffing my face with Reece’s YouTubing how to remove the 2020 depression rats nest from my head. Great times. 👍🏼
Haha Reece's are my go to as well! Good luck on that rats nest
So relatable x
Me too 😩
2021, depressed trying to fix hair. Eating reeses dark chocolate. Love that I'm not alone and hope your doing good.
@@marisawilson9963 you're not alone. I was sick and depressed with big knots.
Here's how I detangled my hair in case this helps -
1. Oiled my hair and scalp using oil as they were very dry
2. Used conditioner on the knotted parts of the hair (applied just on the hair and not scalp, without water)
3. Proceeded to detangle it in sections for about an hour (start at the base and then work your way up)
4. Reminded myself that it's better to brush my hair regularly rather than undergo this
5. Washed and shampooed my hair to get rid of the greasy oil and conditioner
I’ve had 3 knots in my hair and my grandma would go Angry mode😂
Armyyy I have 2 knots 😂😂
i have like 2 or 3 lmao
Sameee!
update: i got them out!
The whole of my hair is a mess and in trying to get it out it HURTS SO BAD!
Same I Dyed it with Hair chalk and omg it's tangly but not a huge knot
this may be a dumb idea but when I have those I get in the shower use conditioner comb it out nice and smooth and wash my hair with shampoo and then it's all golden! those are a pain to deal with
Erica V Yep that's what I do!
That's what I used to do! Now after I grew up my hair became ALL in one knot at the back of my head
I tried EVERYTHING
It's been a weeeeek and my hair is still in a knot plz hell
Ive always just worked my fingers through it. I pull out any loose hairs that get tangled and it helps a lot. Then I just keep pulling some small locks of hair out of the tangle. It hurts some, so make sure to hold the hair above the knot so that you don't feel it as bad
Whose here because of home quarantine times, and your hair is messed?
Jody Hakala me
dude put some damn oil in it or something
Coconut oil does wonders!
Not always, I learned that from a hairstylist, who detangled my knot painlessly, it leaves a sticky film and can make it worse. Obviously it works for some people, but not all.
Bettie Stiletto h
I put coconut oil and it’s still there
I put oil in my hair right now and it isn't helping 😣
You should probably put her hair in a braid before she goes to sleep to prevent this from happening especially in the warmer months when sweat and tossing and turning due to heat adds to the situation.
Ain't nobody got time for dat!
I’ve been brushing this knot out my hair half an hour every night for two weeks. I do little and often to soften the hair. It’s helping but tonight imma go full on, the softer the hair the better.
This is so helpful I’m struggling here with a brush just brushing on top of it and here you have the solution to all my problems!!!
Always always always always always use coconut oil or olive oil for these rats. It will melt away
Oh! Why didn't we think of that. I love coconut oil.... next time for sure!
I have this problem all the time and I just soak my hair in oil (extra virgin organic cold pressed etc) that stuff works best. And within three minutes it's easier to comb through. It gives the hair some lubricant so that it expands and loosens the knot.
I use palmers coconut oil formula for my hair but it makes your hair smell of coconut
Me to:::::::))))))))
Thank you so much
do u just use a normal conditioner?
I was sick for a week and didn't really move for three days so when I was feeling better, I tried to brush is and had a huge rats nest, like that one but bigger. I just used coconut oil and a large brush and it came out, and my hair was soooo smooth
Huge rats nest 😂😂💀
Mashed Potatoes aye i have straight hair but i make loops of circles with my hair and now its tangled Like a nests will this work?
XxYezirXx Pina. Yes if you have someone to help you .. 👌 Hope you were able to keep your hair its difficult when its curly and yes you take care of your hair not over prossed with color. 😬
I'm so grateful you shared this video! My daughter and neice have very similar hair (similar to your daughters') & that gets knotted very quickly and easily It's so hard to brush a child's hair when they run from you and cry and scream!
Thanks for sharing your tangle tips!
I give my kids a lollipop my eldest is nearly 8 and is still a nightmare
That didn't just happen over night.
Actually it can happen! My hair can get extremely tangled from just sleeping
+M. Bellelove me too!!!!! And when I wash it is all combed out I put it in the water an I just gets sooooo tangled ugh! Idk why!!
spare the judgement, the woman is obviously concerned it can happen to 'underhair' in a couple of days and you might not notice and the child might have been doing something like trying to rat it, and just didn't want to say it.
Shann Oxley my whole head is matted from overnight
Yes it can. We went swimming. My daughter had her long hair down . After it dried it had a huge matted knot . Trying to figure out how to get it out now. Its all the way to her scalp 😱
I have really curly hair and it's stuck like this for the past 2 weeks and I couldn't get it oit
use coconut oil it'll come out really easy
What us long hair people have to go through, especially females! Try dealing with very fine, highly dense, spiral curly hair, not kinky but almost kinky; the kind that springs back up when wet. The black hairdressers often told me they never experienced hair line mine! It looks very deceiving short and dense and extremely soft but plentiful. Recently I got tired of dealing with my type of hair. I previously washed it and parted it and made twisty braids, moisturized with pomades oils like olive oil and coconut oil to keep it from getting dry and covered it with a satin wrap for at least three months. What a total mistake! Washed it recently and was left with one side in the back area with two dime size knots(back left side) and (the back right side with a fusion of about 4 to five inches of matted hair. I felt like crying because it took be about 5 days trying to deal with detangling this mess. Finally, I told my niece to help. She did a fantastic job cutting out the knots and combing though with a very fine tooth comb. Thank goodness she has the patience of Job. I lost some hair, but it does not look too bad. I will never let my hair go this bad for so long! Lesson learned, never neglect hair no matter what, especially if its long and extremely fine. BTW it took me 5 years to grow out my 'permanent straightener' and that was an accomplishment in itself. I wasn't going to do a big chop because of these stupid knots. No way! :)
I'm not the only one with knots like this!!!
This kind of happened to me because I got one of those round brushes, the ones that "curl" your hair stuck on my head. My mum used fingernail clippers to cut off the brush bristles. She eventually got my hair unstuck, but it was left with a huge knot. It wasn't matted like the video. It was an actual knot, like when you tie rope. She couldn't get it out. I was going crazy, bawling my eyes out because it was 1 inch from my head, and I didn't want short hair. There's nothing wrong with short hair, it's just not my preference. We went to the salon and the lady eventually got it out. She even gave me a lollipop!🙉🍭 Shout out to the woman who works at the Super Cuts near Planet Fitness!
Omg! I did the same thing!! I don't remember how we got the brush out.. I must have blacked it out of my memory 🤔
That's why i am here, a brush like that got stuck and my sister had to yank my hair out LOL!
I'm almost scared to use that brush. My hair is a mess already
THAT HAPPENED YO ME GESTERTDAY I REGRET BUYING THAT VRUSH
My mom brought it out
I watched this and tried, I made an attempt. Then my
Husband got two big matters out in 7-9 min each! He said not to use wet stuff. Whew! Thank you 😊 Patient friend: husband!
vjayjay lube?
Yes water locks it worse locked like a rock!
My daughter left her hair in a messy bun for about a month I hadn't realized she wasn't brushing it out at night now its just one giant knot, is there anything I can do to save it?
Is it better to keep it dry, or can you use a detangler/conditioner?
"giant knot" I had a knot bigger once and my mom wouldn't have it. she said "get your ass in the shower" and we brushed it out. it took about 15 mins.
If you use a brush or a comb for this type of knots its gonna take a long damn time the best thing u could do is finger detangling and cutting the little knots that links the hair to each other lol idk how to explain u know what i mean and then brush it until its 100% tangles free its so easy and it wont even take 30 mins and its less painful
Is it possible to do it on my own hair or do i need a 2nd person
It's easier with 2 people but it is possible to do yourself
Thanks for this video. Im on the mission. It will take me hours. Your technique is saving my hair. I tried flat ironing, leave in conditioner and i was about to cut it. This technique is the only way.
Hair should have been wet and soaked in conditioner first before you started combing it out.
JordynnTaste MySugarr also use oil like coconut oil or baby oil
That's not suitable for every hair type
@@adaocha1066 right some hair knots tighten up like rocks from water get much much much much worse
yoo everytime i forget to brush after my shower my whole head turns into that! and i forgot yesterday :( the pain is real! any advice other than this because i have really thick and really long curly hair so this will take me literally 2 days
Going through this right now. Best of luck to you. I'm just brushing and wishing tbh
lol i found out how to get rid of it, my hair has been done very quickly, here are the 100% guaranteed to work steps i say this because i literally have the most unmanageable hair ever everytime i go to a salon they tell me "what happened ive never seen or worked with hair like this its crazy" here are the steps: go shower put conditioner all over the hair flip your head upside down take a brush not a comb and just brush from your forehead until your moved all the knots to about half way down your hair, flip your head up rinse hair a lil bit but keep hair soaked with conditioner and part your hair in 2 sections (in half) rip if you have to i know its damaging but its worth it then start at what ever side by brushing from up to down all the way around till all the knots are evenly beside each other (same level) about half way down and hold the top part were there isnt knots(hold very tight) with your other hand vegerously brush all the knots out, it rips out alot of hair but all the hair getting ripped out is damaged and it doesnt hurt because your holding it each side (depending on length thickness and how hard you go ) for me i have long hair and thick hair but brushed very hard so it took me about 10 min on each side once your done rinse out the conditioner (while rinsing out the conditioner do a final light brushing) and then once all the conditioner is out use shampoo after normally shampooing (dont lather to much or youll bring back more knots focus on your scalp just scrub till your clean) after the shampoo is all out do a quick round of conditioner just in brush lightly and rinse out after you get out of the shower brush one more time and dont put ANY products in your hair no matter how natural it is and no matter how frizzy or ugly your hair gets without it. after brushing do a simple back braid or what i did was cronrows because you can still shower in cornrows and they are actually very comftorable and once you do take them out (after a week or so) you have beautiful tight waves and it gives almost an afro i personally love that! but if you dont want to get cornrows done and dont know how to do them yourself( i did them myself ) than just do any braid you prefer and once you sleep wrap your hair in silk (not fake silk)
anything silk will work (scarve, pyjama) hope this helped you sorry for the huge story ahha but I just wanted to give you full detail because this always happens to me and i absolutely hate it
sabi moka Dang it I litterally JUST got out of the shower too!! I have a detangler conditioner I was trying to use again. I'll have to do that tomorrow! I've managed to get it from all my hair to only half my hair though, so that's good lol.
Thanks so much!! I'll def have to do this tomorrow *o*
np :) Peculiarly Moll
Me too!
She has nice shiny hair. Glad you were able to save it. Happens to mine all the time. Sleep in braids helps.
Thank you OMG your such a life saver because I just have a huge knot in my hair right now and now I know what too do 😂 I was literally crying because I couldn't get the knot out 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 thanks
I usually brush it while in the shower while the conditioner is in then brush it more when washing out the conditioner and more when I’m drying my hair and it works well
that is literally me I wake up and my hair is not filled with knots then next thing u know it gets tangled like if that happens to u
I have very fine straight hair and i fell asleep and i got a HUGE knot its been in for about a month know i jus put my hair in a bun bc i cant do anything its like i have a big dread😂 but it hurts its really bad any suggestions
now...how do i do i for the first time when its like right at the top of the ponytail.. i have gotten to stressed to ask to brush my hair for over a week
I can never give my brush to my mom. She will pull my hair out. No joke.
I think my kids would say the same thing 😉
This is why I have the hair on the bottom half of the back of my head buzzed, because it knotted and matted so easily because that hair was thinner and weird (idk why). Then all of a sudden it became a trend to get that part of your hair buzzed and I'm just sitting here having done it out of necessity XD My hair predicted the trend!
I have a detangler brushes, leave in conditioner amd detangler spray. Ive spent 3 days 2hrs each session. Ive been going at it for the last 2hrs and still have a big knot still at my root.
I have a huge knot at the back of my head that hurts to brush and my friend told me that they might turn into dreadlocks and I don't want that to happen- can you tell me some tips that take less time? And my knot is WAY bigger than that and my hair is really thick. Thanks if you can
Poor girl :< right now I have A LOT of tangles on 1 side of my head :(
Azzy me asf
yes
So helping this works, I left a bun in my hair the whole time I was in bed sick and I just took it out and literally my whole back of my head is one giant knot and this us not exaggerating . I'll be sure to let you know how this works
OH no! I hope you can get it out easily.
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME!
Exact same problem. First flu of the season and I'm left with this horror at the back of my head.

Oh man, I'm so sorry. I hope it comes out easily.
I cut mine out.
I'm struggling right now with knotty hair when I was younger my hair was so bad that I cut some pieces off at the back of my head and it's really short but growing and i brushed out all of my hair now except for that short pieces it's really tangled I'm trying the wet brush and a comb and even that brush that makes your hair flat and nothing is working! Does anyone have anything that worked for them??
Hey! It worked a lot Im gonna start doing this from now on!
This happened to me once and I just cut most of it lol it grew back and it’s not noticeable
This was made years ago and their still replying to comments I give yo I respect for that but anyways I’m sitting here with like months of matted in some spots and tangled mostly there is like five knots and I need tips on how to get it out like what to use
As long as we get comments, we'll answer 😉. As far as products, leave in conditioner, and coconut oil have been mentioned as extremely helpful. I'd also like to add a wife tooth comb for keeping up after the knots are out
I have extremely thick hair and i got like 5 massive knots in my hair which i cant seem to get out If anyone knows can you go to a hair salon to get knots out?
That's what we did!
I just got one of these in my hair after taking my hair out of a ponytail it really hurt, spend an hour getting it out with my brush plus I had to pull out some of my hair. After washing my hair it is always brushed out not sure why I got the huge knot hope not to get anymore it ruins my long hair 😥😖
I suffer knots all the time 😲 but I bought a detangler brush and it's really good as it helps alot 🙂
I just drenched my hair in detangler until it was wet...and brushed through my hair for 5 not so painful minutes. And it’s almost completely gone but my moms just gonna help me take out the small tangle tommorow.
Good luck tomorrow! I hope all goes well for you. I think it will go well if you have a good detangler 😊
That knot did not happen overnight! I'm a hairdresser and that's something that happens over the course of a day or two not just from sleeping. I would recommend using ultratress hair products and a wet brush as well as a leave in conditioner twice a day
My friend got her hair almost to her knees & she is 5'0 and due to some reason she couldn't comb her hair for almost 25 days she had her hair braided but now her knots when she's solving slowly with her hands for the last one hour her hair are still falling like crazy. What to do?
All of the people in my family reactions:
Me:MOM THERES A BIG KNOT IN MY HAIR
Mom:Cut it off!
Bunny/Puffy:Doesen't know what is happening
Turtle/Frankie:Doesen't know what is happening
Dad:Doesen't know what is happening
Brother:Doesen't know what is happening
Other brother:Doesen't know what is happening
Grama:Literally takes out the knot in 5 minutes
Me:W-w-w-w-wut?!?!
Grammas are magic!
Who else has thick hair and has a huge knot also has to comb it before their devil mom wakes up? Just me okay🙂
THATS WHAT IM DOING RIGHT NOW LMAO ITS 5:06 AM AND IVE MADE ZERO PROGRESS
You can get knots in your hair whether young or older and/or thick or thinning hair. I was and am still getting knots. I’ve heard humidifiers help. I need to replace one and have been shopping around.
Is this the best way to do? Coz I cant comb my giant knotted hair :< Its painful even I stroke one stroke :< Please help. The knott in my hair is natural? it happens even when I comb. I have a really long hair and my mom and my grand mom and my family told me not to cut my hair but I'm struggling now coz the knott got bigger until it came to my scalp which is now very painful when i comb it :< PLEASE HELP :
No one should judge others on the "how" this came about. It can happen to anyone without proper means of hygiene due to hard times. We all have hard times and need some Tender Loving care to get out of the slump. May God bless you.
I don't like people even touching my hair
Tøø sassy før yøu
SAME LOL XD
Tøø sassy før yøu same
I have super thick hair and the outside is kinda straight and the inside is incredibly curly. I used to get these all the time and I just cut the back layer of my hair out and I have only gotten 1 since.
I have curly hair and a very sensitive scalp. I get huge knots like this, and I use hair conditioner and pry the knot apart with my fingers so it's easier to brush out.
i just had one of these while combing my hair last night! but mine was significantly worse! than the one in this video! & i tried everything! & to top it off! i was completely by myself! with no one to help me! or tell me atleast what i'am looking at behind there! because it was directly on the back of my head! normally right where men get bald-spots at! and it was one big knotted tangled fuzz ball mess! & it was like a huge rock of hair all clumped together like cat litter! i ended up having to take a pair of kids school like scissors to it! eventually cutting a big huge amount of my hair completely off! & by the time i was done there was a big snowball shaped pile of hair on the floor in between my legs when i looked down from the chair i was sitting on at the time! But anyways! i am hoping it will grow back atleast a decent amount soon! luckily i usually where my hair in a tied back bun like ponytail! so it covers up alot of the missing hair i had to cut off! & comb out!....that was Not! a fun night! at all!.... 😩😒
Idk why but this was really nice to watch xD
i have hair a little bit shorter than touching my shoulders and knots are really hard to get with it!! i recommend that type of cut for thick hair.
Good point! Shorter hair hardly ever gets knots!
I used detangling spray from superseding and it really loosens the knots
I never knew people with straight hair can have tangles and knots..o_O lol im dumb
Yes they get horrible knots, from experience. They become really matted and gross
I get them all the time and way bigger than this and I hate it because I’ll fix it then when I wake up in the morning there’s another one I really don’t understand what is wrong with my hair, it’s not super straight it’s a little wavy with a little bit of curls but my hair strands at thin but I have so much of it
I have straight long thick hair and the knots I get are horrid
Okay, so i have extremely curly hair and I have a giant mat in the back of my head. I have always kept my hair in a certain style so nobody will notice it. But i'm starting to get sick of it. I've had problems with this before but no matter how hard I try, it wont come out. I don't want to say anything to my mom because I don't want her to be disappointed in me or stressed out, especially since im 14. And I'm scared she might cut it if I say something as well. What do i do? I really need your opinion.
Oh man, that's terrible. Have you tried running some coconut oil through it with a pick to get the knots out?
Omg the SAME thing happened to me... It got BAD... my advice is TELL YOUR MOM say like mom, Ivenbeen having problems with combing my hair, and it got bad.... Like REALLY BAD could we maybe sit down watch some TV and work on it?? As long as you take good care of it when it's gone she shouldn't be mad and ask when she's not busy
ilana keckler
for sure!
so feedback, it's been 5 5 weeks since i told my mom and we ended up saving a lot of my hair, she had to cut some but it's normal looking and healthy as ever.
Kayla Johnson
Such great news, Kayla! I am so glad you could save your hair :)
its currently 10:34am and i have a huge knot in my hair beacuse im too lazy to brush it everyday since im 5'7 and it goes all the way down to my butt its a hassle im lazy but it has to get done one way or another, im not ready thanks:D
I usually get these at the crown of my head so about a month ago I started sleeping with my hair in a bun or braid and it helps so much because your rolling around on loose hair !!!!!
I was stupid and left my hair in a messy bun for two weeks and now I'm in a lot of pain 😫😫😫😫😫😫
#coronahair 😉 we're all in the same boat! I hope it gets better soon for you
@@PositivelyMommy Thx ❤❤❤💕💕💕
I finally got my pandemic head knot free. Gals it was bad. I had my hair braided but left it in way to long for natural curly hair. It wrapped,Cris crossed tangled then knotted almost up to my scalp( even the little dangel pcs.of hair knotted). I used Mane and Tail detangler for show horses. I left it on dry hair for maybe 20 min.. I started pulling lose the larger tangles. Then started on the knots. I did need Lil help from my sis but with in ten min.im ready to jump in 🚿. Knot and tangle free. Now I gotta go put this jug back in the barn. I hope they don't tell. Hehehe!
Is it really for horses?
I had box braids in and took them out today around 11 am and after my hair was washed half of my head was entangled with one big knot and it’s 11 pm now and it’s still there.
i have a little dread/matted hair right in the back of my head. I have tried taking it out in the shower for weeks and i think i get it every time but then ill be playing with my hair and find it again. :(
